For whatever reason, I've never been entirely interested in rifles. I understand the appeal and I think every free American should own an AR15 or similar, but I've never gotten around to purchasing one.
I've always been enamoured with pistols, and to a lesser extent, shotguns. I see the pistol as an extension of autonomy , and something that can be on your person every waking hour, by your side when needed. They are a challenge to shoot well and very difficult to master.
The rifle almost seems too easy I guess. It's not particularly difficult to become effective with a rifle. Long distance shooting is challenging but seems boring compared to draw, move and shoot pistol training.
I've bought and sold maybe 15 pistols, bought and sold 1 shitty kalishnakov and bought and kept 1 870.
Does anyone else share this sentiment? Are you a pistolero, shotgun surgeon or a marksman /k/?

I am pretty much the other way around. I understand that there is a handyness to a pistol and that it will be what I most likely use if I need it, but I don't buy guns for self defense. I buy my guns for historical significance, mechanical fascination and to a lesser degree, marksmanship.
My engineering mind gets all fired up for how a gun works and what makes it tick. Pistols tend to be simpler and less in a historical sense. Except for the P-08, P-38, or Nambu, pistols have very rarely sparked my interest.
>>34291530
>15 pistols
>pistolero
i'm about the same, now down to 3 pistols, 2 for carry 1 for future use
i owned a colt ar15a2 awhile back but regretted it, hassle to go shooting, what the hell do i need it for etc, then sold it
I enjoy pistols a bit more than rifles due to the challenge in using them accurately. I also find their various types of mechanisms fascinating. However I also enjoy the boom of shooting 54r and .06 rifles.
So I recently heard that one of the problems with Nazi Germany and their war time industry was that they had this weird and inefficient system for running their wartime economy. How did the economy in Nazi Germany work during the war? How was it different than America and the USSR? I think that I understand how those two work:
>America: "Make us some good equipment and we will give you all the money"
>USSR: "Make us as much equipment as you can or we will send you to gulag"
Am I wrong?
>>34291482
the nazi wartime industrial production relied on nationalist duty, and dedication to the state and the furer. it was cheap and effective, turning out high quality end product. it was nothing short of astonishing.
there was also the jewish slave labor, but that was more of an end for the incarcerated jews.
>>34291516
>relied on nationalist duty
and severe penalties for slackers
those totalitarian society regimes really aren't very fun
Germany never entered full wartime economy until 1944 or so, and nazi ideology kept women from factory labour, so man hours and resources were still wasted on mundane civilian production long into the war
Hey /k/
I'm looking for advice on a first purchase. I can spend around $500-700 and was hoping to get some input or at least get pointed in the right direction. As far as caliber goes, I really liked firing .45 and .40 at the range, but I'm not too picky.
Glock 21
Agreed Glock 21.
>>34291466
Depends on what you need, carry gun? Range piece? Home Defense?
Personally, I rather enjoy the pistols CZ Puts out, the P-09 I have hasn't jammed more than 5 times in the year I've had it, and I've put a thousand rounds of the cheapest fucking steel cased ammunition I could buy, and even then they were because of the shitty ammo and not the gun. Great trigger, good point of aim, and accurate to quite a distance, it also can hold up to 19 rounds in its magazine, and I got mine for about 500 dollars. Main problem I have with it is that it's a bit bulky, grip's a bit wide, if you have dainty hands, and, while it's not a problem for me, it may be for you, it's chambered in 9mm, although there is a version, supposedly, that holds 16 rounds that's in .40 S&W, although I've never actually seen one of those.
What dream should we live, /k/? The AnCap dream, the merc dream, or the autist dream?

Why not all 3?
>the carrier is the home base of the dreaded autistic anarcho-capitalist mercenary leader known as 4chan
What does /k/ think of this? Del Ton AR for $400. Seems like a good deal but I don't know anything about ARs
>>34291453
Barring any production problems, go for it. Plenty of sport shooters using DelTons.
It all depends on what you want it for and what you're going to do with it after buying. If you just want an AR for general target shooting/home defense and you do not intend to do a lot of modifications, go for it. But if you want to take this and use it as a base and mod the hell out of it ($200+ in aftermarket) I'd just build one from a stripped lower. If you're worried about price, if you buy a few parts at a time, after a few months you'll have a pretty good AR.
>>34291453
one thing I don't like about Deltons is they rarely do a proper job of staking the gas keys.
what gun should i give to my gf? shes been really interested in funs and shooting them but i feel like its time for me to give her her first one

If there's not a ring on that finger, you don't buy them a fucking gun you idiot turd.
is a giant tank the size of a house viable in the modern battle space??
Imagine a tank really really big armor so thick you need a nuke to penetrate it
with a gun that has a range or a thousand mile that can carry ICBM's that can even go on water and submarine mode. That houses thousands of troops and can even carry planes.

Yawn
I recently dug up about 20 of these blank white shotgun shell boxes from my attic.
Naturally I hate leaving them blank and plain and would like for you guys to help me with ideas on what to write/draw on these bad boys!
Take nails and hammer the head flat, make flechette shells and shoot targets with them.
Try making an even cooler dragons breath if you have a safe place to test it.
Collect peoples kidney stones and make a shell full of them and send it to taofladermaus or whatever along with a shell stuffed full of toenail clippings. It'd be interesting to watch in slo motion.
Fill shells full of seeds and try starting a garden by shooting dirt.
use glitter pens :3

So I've been wanting to go innawoods on a deep excursion for a while now, the only problem is that my friends are too pussy to go in with me. Here's the details on the trip
>200 miles
>Estimated time to complete-3 weeks
>Ozark Highlands Trail (Arkansas)
>It gets HOT. not dry heat, but humid heat. I'd take Texas summer over Arkansas summer anyday. somewhere in the 90-110 range at the hottest
What do you think? Can I solo it (I have a sat phone, or should I wait until I find someone willing to do it with me?
and yes, I will be well supplied/armed

Before the end of the month, China will launch the lead ship of the Type 055 cruiser (NATO: Renhai-class).
This 12k ton monster with 128 large caliber VLS (plus 24 cell HHQ-10 PDMS) is better armed and more powerful than any ship the West possesses, as every single of its 850mm VLS are capable of launching long range supersonic anti ship missiles, as well as near space cruising ultra long range SAM that can shoot down US E-2Ds from 800km range.
There are 5 more of them under construction in 2 yards, and the second ship will launch by the end of this year.
While the US Navy crashes against Philippino tankers and drown its sailors and captains, the Chinese Navy is in the process of building a fleet of super battlecruisers.
The bow of the 5th appeared recently.
>>34290323
The first two ships about two month ago.
The second ship in pic was assembling. It should also launch soon.
>>34290327
The lead ship could be named "Nanjing", serving the East Sea Fleet and will spread fear and terror to the Japanese.
How many days ago did you laugh at russians for the same thing?
Why isnt it funny this time?

Is it maybe not funny because sailors died this time?
When the same thing happened to russians, they didnt need to open up the giant tin cans to extract the carcasses, is that what took the humor away this time?
What are you comparing this to?
