Gun shows (and Renaissance faires) are great places to buy belts and blades.
You can typically find belts as thick as 1/4" (~6mm) at the larger gun shows.
That being said. I bought a wonder 9 at a show once.
A local pawn shop always has a table at the show.
Got it home and no mags would stay in.
Not factory mags.
Bought an aftermarket mag.
Aftermarket mags would not stay in either.
Sent gun in to manufacturer for repair.
They said seller must have taken out good parts and exchanged for his own (or a repair customer) parts.
Factory fixed the gun for free, which is awesome.
They took pictures of the parts that were in my gun vs the parts that were brand new from factory and emailed those to me.
I printed that out and went back to the store on a crowded Saturday afternoon and asked the owner "How could this have happened?"
"How could I have gotten USED parts in a NEW gun?"
Several people left.
I was kicked out and banned from the store.
Bad reviews on every website I could find.
Lesson learned: Be that dopey looking fucker that racks the slide, tests the trigger and reset, insert the mag over and over.
Don't give a fuck that people give me that look out the corner of my eye.
I've been burned once.
I always visit that pawn shop's table when I'm ready to leave the show, tee hee.

Was the Imperial Japanese Navy actually one of the world's best, or was it a case of "Never fought a real enemy until America"

The IJN was number 2 in the world after the US Navy.

After the USN and RN, probably.

They had an inflated sense of skill because they fought wars against opponents that were already fucked (tsarist Russia and Imperial Germany)

Why are new shooters such faggots?

>buy stupid firearm purchases
>think brands like colt, ruger, and remington are still what they used to be
>shoot fast and sloppy
>don't drink before and while shooting

I mean, I try to be friendly, give advice, and let them have their fun, but I internally cringe when I see their shooting or purchasing mistakes.

A novice shooter isn't going to want to drop 5 grand into a rifle right away. There's nothing wrong with setting a budget, you just have to accept that what you're getting won't have every bell and whistle, and that's fine.
>>
>>34266874
I really hate how im looked down on at the range by snobs because I dont have the money to throw on a 6k scmidt and bender and the general consensus that your optic should cost more than your rifle. Im just as accurate with a vortex viper pst than people with gucci optics sometimes I even get tighter groups. when it comes down to it its all about the skill/training and not the tool.

So here's an odd concept, komrades.

Let's say that for some bullshit reason rifles suddenly drop from the face of the earth.
We now have to arm the militaries of the world its shotguns, be they pump, lever, bolt, or full/semi automatic.

What would happen?
Would we see a shitload of Benellis and clones thereof become the standard service "rifle"?
>tl;dr

What about artillery, and large arms mounted to vehicles? I would imagine more fighting would be done with them.
>>
>>34277838
Must be smooth bore.
So not a ton of change, but a fair of it.

Frankly, aren't a lot of large caliber things for tanks and artillery smoothbore either way so as to be able to better fire HE and phosphorous rounds?
>>
>>34277809
Define "rifle". If we're going by the ATF's definition, I'd arm everyone with "pistols" equipped with sig braces.

DSA RPD?

Does anyone have experience with these things? My LGS has one for $2200. I was considering trading in a colt hbar match target A2, russian sks (i have 2), and a hakim. I never shoot them.

I saw the rpd has reliability issues going 5 years back but I can't find mention of it recently. Handled it today, extremely well made but the sights were surprisingly bad. Rear sight was small. I am a manlet and can't shoot it off hand. Range toy only

Trading complete, factory built guns for a gun built from a kit by some people that have an awful reputation for QC is a god-awful idea, regardless of whether or not you'll shoot em or not.
If anything, use them for trading stock at a gun show for something more valuable.

That was a major problem online. Many people are complaining of guns that were nearly non-functional. I haven't seen any reports in the last few years about them and my gun store claims that none of the rifles they've sold have come back for warranty work

I recently Purchased a pre 2005 IMI Jericho 941 R. It was one of those Ones Imported by Magnum Research so it has Desert Eagle Pistol marked on the side of the frame instead of Jericho 941. My goal is to make this into an exact replica of Spike Speigel's Jericho. The things I need to do are,

1) Have the "DESERT EAGLE PISTOL" roll mark changed to say "Jericho 941", and have the "ISRAELI MILITARY INDUSTRIES LTD (IMI)" roll mark changed to say "POSEIDON ISRAELI MILITARY INDUSTRIES". From what I understand that since this gun was sold by magnum research under their name, and not IMI/IWI directly, so long as I leave the import marks, Serial # and Made In Israel marks alone, all of which are on the other side of the gun, I should be in the clear legally.

2) Get the original style sights they are very similar to the ones on my gun right now, but are more rounded and less angular. I also can't seem to find these anywhere.

3) Swap out the slide release for an Original Jericho 941 or Tanfoglio FAB 92 Doglegged slide release lever. the difference between the correct one and mine is fairly subtle, and I am having some trouble finding this one on line. Any help would be appreciated.

4) either source a new stainless steel guide rod or have the tip of my current one polished or nickel plated.

5) Get a new grip. The grips used in Cowboy Bebop were never actually made, so I'll have to buy the airshit ones and modify them, or maybe fabricate something and combine them with some crimson trace grips to get the functionality of the laser like the ones in the show. this is a something I can do later as id' want to have the sights and engraving done first as they both require a gunsmith and tools.

If anyone has done this before or has any advice on how to get the parts let me know. thanks.

Heres a picture of what I'd want to be engraved by the gunsmith, this is exactly what appears on the gun's left side in the show. the right side of the gun has all of the important info like the serial number, import marks, and country of manufacture.
>>
Last I heard, EAA has dogleg slide releases as a special order item. Call them and ask.
Depending on the barrel length of your Jericho, the Tanfoglio Witness or FAB 92 guide rod for the appropriate equivalent will fit - though just polishing yours is probably cheaper and easier.
I suspect the original sights were likely Tanfoglio as well, so reference some parts diagrams for the TZ75 series 88 and FAB92.

Why you'd want to add Poseidon to IMI, I'm not sure. They made model replicas - which the animators probably used as a reference to draw Spike. That's also the reason behind the funny grip, though if you really care, you can probably scrounge up the long-out-of-production model somewhere and hope the plastic grip can stand up to real use.
>>
>>34277054
you wont be able to find the grips

My brother in laws father passed away and left him an assortment of firearms. He gave them to me because his wife was attempting to give them away or sell them. He has a variety of historic firearms (especially from Italy and Spain for some reason) but he has a rife that I can't seem to ID.

This rifle seems like an American rifle from the 60's but there's no markings on it at all.
