If it turns out that this is something more than a propaganda/ego project and China actually begins exporting them to whichever country purchases them when it's finally at IOC(sometime in 2035), how will this affect NATO strategy?
Additionally, how will India and Russia react? ( I assume that India clearly treats China as an adversary and Russia fragile arms export industry probably won't be helped by the introduction of another big player in the cheap-fighter market segment)

Hey /k/, so, my gunsmith has a commercial mauser 98 + pu scope for sale at what seems like a good price, in good condition too. However, in trying to ID the thing in google images, i cant find a single example that matches this thing. It has a forestock that looks like the one in the pic attached, swept down at the end. But the rest of the rifle is exactly like an ordinary commercial 98.
Any idea what that means? Is this thing bubba'd? Or were there commercial 98's that looked like this? Google utterly failed me.

Btw, its tag in the store says its 8mm. Not sure if they made the commercials in 8mm. Maybe my store owner derped.

I work in a place that has one of the largest collection of Mauser rifles. If you post a pic I will identify it. I don't believe Mauser ever produced a thumbhole commercial stock for 98s I could be wrong. The forend shape your describing is what's referred to a Schnabel. It looks like the underside of a dingus. Lots of commercial guns had them.

Honestly though I kinda regret my purchase.
I bought my SKS right before my state banned AKs, and in retrospect, I would have been better off with a WASR or NPAP. The thing is, with the SKS, even though it's a solid rifle, doesn't do anything that an AK doesn't do just as good if not better.

From what ive heard they were a great sniper rifle for the military. Why dont more people talk about them here as a legit hunting rifle? You can get them for like 1.5k which doesnt seem that bad...

Hey /k, I have a very simple and probably widely asked question for US Active and Reserve duty servicemen. I went through the process in MEPS, and I landed my SO rate qualifying me for BUD/S. What I didn't know is that I could be working for my state and if I deploy, I would be collecting two paychecks. Is there anything that I'm not considering about going reserve instead of active? Also, would it be difficult to change my contract to reserve even though I'm in DEP? Thanks /k/ommandos

I doubt you're getting two checks. Your civilian employer isn't going to pay you if you're not there, and if you are on federal active duty, you're not on the state's dime so they're not going to pay you either.

I didn't want to disclose state but I realized it doesn't truly matter. So one of my friends is a cop in the nypd, and he is a navy reservist. I really have no idea what he does but I know that he's in the reserves, leaves for a deployment, the nypd pays him even though he's away and he gets active duty pay, then he comes back to NY, takes the promotion exam, and then he leaves again. He's coming back for the lieutenant exam soon. 2 paychecks. Nypd officer pay and active pay. He told me himself.
