Is it illegal to paint real firearms with orange tips/bright colors?
>>34265274
making NERF and SUPERSOAKER themed ARs is my fetish.
>>34265274
No. Just like it isn't illegal to remove the orange tip off airsoft guns.
>>34265274
Holy shit. Imagine carrying that around the neighborhood and just have ppl have no idea. Thats funny
How do you feel about the M4 carbine?
>>34265216
A example of why the Army can't be trusted with money.
>>34265216
Should be replaced with an AR platform weapon using 6.8 or 6.5 Grendel
>>34265216
M4 is eternal GOAT

I'm looking to get into deer hunting in the fall and winter, so I figure I better decide on the weapon that will slay deer.
The laws in my state only allow anyone to hunt with either slugs or straight-walled cartridges for some stupid ass reason. (Iowa btw)
I'd rather purchase a rifle with affordable ammo so I can practice with it before I go hunting, so 45-70 and 30-30 is out of the question.
357 rifles and 45 lc rifles are a nice start. However, what about 30 carbine? Specifically m1 carbines? How would 30 carbines hold up against deer? Only reason I ask is because I think semi auto would be better than lever action for faster followup shots if need be. Plus, accessories seem to be on the affordable side and magazines are cheap.
Either an m1 carbine, or I might find a nice bow.
Where are you hunting cunt?! There's no one durr rifle for every environment and every deer.
>>34265209
Iowa.
>>34265166
.30 carbine is basically just a rimless version of .357 magnum, the stats of an average load are virtually identical, so if you were considering .357 magnum for hunting purposes than .30 carbine would suit your needs as well.
Personally though I'd go for a rifle in .44 magnum instead for deer hunting.
Why doesn't Smith just drop the stupid internal lock? They'd sell a shit ton of revolvers the day they're introduced.
>>34265102
Because the media is going to spin it as getting rid of safety features this is literally the only reason.
Thankfully they just intent to call all of their new revolvers "pro" or "centennial."
Coincidentally these also lack the Hillary hole.
>>34265132
The media and people that give a shit about that for some reason aren't the ones that sustain smith though. Even if they pick up on that. It's probably something like possible negativity for a couple weeks are most, and a lack of real reason to.
>>34265132
The media doesn't know what a tiny key lock does on a revolver. It started as a legal issue, and there's no reason to think that that's changed. Maybe it was a stipulation in the original legal settlement that the company had to make all models of their revolvers with this lock. They get around it for some models by making secondary production versions without the lock, but it seems like most models are still produced primarily with the lock.
Why isn't there a single company in the united states that makes a quality affordable ak?
They seem to all have low standards and poorly made parts.
>>34264900
There has not been enough incentive for major financial backing to create legit fullsize presses like Russian AKs get made on. All the American efforts are small time efforts that tend to cut corners.
>>34264900
I think there just seem to be two kinds of makers for AKs in the US right now, the high end ones who are very serious about building/customizing AKs, but do so at a high cost, or shitcrafters like Century, who import some alright middle of the road AKs (mostly from Serbia), and also engage in making their own, which they are awful at.
>>34264900
No, you're just discovering that low standards and poorly made parts are a part of the AK design by default.
Ok /k/ this just happened.
>live in cali
>saw some cheap tula .223 on armslist
>meet up with the guy at a BART (rail) station
>the seller drives a Kia soul, and is well spoken
>overall looks like a solid dude
>money and ammo were exchanged, I figured I'm doing a good job so far on my first ammo armslist experience
>we talk about AR extractor springs for a bit, normal banter
>as I am about to leave, he asks, and I shit you not
Hey if you have any friends who are interested in drop in sears, they make your AR go full auto
>wat
>haha isn't that illegal, I managed to respond
>I look at him and he gives me this smile, so I figured he was joking
Yeah, but if you wanna have some fun shooting in the fields with your friends, I make them for $50 a pop
>ohshitnigger.jpg
>wow haha yeah I'll keep in mind

/k/ did I fuck up? What the hell do I do? Do I block his number? Report him to the ATF? Fuck was he ATF?
You didn't buy it, so what's the problem?
>>34264768
might be some alphabet, don't buy any, don't report.
>>34264768
You're fine. Do nothing.
So, with the recient changing in brace rules, I've decided to get a pistol. I've looked into getting a Scorpion Evo, or something on the AR Platform. I'm at a loss and I'm looking for recommendations. I'm looking for something that won't kill my wallet when it comes down to getting mags, ammo, ect.
For what you want the scorpion is a solid choice with a lot of aftermarket, I say go for it
>>34264551
Same dilemma as you OP, and I've decided on the new model of the Scorpion pistol with the carbine handguard, and the SB Tactical side folding brace. Cheap mags, better suppressor host than the pistol caliber ARs, and plenty of current and upcoming aftermarket support.
>>34264551
I've been away for a year or so, what are the new rules about braces? Are they legal again, or illegal again?
Is there any military rifle with a more unfortunate history than the SKS?
>Designed basically as the perfect WW2 infantry rifle just after WW2 ends
>Almost immediately after get replaced with a lighter, easier to manufacture rifle with detachable 30 round magazines
>Basically only used by rear echelon and honour guards while millions of never used rifles are stuffed into a warehouse for decades before eventually being sold to civilians or 3rd world countries
>Become the go-to poorfag rifle, and thus get bubba'd to hell and back
>Eventually prices soar so high that it officially stops being a poorfag rifle and even some lower end AK's are cheaper, once again getting cucked by Kalashnikov
Poor girls just couldn't catch a break
>>34264449
>favorite of Canadians
shit you're right
Remington Rolling Block
Basically what you said except for the civil war.
>>34264463
Yea but can you blame them? Shit they have it better off than the jewyorkers.
I have been thinking this over for a few months and I cannot decide between the two as my next rifle. I was thinking of getting one because of that Real Fucking NATO sexual healing. Primarily, however, I mainly want one to use that DAG blue plastic training ammo because of the cost per round. I figured it would be a good and cheap way to get in some trigger time on a cool rifle. They both are really awesome rifles but for right now I can only afford one. Can you guys help maybe edge me one way or another?
Between the two in my mind they both have some pros and cons:
FAL:
+Seems better for a lefty
+Adjustable gas system seems useful
+Easy to clean and maintain
+Huge amounts of surplus spare parts
-Mags are a bit expensive
-A non Voyager DSA is a bit pricey
-Building a FAL costs the same as a Voyager
PTR:
+Super cheap mags
+PTR91 costs about the same as a Voyager online
+Blowback means those spent cases have nowhere to go but out
+Standard sights seem better
-Ergonomics seem wonky for a lefty
-G3 training bolts would raise the overall cost up to a good DSA
-Annoying to clean
?-?Bolt gap might become an issue down the road
>>34264357
>lists ptr's price being the same as the voyager as being a pro
Neither of these rifles have any right costing as much as they do, settle on the c308 just because its affordable and is the exact same parts kit gun
>>34264434
Don't they have shit accuracy?
>>34264452
No, the newest ones mostly use ptr parts and cetme parts
Besides that, accuracy is in the hand sof its user
protip: u can't

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6jSqt39vFM
Yeah how come we dont adopt something like the russian oorah or whatever
>>34264013
The most famous American battle cry is " Allahu Akbar"
no because the american military is shit and got destoryed by some rice farmers and by some goat herding tribesmen in the mountains
the southern confederate soldiers are the last great american soldiers
>inb4 the americuckolds start crying
Why?

You're looking for barfcom user coldblue. He was responsible.
https://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_118/626884_Why-did-the-military-go-from-the-A1-pistol-grip-to-the-A2-pistol-grip-.html
Are you asking why IMI has a branded foregrip out? If so its because money.
If you're asking why the design desicions behind The A2 foregrip I agree. It seems like such a unergonomic design.
>>34263979
Man, AR15.com looks like a bastion of reason and civility compared to /arg/, and they post actual information and sources rather than "A1 MASTER RACE LOLOLOLOL"
With all this shit going on lately, I want a .22 short barreled semi automatic rifle for the zombie 'poxyclypse.
Of course short barreled rifles are illegal, so I'd be getting as close to that as is legal, which means a pistol. ( In a zombie apocalypse there'd be no law against me putting a non-pistol stock on it if I decided to, though in a zombie apocalypse I probably wouldn't care much desu )
I know .22 pistols can be pretty unreliable so would want clearing that failure mode to be easy and quick.
I posted this pic to show the kind of thing I have in mind. But I have no idea if it is a good one. What does /k/ think about these things?
Also why not be versitile? Features like the ability to add silencer ( remember we're talking The Walking Dead times here - might need to do ops for/against Neegan )
What is a good one of these types of things for The Road?
>>34263786
in a zombie apocolypse I wouldnt be to worried about the ATF and NFA laws ingeneral. Also Kel Tec makes some good stuff imo. idk if id trust my life with that pic you posted, but I guess its better than nothing.
