How does gun ownership work in the Star Trek universe?

Can people just replicate all the guns they want and ammo without giving a shit?

How would a Star Trek /k/ommunity work?

No one has time to go on murder sprees because they're too busy fucking green girls 25/7 in the holodeck. The only part of Star Trek I find unbelievable is that human civilization survived unlimited virtual masturbation.

What is the best blade for sustained, methodical chopping, for brush clearing? Are machetes pretty much the go-to in this department, or is there another option?

you may want a brush axe, or different machete blade geometry depending on what kind of work you are doing. or were you hoping we'd suggest a cold steel great sword?
>>
>>34377873
>Hey I know that there is this type of blade that has been used to clear brush in all areas of the world but maybe there is another better way to do this so I can be super high speed.
>>
Machetes are light and have a long, practical edge. They are perfect for the task.
I was forced to do brush clearing with a knife, and even though it's a big one it was an hassle.

A sword should work, too.

What's the best movie gun, and why is it the Pulse Rifle from Alien?

Because, like all the gear in Aliens, it looks real. Cameron showed us a military which was clearly more advanced than the then current military, but didn't go overboard with flashy pew pew guns with neon stripes.
As a result the Colonial Marines and their gear still hold up today.

I quite like some of the stuff they had in Avatar, though funnily enough, it was the same guy in charge. So it comes back down to what >>34377845 said.

I'm going to be so pissed if Avatar 2 comes out and it just focuses on alien landscape porn and not the cool human tech.

Isn't the entire premise of the first film about how bad humanity and technology is?

Very few countries could actually defeat us in a war. Only the US really could (and that's after suffering upwards of 80% of their army in casualties). We're one of the best trained and most technologically advanced militaries in the world. Of course Finland wouldn't stand a chance.

Russia is only a threat to us because of their nuclear weapons, without them we'd invaded them already and completely destroyed their army.

Our gripen is probably the only fighter jet in the world that could 1:1 the f-22.

Question for k kommandos. I'm getting my second AR 15 and first suppressor and I'm looking into 300 blackout for the first time. I want the exact same pistol setup in the military arms channel video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eol8fvMfENc

Whats the best kind of 300 blackout subsonic ammunition to use for home defense, quietness, and reliability? Are the larger grain bullets the quietest? But how reliable are the heavier rounds in ar15 magazines, pmag drum mags etc... So I want the quietest but also most reliable in regular and high cap magazines...

That's actually a really good question. You're probably going to have to jump into a dedicated forum for that, there aren't many .300BO guys around here right now.

Also
>lrn2reload
>>
Most of the projectiles look like they suck because they are made to handle 300 win mag velocity. 300 subs really need a bonded pistol bullet design and there are like 2 companies that do that and they aren't cheap...
>>
Any 300BLK load with TAC-TX bullets should be fine. Subsonic is only good for suppressed shooting, since the ballistics are equivalent to .45 ACP. I keep my pistol loaded with Barnes 110gr in transluscent Lancer mags. I am paranoid about getting my .223 and blackout ammo confused. Any mag should be fine for your uses.

So I've been thinking about steel plates/body armor and I was wondering why they don't make them with lips around the edges that prevent fragmentation from running right off the edges on the plates straight under your chin or right down into your dick?

https://youtu.be/JsNPmsdwM-I

I mean this guy demonstrates it pretty well, that even with the spall lining/coating that a lot of steel plates have, fragmentation (which he improperly refers to as spall) can go right through it, especially after multiple hits and especially at the seams. It seems like and incredibly easy solution to just have slightly rolled/raised edges that form almost like a ramp, directing the fragmentation (which doesn't have a lot of mass or energy behind it) away from the shooter immediate extremities. I mean, it would be a bit goofy ergonomics wise and you'd have to worry about the potential for damaging the spall lining but as long as the rolled areas aren't too sharp or the weight of the plate and spall lining aren't resting on them, it should cause too many issues. It just seems like an easy solution to one of the biggest problems with steel plates (the big one being weight).

This is generally what I'm talking about. The only problem of course is that most of the fragmentation is moving out at approximately a right angle from the point of impact, so with heavily curved plates it'd be a matter of having rolling out edges that are longer and thicker than the over all dimensions of the plate, given that the edges tend to be the areas furthest away from the curved/extruded portion of the plate.

http://www.combataircraft.net/2017/06/23/how-did-a-30-year-old-su-22-defeat-a-modern-aim-9x/

>Its pilot engaged the ‘Fitter’ and initially fired an AIM-9X Sidewinder close-range heat-seeking missile from a range of about half a mile, which was defeated by flares launched by the Su-22 pilot.

>However, the engagement poses some interesting questions, not least; how was a 1980s-era ‘Fitter’ able to defeat a cutting-edge US air-to-air heat-seeking missile?

American technology, everyone...

More:

>That proved to be a very important test. “In 1987 we had the AIM-9P, which was designed to reject flares, and when we used US flares against it would ignore them and go straight for the target. We had the Soviet flares – they were dirty, and none of them looked the same – and the AIM-9P said ‘I love that flare’.

>“Why’d that happen? We had designed it to reject American flares. The Soviet flares had different burn time, intensity and separation. The same way, every time we tried to build a SAM simulator, when we got the real thing it wasn’t the same.

>The Syrian ‘Fitter’ in the latest incident appears to have had success with flares against the AIM-9X. There are also reports that the SyAAF ‘Fitters’ had received upgraded flare packs.

I know amerifats can't relate, but I feel (emphasis on "feel") like I'm fighting for europe as a whole.

I also look at this as a challenge, I haven't really amounted to anything during my lifetime since I threw my prime away in frustration at not getting to join the swedish army, so I feel like this is something I could feel proud of doing.

I know there's a high chance of dying/getting mutilated, compared to say serving in sweden, but this is my only option of joining an active fighting force.
