I'm 19 years old, parents are not against guns but aren't crazy about them so can't get a gunsafe or anything since i'll probably be moving out at some point. I have about 6 firearms, some in hard and some in soft cases. Where can I put them to avoid rusting? I currently have them sat in my closet in their cases and check on them every now and then, have had no problems yet but will I eventually run into a problem? I keep them propery lubed and greased if needed to be greased, should I worry?

If the actions and barrels are stainless, you'll likely be fine. Otherwise, you do need to regularly take the guns out to clean them, oil them, and deal with any new rust. Gun cases with a soft lining are detrimental for long term storage because it is like pressing an atmospherically humid sponge against the gun. You could potentially avoid these problems by wrapping the guns in a silicone impregnated gun sock before putting them in the case.
Move out when you can, and get a gun safe and dehumidifier bar when you're in a stable location both physically and financially.

A coworker gave me some old Gun Digests and I thought this was interesting. The article "Ideal Military Rifle" by Jac Weller covered small arms development from WWII to the present (1960) and covers the authors impression of the (then) new M14, FAL, and CETME.
I found it interesting to read about these rifles in a period publication that sort of talks about them the way I remember reading about "next-gen" rifles like the SCAR, ACR, XM8, etc.

i have been debating about caliber size for handguns and I thought the best caliber size to stock is the 9mm and the .380. Now hear my reasoning out. 99% of the time you wont use your gun, at the same time the #1 reason for not having your gun when you use it is concealability. If I wanted fire power i would bring a shotgun or a carbine, the #1 reason for a handgun is having a easily concealed weapon that is easy to carry. In addition, improvements in bullet technology usually mean you will be getting as much of a punch with a smaller bullet as time goes on.

I live in a state that does not allow me to carry a gun on me. I can only keep it in my home or take it to a shooting range (in the car trunk unloaded) or else I get arrested which would be a good thing after seeing how a cop used Philando Castile for target practice(who had legal carry permit)
The point is since concealability does not apply to me I choose the .45 ACP meme caliber. Especially since my garbage state only lets me shoot an intruder once, if he has more than one bullet hole I can go to jail. (which is fucking stupid)
Some one please bomb my state, I don't care if I am in it.

I have a pre 1951 marlin mod. 55 in 20 ga. whose sole purpose is to be as cheap as possible.
