If it's an AKM or AK-47, you can only use unleaded gasoline. The gas is stored in a trap door compartment in the buttstock. An AK-74 on the other hand, is modernized, and can use either gasoline, kerosene, or even deisel in a pinch, although it isn't recommend because it fouls the gun a lot faster.

You can't run unleaded in an AK, it's too volatile.

"Gas" is being used figuratively - you have to run something with a high flashpoint to handle the chamber temperatures the AK can reach. I know some guys swear by diesel, and it'll work for an average duty workhorse.

I built my AK myself, so mine it set up to run nitromethane. It's almost $8 a gallon, but I only use up one or two gallons per range trip so it's a relatively minor expense. Plus with the nitromethane it actually cools the combustion chamber so you can bumpfire all day long without fear of cooking off rounds.

Back when I was into glocks I had a gen 3 19 that I shoot with a gemtech tundra from time to time. The barrel was a 13.1 LH from Glock and it was fine. I liked it more than shooting my dad's 226 and 229 with the same can, I always felt as if there was less blowback with the 19 for whatever reason.

supersonic = lots of noise, even if you suppress it, will still make a loud supersonic crack
