Mossberg Maverick 88. Still have it sitting on the cable management shelf under my desk.

My grandfather's 3rd generation Colt Detective Special in .38. He bought it from a retired police officer when he was a younger, passed it down to my mother, and she passed it down to me.
ITT post books or videos that explain the basics of military strategy. It can be things like conceptual general war tactics or small unit tactics.

Ranger handbook.
Any of the army tactics manuals.
Scenario: You've recently become the Minister of Defense of a newly formed oil rich island nation in the Arabian Sea. They've stupidly giving you, and only you, full control of the defense budget. Historically you're military spending has been non-existent because oil hadn't been struck but now, you have and you're suddenly rich. India wants your cheap oil for themselves, most of the middle east wants you blown off the face of the earth so they don't have to compete and the USA wants neither. You've remained political neutral since forever and have yet to sign a major defense agreement with anybody.
Lets be generous and say the GDP is an even $500b and the population is 10 million. You've got 3 years to construct a military to defend yourself and your eventual friends. How much do you spend, what do you spend it on and who do you shake hands with?

As many type 55 destroyers money can buy.
Invest in 265,165 current serving military personnel. Army should be around half of that with the next largest branch being the Air Force, then Navy, then Marines, then Coast Guard. Most soldiers and sailors should be armed with an L1A1 SLR which will cost around $1,500 a piece. Assuming 3/4s have this weapon, then that means that it already costs $298.3 million dollars. Now let's assume that officers are issued a side arm. That should be around 6 soldiers per 1 officer. So that means that around 45,000 men are armed with a side arm. Colt series 70 1911s go for around $930. That's $41 million dollars. So far the military has spent almost $350 million dollars. Now obviously if you buy the tooling, things can end up cheaper by producing them yourselves, but I think that the military would have second class gear compared to the rest of the world. The only way I can see of getting ahead is shaking hands with India and the US to get weapons and then joining the fight in the Middle East while selling oil to finance it all. Hopefully with the Muslims dying off in droves as a new found ally marches on their holiest of lands, this country can grow and strengthen.

No surface ships. Just submarines.
You are sitting on one of the major arteries of ocean-bound world trade.
America might be looking to set up a naval station on your soil due to such placement.
Open trade with India to sell off surplus oil, as your country has been making do so far with no local production of such.
Begin a switch from oil power to nuclear power, with the condition that the surplus oil that would otherwise be consumed locally be sold off to the US and India.
Open friendly dialogue with Israel. The Arab nations' governments already hate you, let's turn that into ABSOLUTELY FUCKING DESPISE YOU.
When the Saudi-led oil baron coalition comes a calling, unleash your submarines and tweet out "unrestricted submarine warfare is on the table if Middle Eastern OPEC states don't fuck off". The UN will bend over backwards to prevent that scenario from occurring, and with you partnered with India, Israel, and the United States...
So guys hypothetically if I was having trigger problems with resetting and I ground off the hook on the disconnector to fix those problems would that be a problem?
From what I can tell from looking at it it may be full auto only now which might be a problem.
>>34459276
If you ground off the disconnecter you're a retard, enjoy your OOBD.
>>34459276
to make it full auto you take the spring out from under the disconnector. the momentum from the bolt carrier hitting completely forward will knock the disconnector hook off the hammer and fire again
>>34459276
>So guys hypothetically if I was having trigger problems with resetting and I ground off the hook on the disconnector to fix those problems would that be a problem?
Yes, because then your gun wouldn't work.
>From what I can tell from looking at it it may be full auto only now which might be a problem.
It won't be full auto but it will be a problem.

>The original .45-70 blackpowder loadings have the same muzzle energy as a typical 7.62x39.
Why do people act like .45-70 is some kind of huge badass cartridge?
Because they started loading it with smokeless powder you retard.
Because *in black powder* it has the same energy as a 7.62x39?
Go to sleep, anon.

Because 500gr bullet can produce some recoil?
I prefer to keep it classy and use a pointy stick.
>>34457894
Same. I recently acquired a nifty device that launches tiny pointy sticks at high velocity. I also snagged some tiny pointy sticks made from lead and copper.
what are the spiciest diy warclub recipes
>Took my new Henry AR-7 to the range.
>Fired 50 CCI Stingers through it; no problem.
>Tried firing some cheapie bulk .22 through it.
>Jam-jam-jam-jam-jam-jam-jam.
>Go home, disassemble the rifle.
>Find that the jams have apparently chewed up the breech face a little, leaving this big gash in the aluminum.
Does this look dangerous? Should I be concerned, or does it fall under the "normal wear and tear" category?
>>34457536
Its fine, just clean it with some CLP and stone out any raised metal from the jams, if any. I really don't see where there is a problem. Can you provide a close-up in better lighting conditions?
What gash? I only see a gash in that injection molded bit which should be fine. You were having jams because the AR-7 is a giant floating pile of shit.
A hopefully better pic.
What is /k/'s opinion of the Scout? Is it a meme gun? I think the integral bipod is pretty neat.
>>34457458
Love it, really handy, but /k/ loves to hate on them for some reason that doesn't often get explained.
>>34457458
Its an extremely modular, low weight gun with many features. The built in bipod is a little flimsy but for a scout rifle you can't really complain as most rifles you come across of this nature aren't built for military spec anyway and I think this is no different.
I like how close the scope is to the barrel but I still wish it came with a built in cheek rest and the gun could take stripper clips from the top since the ejection port is very far away from the scope itself
>>34457479
Because 95% of /k/ doesn't know a damn thing about guns.
You guys should totally buy this SKS. Got to prepare for dem zombie apacolypse.
