I saw a shitbull get clobbered by a horse it kept attacking once, so bludgeoning can be effective.

This isn't preferred, as it may turn on you and if it's on top of you you can't swing, but I'm unsure about knife laws in your country
If you can carry knives, know you can kill a grizzly with a decent knife with right stabbing placement. Just go for it's neck, avoid the nose and face as it will just latch on to your fucking hand.

Currently the only magazine adapter I can think of that's marginally available is the Canis Design one. It's aluminium and uses AR mag releases and apparently gives you a LRBHO. It does require irreversible milling of the front trunnion however and a couple people have tried to Dremel it and borked their trunnion.

If you really want a 5.56 AK I would recommend the Yugo M90np and M85np, both of those are built with a magazine adapter from the factory. It's polymer but honestly unless you intentionally try to destroy it I think you'll be fine. I have an M90np and while heavy it hasn't given me any trouble at 1k rounds.

It depends on the state, really. You are going to have vastly different laws in states with large cities like California compared to states like Georgia.

You must have been a resident for at least 90 days to own a gun, but after then, assuming you're a resident, maybe you have a work visa, greencard, or even citizenship, you're good to go to own firearms.

To buy a firearm from an FFL, you'll need to fill out a background check form and provide ID (driver's license, for instance), in near all states, there is no waiting period.
There might be some local restrictions here and there if you don't have citizenship (some states wouldn't let you carry, for instance), but for the most part you'd be green.

Why do you need an optic on a vehicle mounted exposed mg?

I would imagine it's a combination of can't be fucked to spend a shitload of money doing trials and then actually buying them, can't be fucked to make the armorers maintain them and the troops sight them, walking fire does the job good enough because the doctrine of fire and maneuver (You don't actually need to hit the enemy, just hit close enough to make him keep his head down so your guys can move closer and THEN shoot him) is applied to MGs and means direct hitting isn't all that important.

And on top of that, a range of a couple hundred meters being more than sufficient for dealing with VBIEDs, which get closer than that before you start shooting at them. And are all the US military have been dealing with for the last however the fuck long.

Kind of like how our artillery is either towed and very manpower intensive or self propelled and somewhat out of date compared to autoloading/heavy loader assist European stuff, but it doesn't really matter that much because it does the job well enough and replacing it would be expensive and all we're shooting at is asymmetrical forces anyway.

But I don't actually know, that's all conjecture. So I'm looking forward to hearing from someone with actual experience.
