Hello, I started the thread here because it seems like the most appropriate for my topic. I will soon be going to a military college and would like to know if anyone here has any tips or advice on how to succeed at a military college/academy.

If you can't figure that shit out on your own, how the fuck do you expect enlisted men, as I was, to ever call you Sir?
>>34285816
Chill out, SSGT, I got this. Ask away but please, please, tell me which country first. I'll show my degree, class ring and shit if you're for real.
>>34285829
To be specific I will be attending Texas A&M at College Station
Help me decide which historical "Machine gun" I should buy next in semi-automatic.
>MG34

>Or anything else that would be cool.
I already have a few built, attached is a pic of my Maxim I sent off about a year ago to be built, and I am just waiting to get it back.
>>34285051
Here's a pic of my madsen I had built a while back.
One thing I really like about it compared to most semi conversions is the reliability since it did not have to be converted to closed bolt from open bolt.
>>34285051
>owning multiple semi only machine guns
Lol what a fucking cuck
>>34285153
you don't own more than one ar?
It seems people on /k/ are in one of two places financially.
1. They are your typical 4chan poorfag.
2. I'd like to add 4 MG42s to my vault.
I feel like I'm the rare upper middle class person here. I'm about to go to college and money isn't a problem, but I'd like to make sure a get the right degree so I can own some expensive guns one day. (Currently own a basic Colt AR)
What degree should I get? I'm good around computers and I seem to have a fantastic public speaking ability. What's the best degree for these skills for maximum cash after college?
CASH=MG42s

Any engineering major, some are harder than others and CS is the easy way out but is incredibly saturated, however SE is basically the same thing with more job security and managerial/lead positions.
t. CE major (computer architectural engineer)
>>34284702
If you do this, try to get a job that requires security clearance. That way they can't hire Indians to replace you.
>>34284614
Chemical, petroleum, or material science engineering.
Posting here since this involves violence/melee combat.
Could 20 average women barehanded kill a man? No weapons allowed.
Yeah probably
>>34281894
make a sandwich? sure
open a small successful business? no way
yes. Talking about totally average man vs totally average woman going actually 100% I'd guess 1v3 might be enough. But women tend to be less aggressive, less likely to go at it 100%, so you might need 1v5.
underrated edition
Damn straight. Was a great game. Hours of gameplay, a really underrated tactical shooter. I think the reason it wasn't a big game is because it wasn't about Americans.
>>34281341
It was also a bit too complex for your, at the time, booming Medal of Honor target audience.
pic unrelated but still on topic

7,62 High Caliber with BSM and Mercopocalypse mod or 7,62 Hard life with GEG mod (give everyone guns)
800+ different guns
neat gameplay with realistic features (different ammo types like HP and FMJ behave different and grenades dont have an aura of damage buta ctually throw shittons of fragments, ricochets etc)
as /k/ as it gets imo
i can post a few screens if there is interest
GRG: Gun Repair General
my new idea for a revolving thread to help people get their shit fixed. post your problems and other anons help you troubleshoot or give their experience and answers. trust me this is a good thread idea

ill start with one:
i dont know much about welding, is there a way to join two pieces of metal with a glob of molten metal that hardens and dries after a little bit of time, kind of like hot glue? most welding shit ive seen is instantly fused the moment the torch or heat is removed. im asking because id like to fit something over a hollow cylinder over a rod and put the adhesive on the inside of the cylinder if possible
>>34280974
Semi-related to you pic, actually:
My Enfield safety is fucked. Theres no spring tension keeping in either safe or fire positions. It just flops around and goes with the flow of gravity and/or inertia.
Plz halp

Military contracts aren't about delivering viable hardware. They're about leeching as much taxpayer money as possible and making sure everyone from the Joint Chiefs, the lobbyists, the senators and the CEOs of the contracting companies gets their cut. Who gives a fuck if it doesn't work and every soldier dies using it in the field?
>>34271221
Good thing it's (flat top carriers) more effective than anything the other side has.
Where were you when our Lord and Saviour Gunjesus dismantled once and for all the myth of Glock reliability?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNw179rHxkQ
Worse than a Luger, worse than a 1911, even worse then a fucking Hi-Point.
I hate glocks and still think this test is retarded every time they do it
>>34293006
>this mud test is retarded just because i say so durr
>hurr durr no way do military trials use a similar test
>>34293085

This is definitely how the military does it

I see some on gun broker for 1200 that are original it seems
Are rail covers/panels really necessary?
If you wear gloves, no.
Maybe.
>>34292780
no just COMFY
Talk me into or out of buying a new p229 in 9mm for $650. Or an alternative, but I live in CA, so I don't have a big selection.
This my first semiautomatic pistol, but I already have a .308 precision rifle, a .357 mag revolver, and a 10mm carbine.
>>34292674
>P229 for 650
That's a hell of a deal
>>34292674
Are you sure it's new and not certified preowned? Because it it's new (and if that's an out the door price), then that's a great deal.
A few things to keep in mind about the P229 9mm:
First, there are two frame variants, and I believe both are currently in production. The first is called P229 and comes with 13 round magazines, same as the original P228. The second is called the P229-1 (it is only marked as such on the left side of the barrel) and it comes with 15 round magazines. There's no real pros or cons of either frame aside from the capacity. My understanding is that the P229-1 was introduced when Sig started using the .40 caliber frame and putting a 9mm slide assembly on it. Keep in mind that you can get 15 round, flush-fitting magazines made by Mec-Gar that will fit the guns with the old style magwell, but Sig's own brand of 15 round P229 magazine won't fit if you have a gun with the old style magwell.
The second thing to keep in mind is that there is a version of the P229 with half height slide serrations and a short extractor. The version with the full height slide serrations has Sig's newer long extractor. If you believe stories posted on Sig Sauer gun forums, the long extractors are prone to premature breakage, while the short extractors are more durable. That's not to say that you can't shoot a long extractor Sig for 10,000s of rounds without issue, just that they are a little more likely to break, on average.
Finally, with aluminum alloy frame Sigs, you will have to use gun grease on the frame rails to prevent premature wear. If you use gun oil, or you don't keep the grease refreshed after every range trip, your gun WILL beat itself to death under normal use. If you want a Sig not susceptible to this issue, you should either get an all steel Sig (most Elite variants) or a West German gun (original P228), since the blued steel used in their slide construction was less harsh on the frame rails.
>>34293045
What about a P229 Enhanced Elite in 40S&W that's very slightly used for $730?
That rail wear bothers me, even though I'm good about using grease.
assume i have the money to buy anything that isn't bullshit expensive.
naturally, we've got the AR, but the FNC also looks really fun.
>>34291714
Depends on your definition of expensive. ARs are cheap because they're a dime a dozen.
Pic related isn't all the pricey.
>>34291714
who the fuck is selling FNCs
FNC is a classic. The FS2000 is excellent at keeping out debris. I'm personally waiting for the MSBS though.

Marines are adopting the M27 instead of the M4A1 because they want a rifle they control.
