Sup /k/unts,

We recently got a few new pistols at my place of employment. I hadn't managed to get much hands-on time with them until now, and I thought some of you might like a quick look at them.

First up, the Beretta APX. Contrary to what Mac says, I don't think the trigger is all that great compared to a PPQ, VP9, or other newer striker guns. I'd even prefer a stock 4.5lb Glock trigger. The profile of the trigger itself is quite nice, but the huge trigger safety is a negative for me. The slide design is quite good though, and you can get a good purchase on it from just about any angle. The grip ergos are good, and with the replaceable grip panels the pistol will fit most people. Even me, with my Hicookian hands. The machining quality seems good as you don't really notice any tooling marks anywhere but in the top of the slide, where it doesn't matter at all. Magazines hold 17 rounds and seem well made, like any other Beretta magazine. Trouble is, they're proprietary to the APX. I'm not sure why they chose to make the striker safety pin protrude from the slide when you pull the trigger, but it does. Whatever, I guess. I haven't played with the modularity yet but it looks promising. Overall, this one seems well worth the price at around $500.

To field strip the APX, you pull the slide back slightly and either bull the trigger or push the button shown here to release the striker. Using the trigger makes more sense to me, but whatever.

Once you've released the striker, you can then VERY FUCKING FIRMLY push the takedown lever inwards from the right side of the pistol, until the lever itself is offset from the side of the pistol like shown. This is a bit of a pain in the ass and will take some getting used to.

Anyway, once that is done, all you need to do is flip the lever down and the slide kicks itself forward. You then slide it off the frame and proceed to dig at its naughty bits.

Generously gigantic slide rails in the APX. Everything seems reasonably well thought-out and well made to me.

Anybody own a decommissioned Humvee?I heard there are companies who buy them and refurbish them with basic creature comforts and sell them to the civilian market, I think it'd be super badass to have one for the winter months when I garage my fun car.

I think they're ugly and I've never shot one but having held them in gun shops they feel very nice. They cycle smooth, at least by hand. I'm not a fan of slide mounted safeties but that's just me. The people who have shot them praise them. They're priced right around $500 which isn't bad. I think they're an overlooked gun on the market
>>
>>34253730
Decent gun for the price.

Not flawless, but decent

Would probably want something else in the same price bracket

When the value of the gun will be increased.
(protip: this depends on a lot of factors.)
>Does your answer change if it is a new production gun compared to a vintage, out of production firearm?
Absolutely, yes.

I refinish a LOT of guns, and have refused to refinish a lot of others. Ask me anything.

i have a question about the finish on ar15 rifles
when they're new they're all black, but i've seen old ones and the receiver looks grey/silver
is it possible to remove the black finish purposely to get this 2-color look?

Does anyone ever fall into a feedback loop when buying their first rifle? At first you want an AKM because "muh reliability" but then you realize that the 5.56 round shoots flatter, and if your AR gets damaged you just Lego it up. But then you want to be able to punch through cover or dense vegetation and have some serious authority behind your rounds so you go 7.62 Nato, so then you're set to go get a 7.62 rifle and you try one out at a local gun store and damn if it isn't uncomfy to carry around and they're usually not pretty cheap, but the AK is, and it's plenty powerful, and so the circle completes itself right where you started and you've made no progress towards choosing your first rifle.

I know what handguns I want but why is it that choosing a rifle is so difficult? There is so much compromise between quality, price, and caliber.

There is no jack of all trades gun. Just like with everything else in life, there are compromises.

The good thing is that guns hold their value fairly well and they're fairly easy to sell, so just buy something and if you don't like it, you can get rid of it for something else and not lose a ton of money.
>>
>>34253062
I'm stuck wanting a WASR 10 and an expensive AR-15 build then a shotgun. I think I'll buy my handgun first since I'm at least resolute on that and then just go AK -> AR -> Shotgun -> flavor of the month.
>>
The real red pill is deciding 7.62x39 and 5.56 are both cuck shit rounds. You need .308 win. Now cry as ammo is 50 cpr for brass case. It's a buyers market for ammo now though.

What's to stop a white person from claiming to be black on form 4473? In order to prove you were lying, they'd have to prove that what you said was false, and since there is no legal definition for race, they can't prove that a person is or isn't a member of any race.

Better question, why is hispanic it's own section?
>>
>>34253017
Because Latin America has people of all races living there. Most Hispanics in America are mestizo, half white and half native American.
>>
>>34253005
fuck the 4473, why not do this for college entrance and racially awarded scholarships?
