This day is call’d the feast of Crispian.
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam’d,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say “To-morrow is Saint Crispian.”
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say “These wounds I had on Crispian’s day.”
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester-
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb’red.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

I always thought it was odd that the Sniper, who is an Australian hitman, says it and not the Soldier, who is (pretending to be) an American soldier.
Another interesting tidbit is that Mattis's nickname is "Mad Dog." The same phrase is used to refer to the Scout's pugilistic older brothers.

Ender's game.
This quote is edgemeister incarnate
After being offered by the Franch to appease the pope and gain his support;
-"The pope? How many divisions does he have?"
"Your country isn't worth dying for- it's worth living for. But if you have to- know it was worth it"
- A modern Israeli paraphrase to Yosef Trumpeldor's "it's good to die for our country"

I think a lot of these quotes are good, I just cringe every time someone takes that quote from ender's game seriously. #basedrommel
>>23343729
I just have a hard time seeing it as a warrior quote, because of the Beatles connection.
I mean, it's not like the Beatles were some kind of super soldiers/60-70s pop stars.
...Right?
>>23343813
to me the worst thing about that is that he managed to hold up a tank column by himself. apparently chinese tank drivers aren't trained to go around things, only go forward. the fuck is he going to do, run back and forth in reverse frogger action trying to get in your way?
>>23343847
It was an honor thing. To go around him would be to yield to his impudence. To yield yo him would embarass and dishonor the military
>>23329568
I never understood the "have a plan" part of this quote. Does it mean, be prepared and ready to so it, or actually plan out hypothetical assassinations for everyone
>>23343882
both
>>23343882
Actually think about it. The way you scope out the fire exits when you're in a restaurant.
>>23343828
True. The Beatles certainly never intended for it to refer to war or anything of the like. Pretty sure they were just talking about their carriers and how they would never escape their past works as a group.
But, I can see how it can be interpreted to be a war/warrior quote. You're gonna carry that weight. The weight of your actions, regardless of their veracity will forever be hoisted upon your conscious. And you need to be ready and strong enough to carry that weight, in whatever battles you may fight.
>>23343678
I don't necessarily interpret it like that. To me, it advocates self-sufficiency and being able to fight back to protect yourself and those you care about.
I agree it's edgy, but I look past it and look at the core of the message.
>>23343862
if they were worried about yielding they would have just ran him the fuck over
stopping was yielding itself
>>23343806
Hell, in MY old unit we had call-signs within our PLT ( so just for our net) based off of 40k units: Mine was Predator, others were Slugga Boy, Terminator, Big Mech, LT was Force Commander, Sec Sgt was Commisar and a few others.
We had lan parties playing the 1st dawn of war games, vehicle crew vs. crew. Good times.
>>23343902
That would have also been dishonorable and very unpopular. They could not run over an unarmed citizen, whether they or thrir commander would do it because of moral reasons, or they feared retaliation from others or being seen as monsters
