Do submachine guns have any practical use in modern times? Specifically for military operations, self-defense, civil security, or police use, etc.
>>34314694
If they were cheap and easy to obtain, self defense for civilians would probably be the primary market, police units being the second place.
>>34314713
What I meant to ask better was how submachine guns compare to modern short-barreled carbines for civil or military use.
>>34314859
Meh. They're good because pistol ammo is cheap, and compatible with your CC gun.
The raise most people will tell you to just get a carbine.
Is the bow and arrow a viable weapon in a SHTF scenario?
>>34314529
No because guns exist, they will always exist, and ammunition will always exist and continue to be created.
>>34314529
Well if you had a choice between nothing and a bow... get a bow. Otherwise bows have very few advantages going for them.
Besides unless you are going to go nuts and buy all the stuff to do your own fletchting and shit and get fucking crazy good at it just get a fucking gun.
>>34314529
They do have the advantage of being comparably quiet and the ammo is easily reusaable. But then again same for crossbows.
If you live in a rural area and intend to stay there during shtf it probably makes sense to have a bow/crossbow on hand, but it's not a priority over a good gun.

I'm in the market for one. What is the best place to buy them from? Classic Firearms is overcharging them at $670, which seems a bit steep. Listings on gunbroker are almost always above $700 for some reason.
Help?
Or if someone on /k/ is selling their WASR, I'll buy it.

It's actually not that hard.
Would a 50 caliber lever gun be the ultimate home defense rifle? A 350 grain bullet has a sectional density of only .2, so I doubt it would over-penetrate, especially if you use a hollowpoint.
.45-70 is already a thing.
So is 12 gauge for that matter.
>>34314205
why not just use a shotgun and slugs
>>34314230
>>34314233
500 is bigger than 458. To be fair, a shotgun slug would be even bigger, but I've always liked rifles more than smoothbores for some reason. I can't say why.
Hey /k/, I really need help identifying this rifle. I got it from my grandfather and all it says is "30-06 CCC"
Help!

That is one of two things. Either a US Model 1917 that was converted into a sporter rifle after WW1 or it is an original Remington Model 30.
Its got this mechanism on the bolt, if that helps
So the NRA's got some kind of new class where thye've barred revolvers and halfassed barred 1911s, and internet gun geeks are up in arms. But now there's something of a famous picture of one of the guys heading the class drawing with his finger on the trigger like a dipshit. This guy's supposed to be some kind of military and police legend and he's pulling rookie moves like this crap.
And some people have tried to defend him by saying he got his hand blewed off like Cotton Hill and his shins, and that his finger isn't on the trigger. Now, assuming I believed that his finger's off the trigger (and I don't because I can't find any proof of a quote from this guy or a reliable source explaining this "fact,") if your finger is never ever supposed to be inside the trigger guard until you're on target and ready to fire, why would you used a hand to shoot which forces you to break one of the cardinal rules of gun safety? If this guy is a legend, can't he learn to draw and shoot with his left hand?
I want some James Jerrett shit. I'll start us off.
Let's start with something basic

Look how low he has that gun gripped too. Gonna move like a motherfucker under recoil.
And continue with something intelligent
What is this "fence" on the vehicle for?
to catch RPG's.
>>34313868
This is what QTDDTOT threads are for.
Also this >>34313884
>>34313884
It doesn't "catch" RPGs you faggot. It forces the RPG to explode prior to making contact with the vehicle itself, allowing the force to dissipate significantly. It doesn't make the vehicle RPG-proof, it just reduced the potential for damage.
If you were going to be stuck in an elevator for 36 hours and could only have one gun; which gun would you choose and why?
A water gun

What do you guys use for home defense or in your vehicle? I'm looking for some ideas since I want to upgrade my arsenal. I'm thinking an AR pistol in .300 blackout or a Kriss Vector. Throw ideas at me!

Dear Frederick,
Thank you for your nice letter, but I am actually a U.S. Marine who was born to kill whereas clearly you have mistaken me for some sort of wine-sipping Communist dick-suck. And although peace probably appeals to tree-loving bisexuals like you and your parents, I happen to be a death-dealing, blood-crazed warrior who wakes up every day just hoping for the chance to dismember my enemies and defile their civilizations.
Peace sucks a hairy asshole, Freddy. War is the motherfucking answer.
Wobble between an upper and lower.
I just put together an aero precision lower with a BCM parts kit but when it interfaces with my upper, its extremely wobbly. The lower if for a different upper I am going to be making but this worries me.
>Is there anything specifically bad with having wobble?
>Would a quality upper fit better on an Aero Precision
>whats the best thing to do about this?
Inherent part of the design.
Should wobble less with magazine in.
>>34312742
No. There could be an argument about long range accuracy but that's more to do with the receiver slop and how it interfaces with you, the shooter rather than mechanical accuracy.
Not necessarily. There are Andersons thatre tight af and KAC guns with slop. When building Frankenstein guns you run the risk of tolerance stacking and getting a rifle with some slop
If it really bothers you, get an accuwedge, or apply a small bit of electrical tape on the lower above the rear take down pin, or use o rings above the front take down pin.
Additionally, you can have a tight receiver set, and after shooting it and breaking it down enough, end up with some minor slop.

My current build has no play. (pic above is my original build)
Also, just tried with the mag in, and i didn't notice much change.
