The "3-Line Rifle M1891" and its subsequent incarnations.
Caliber 7.62x54R: the oldest cartridge still employed in official combat with an impressive 126 years of service, still going strong.
Like it or leave it, post your observations and experience with it here. I am curious, however: Why all the hatred for it?
...Nyet - rifle is fine regardless! Don't like recoil, get recoil pad; don't like BOOM, get ear plugs.
Discuss.
In with the lovin'.
fuck I suppose this is the best place to ask this
currently in the process of cleaning my surplus M91/30 from 1943
do I need to clean the barrel after every time I shoot it?
There is little outright hatred for the Mosin; the criticism of it that has started to appear recently, and rightly so, is that it costs too much for what it does. When even a rack grade AR-15 can be had for less than $400 and will shoot 2 MOA with 30 cpr ammo, there is little practical reason to spend $250 on a bog standard Tula Mosin that is less effective in every single way and isn't cheaper to shoot.
To begin with, the only real advantage of the Mosin over other firearms was its price, which is why there's no reason to get one when its price is hardly less than any other competing offerings with far better performance.
Let's talk about cleaning your guns.
What do you use to clean out the buildup and lead?
What kind of oil or lubricant do you use?
Do you have any kinds of typical procedures you follow?
After shooting my guns, I've been using some generic cleaning gun cleaning spray and using a cloth to wipe down any residue. then a bore snake for the barrels. It's kind of tough to get to some spots especially in my rifles and shotguns.
As far as oil goes I use hoppes and get a few drops into every moving part I see that touches metal.
Should I be doing anything else or anything different?
Hoppes Solvent and Oil. Patches and proper sized brush. Q-tips for star chambers.
I've been trying to clean out two WW1 rifles (K98AZ and Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.3*) and I'm getting a lot of copper fouling on my hoppes soaked patches. What should I do to get out potentially decades of copper fouling?

Whatever solvent I happen to have on hand, today it's Hoppes I got for free
>What kind of oil or lubricant do you use?
Motor oil, 3-in-1 oil
>Do you have any kinds of typical procedures you follow?
pull gun apart, clean dirty parts, smear lube on parts that move
It's a gun. It doesn't have to be perfect.

elbow grease. This might also be time to use a wire brush. Normally I wouldn't but if it's that built up just do it.

I have a chunk of melted down polymer and a block of steel along with some melted down and in a tupperware container in my back pocket and then in my other pocket I keep a block of lead encased in copper, a chunk of brass, and some gunpowder in three separate baggies. People who bitch about draw times just don't practice enough.

Just one round? I wouldn't even do that if I had a scope and a bayonet on it.

So recently he put out a video pretty much disowning the NRA and their policies. Sure the NRA hasn't helped us out sometimes, the 2014 Russian sanctions on 5.45 ammo and the ban on Kalashnikov concern weapons, but generally the NRA are still a relevant pro-gun group, my feelings are mixed on the NRA, but i still support them, and i just think TheYankeeMarshal is a tool.
Whats your opinion on this? Is this guy just talking shit or is his opinion valid? Does /k/ support the NRA or do you guys feel that the NRA are not for the 2nd amendment? Discuss.

Easily concealable
Shoots 9milimemer which has more punch than .380
>Cons

Small
Cheap
Doesn't jam
Thin and concealable
Painful
Not terribly accurate
Shit trigger
Might as well get a Shield while they're still $200.
The only negative I've heard about these is that it's easy to inadvertently engage the slide stop while shooting, meaning that you can accidentally lock the slide back by the action of your thumb making contact with the recoiling gun. I have done this on my Ruger LCP II, so I have a feeling it's just a Ruger design element that you have to get used to, probably the same sort of issue. Not a big deal if you train yourself to keep your thumbs off the frame, though, which you may already be doing if you shoot Sigs.
Sorry, can't give direct experience on them, though. They seem like well made guns, just a little too big for what I like to conceal (P938 size).
