>>22874905 >I'm conflicted. On the one hand he could stop a shooting if there was one. Do you really think that spree killings are such a threat that this matters? You may as well say he's a fire hazard because that metal barrel of his might conduct lightning, causing him to burst into flame right near some oily rags
>>22874848 well, highschools are the education grounds for the future...so constantly filling our schoolbooks with garbage and never having an honest discussion about serious issues is a plague in my opinion.
To answer the articles question, this is a good conversation starter and maybe that makes it appropriate in that sense. I don't consider it appropriate in the general sense.
If you are making a political statement, dress the part. They look fucking retarded. But it's their right to do so. I don't know whether they're protesting anti gun legislation, or queer eye for the straight guy at this point
>>22874960 That was from a fake website. Embody's real one had been closed for a while, after the ATF revoked his FFLs because of his criminal activity. Also, he couldn't get shit banned if he dropped a duece on Oblarney in Chief's desk. The guy is a huge fuckup, and more than likely will end up in prison on felony charges, thereby removing his ability to ever get another FFL or be a gun owner again. He caused his own shit, now good riddance.
>>22875088 He's hasguns, and owns machine guns. He also agreed with assault weapon bans, and did exactly dick to change firearm laws for the better when he was governor. He even signed several anti-gun bills. Fuck that dickhead.
>>22874848 >passing out flyers Good idea >marching back and forth in front of a school with a rifle on your back Less of a good idea, but I'll give him credit for actually having his rifle slung, like most of the OC'ers who are attention whores as well.
>>22875213 I didn't dodge dick, I explicitly acknowledged arms control during the socialist transition phase.
>>22875213 >whatever-bullshit-name-you-faggots-are-using-for-your-failed-ideology-this-week non sequitur for 2 reasons: 1) this discussion is meaningless if you're not going to recognize the different meanings of words 2) the entire planet tried to extinguish the USSR until WWII and then after, I'm not pro-Soviet, but I'd argue both that they made out well for themselves given the totality of circumstances and that living in a devolved worker's state beats late finance capital
>>22875056 That reminds me of an old Commie professor I had. He taught communications, debate and such. He had the grey ponytail, and only wore a suitjacket when his boss made him. We had to do midterm speeches on something we would consider ourselves knowledgeable about. I did mine on variations of the Mosin Nagant rifle from the M91 on down. Gave my speech on Nuggets, was getting ready to leave class, when commie hippie professor said he wanted to talk to me.
I thought he'd be upset, and was going to say how I was a murderer/muh chilluns, shit like that. However, he was excited, didn't know you could get a full power rifle for under $100, and asked me where he could get one, this was about 5 years ago. I told him that I was kind of shocked that he would be into guns, considering he's about as commie as Lenin. He said "Well, we can't have a people's revolution without guns, now can we? People need a means of protection."
>>22875413 Now I'm invoking Danth's Law, considering I answered you 4 times (that there is a difference between communism and socialism, that the socialist phase is statist and the proletarian dictatorship needs to self-advocate).
My ego is neither fragile nor needs protection. I was hoping for some academic jousting with a presumed rightist, but from what I can tell the Red Scare was so effective on you that you won't even talk with me. :-(
>>22875515 Au contraire, I'm trying to be as straight with you as possible and I hate that it would seem any other way. Arguments deserve a fleshing out to make sure everyone's on the same sheet of music.
>>22875267 Uh - local news agencies about his arrest and upcoming trial, local PD arrest files, and the ATF FFL license database. It doesn't say suspended for his, it's revoked and no longer in the system. Also, he was caught on cam for what he did. It's pretty much an open and shut case. He fucked himself over good.
>>22875248 >2) the entire planet tried to extinguish the USSR until WWII and then after, I'm not pro-Soviet, but I'd argue both that they made out well for themselves given the totality of circumstances and that living in a devolved worker's state beats late finance capital In the 15 years that I've actually tried to 'understand' and be interested in politics, I think you are the ONLY person I've ever seen, aside from me, who understands this.
I'm not a particular fan of hardcore Soviet style communism either, but until the 50's the world was a pretty shitty place for everyone and everywhere.
Now, Britain, France, the US, and I think Germany too? They all Invaded Russia after WW1 (in the US's case is was more like wandering lost, in Siberia), with the intent of reinstating the Czarist Monarchy (fun fact, serfdom had only been abolished by said monarchy in 1907), who were generally oppressive dicks as well (you don't think the Bolsheviks came up with the idea of secret police themselves, do you?). Meanwhile the Western world, while generally 'better' off because of capitalism, was quite a bit less free and more run by the rich than it is now (maybe...).
Neither does it help the case, that during the Cold War the 'good' guys were just as bloodthirsty and murderous as the communists, when it came to fighting for the ideology. Just look at South America or.. most of Asia, to see the results of all the meddling we did in the name of freedom, liberty, and all that.
Frankly, for my own two cents, I've mellowed over said 15 years. A hybrid system of regulated capitalism is what would probably suit the world best. Since there need to be rules to keep shit like the housing bubble from happening again (because it's happening again!!!).
>>22875557 Because basic shit, like "what is communism? how is it /not/ socialism?" has been turned from baseballs into hockey pucks. That's why I'm trying to break misconceptions down at the earliest stage, so the arguments don't spin off into the absurd.
To make myself utterly clear: there's never been a modern communist state. Some historians, philosophers and economists argue that pre-history was communist by its nature. Whether or not that's the case doesn't address analysis after "Capital." So, any Red states that have existed* have necessarily/inevitably controlled arms by virtue of being socialist: transitioning out of a system with state and class into one without either. *PRC, Albania, Cuba, USSR, Vietnam, some say DPRK (PROTIP it's not)
>>22875566 >Our point is that despite all of your claims that Communism is pro-gun you have been unable to name a single example of such. I'm not the one making the multiple claims
>>22875566 >"Stateless communism" is an oxymoron. False, communism by definition is without state >Communism requires a massive, intrusive government apparatus. YES IT DOES! jesus christ, that's what ive been trying to say: socialism is statism to bring about communism
>A hybrid system of regulated capitalism is what would probably suit the world best. I'd love Keynes and social democracy if it were viable and sustainable for all humans, but I feel that's metaphysical by its nature.
>>22875787 >And how do you plan on achieving that? the socialist transition phase following proletarian seizure of state power and productive property >Do you think people will just walk away from their property and businesses? excepting those who fear having it seized and take action ahead of time, no, I do not
>>22875995 He didn't, he is just an edgy retard. Several assmasters made 5.45x39 pistols, thus causing the king (Assmasters Tobacco and Firearms) to reclassify it as "armor piercing" pistol cartridges.
>>22875775 You can thank /v/ for this shit. They opened the gates to bumblr and leddit and now the leftist retards are pouring in by the previously unheard of droves. And they're spilling out of /v/ into legitimate boards more and more every day.
I never understood what the idea behind building a 5.45 or 54r pistol would be, the entire basis for their appeal was their cheap surplus, was it just to be a dick or was this guy trying to make money off a surplus stash?
>>22876903 Implying he actually did anything. There were 5.45 pistols for years beforehand. The ATF claimed they classified 5.45 due to the Fabryka Broni Radom, Model Onyks 89s. Only 200 were ever made, but apparently one got approved for import in 2011. Who knows what really triggered it, but if it was Leonard I'm sure they would have said his happy bullshit parts kit and not some obscure Polish fuckery.
>>22876936 The 5.45 pistols that existed beforehand were homebuilds and not offered commercially. It was only when Embody made a 5.45 pistol commercially available that the ATF had grounds to ban its importation.
As for the ATFs official statement, it's far too sketchy to be legitimate. 7n6 was banned only several days after Embody specifically stated his intent to have it banned and announced his commercially available 5.45 pistol. Based on what they claim in their official statement, they theoretically could have banned 7n6 anytime after 11/2011 but they did nothing until Embody tried to get it banned.
The simplest explanation is that their was some sort of agreement between Embody and the ATF, with the stipulation that Embody not be held responsible for the ban. Why else would a pistol, (of which only 200 were made and none of which seem to have actually been imported) be the deciding factor three years after initial approval? Considering just how corrupt the ATF is, this seems to be the most likely cause.
None of the modern ones. But Karl Marx was as far as I know, against there being a monopoly of force.
>The arming of the whole proletariat with rifles, guns, and ammunition should be carried out at once [and] the workers must ... organize themselves into an independent guard, with their own chiefs and general staff. ... [The aim is] that the bourgeois democratic Government not only immediately loses all backing among the workers, but from the commencement finds itself under the supervision and threats of authorities behind whom stands the entire mass of the working class. ...As soon as the new Government is established they will commence to fight the workers. In order that this party (i.e., the democrats) whose betrayal of the workers will begin with the first hour of victory, should be frustrated in its nefarious work, it is necessary to organize and arm the proletariat." - Karl Marx, Address to the Communist League (1850)
But yea, most communists we see today are batshit insane authoritarian statist scum.
To elaborate, by monopoly of force, I mean what we face today as small government organizations build arsenals of robotic and advanced weaponry both conventional and otherwise to eventually use against the people.
