Yes i'm a newfag, and I trust y'all will give me answers.
I have a K98k, M16, and a 1911 on my cart.
Should I get them? Why?
What should I replace them with? Why?
1911 is overpriced garbage
M16 is built out of glass
98K . . . Well, I don't know anything about it but considering your other picks it likely functions like a rock.

>98K . . . Well, I don't know anything about it
So you're a newfag too then?
>>35100985
you dont know your ass from a hole in the ground, either
You guys ever heard of a reputable pistol ever firing when using the decocker?
>>35100642
Yeah my condom breaking when I climax inside your mom which caused you to be born.
>>35100642
My M9 was subject to a recall of sorts when I was in Afghanistan. They had to send an armorer around to check all our M9's because they were firing when decocked.

ecks dee
That's a sticky situation for everyone involved!
Is this a good plane?
it's not american so no
In 1981? Not bad.
In 2017? Embarrasing.

Given the airframe's age it's still holds up well for the ground attack role, its life as an interceptor wasn't that great or eventful. So until F35 procurement gets done, or they give the Typhoon some ground attack capabilities its likely to stay in service a couple more years.
Home security thread?
>not having a CCTV system so you can view scum fleecing your property and act accordingly
>not having an alarm to wake you up should someone force a lock or slip through a door you forgot to bolt
>not having remote floodlights to blind cunts so they can't see you approaching them from your home
The first line of defence should always be visible deterrence.
The second line of defence is always good intelligence...
>be me
>computer pings because it's detected motion
>see some upstanding gentlemen crouching in the bushes at the back of my yard (high as fuck since they're rose bushes and must've been stinging him to fuck)
>clearly thinks he's invisible, actually illuminated by IR like fucking daylight
>walk out to "meet him"
>still thinks I have no idea until I get within about 2m and tell him to fuck off or get fucked
>rustles and bolts back through the gate which was kindly left unlocked by family earlier in the day
>possibly avoided a home invasion attempt or just him stealing my bike.

Also inb4 muh dog, a dog can be poisoned, sleeping or just not give a fuck.
I live in a third floor walkup apartment next to some middle class suburbs.
It just isn't worth breaking into my house, both because it's physically harder to get in and out, and because the person who lives there is obviously poorer than his neighbors.
Get better at being poor.
It probably cost sub $1000 for the whole set up, the reduction in house insurance costs paid that back in like, 2 years.
He was clearly unarmed - I wouldn't do such a thing ATF, I promise!

Neck yourself, fauna-lover.
how do i become a secret agent that's not just a paper pusher and actually does shit. i know most jobs in law enforcement and intelligence involve unholy amounts of paper work and sitting on your ass tapping phones (or more recently monitoring internet history) but i'm that doesn't bother me, i just want to get some shit done and help some people, i don't want to be some action hero. so what do ?
>how do I become james bond IRL, 4chan help!
Your life up to this point was a test for becoming an agent, and you just failed.
The most 'action' secret agents do is cultivating informants. Otherwise it's probably 99% desk work. Otherwise, why the fuck have special forces branches in military.
Secret agents do not help people, they help states. At best, they comprise the safety of people in order to get the intelligence they need. At worst, they get people killed for the benefit of the state. Rarely does that benefit translate to the benefit of society, most of the time it would benefit the political elite, the rich, and economic interests.
If you want to actually help people, become involved in something that is transformative for the better. Intelligence work does not and cannot by its very nature make a better society, even at its best its a safeguard for making sure we don't have a worse society.
>>35100743
i literally said i don't want that, just doing work that matters, not monitoring irrelevant people to world security that just happened to piss of the cia
>>35100782
well that's a bummer. like i said, i don't mind doing surveillance and paper work but i want it to amount to something ie. people not getting killed. anyway what are you suggesting
Thinking about buying some old guns from WWII. Kinda set on getting a Mosin and a PPSH, but I keep hearing mixed messages about the Mosin, what's your opinion on the Mosin, /k/? I hear the sniper variant is more reliable, but I obviously am unsure and am asking this board for help since I have no life outside of this site.
Also, I know that the PPSH and Mosin load a 7.62 cartridge, but since I am a dumb American pigdog, can someone tell me what the caliber equivalent of this cartridge is?
>>35100147
7.62x25 pistol ctrg, like a shitty 9mm
vs
7.62x54R, a shitty, heavier 7.62x51
>>35100147
If you buy a Mosin buy a Finish Mosin, they're worth the extra money. The 7.62x54r fired in rifles is different than the bullet fired in the ppsh which is a necked pistol round. 7.62 is in the 30 caliber family
OP here, just forgot to make a clarification like a moron. I meant to ask whether or not to buy the sniper variant, since the bolt is supposedly more reliable and user friendly.
Also, for the PPSh, should I just not bother buying one, or should I fork over the massive amount of cash to have a modern remake of it, with composite metal build and the such?
Not the same ass hat from yesterday, but kind of the same idea. I bike to and from work about 10 miles each way on a bike path that leads straight to my job. There has recently been a short, nasty, presumably rich, weekend warrior giving me shit every time I pass him on the same uphill every Saturday. He tries kicking my front wheel as I ride by, screams about how much of an armature (pronounces it ametoor) I am, and is just an all around general nuisance. My question is, how do I go about getting him to stop? Should I get the police involved and get the months long run around, or should I bike by every so often on a different bike with my face covered and mace his ass when he flips out, then dart off and claim self defense (because that's what it is) if I do happen to get caught? I'm not really entertaining the second idea, but I might have to protect myself if he does escalate it any further. Also, alternative self defense general I guess.
>>35099997
Snap him in half if he escalates it, make sure to have it on video.
>>35099997
Go to your local hardware store and buy 2 feet of the smallest chain they have. The next time you ride by him throw the chain at his sprocket.
>>35100016
This.
He's in a public setting and has no expectation of reasonable privacy I.e you can take video of him without permission. Just make sure he gets a few shitty jabs in or kicks to seal the whole "self defense" deal.

I'm hoping to be a Space Operations Officer in the air force after I graduate college. https://www.airforce.com/careers/detail/space-operations-officer
I'm not kidding myself, I know it's POG as fuck, but I'm studying computer science and want to do something more meaningful than work at a dime a dozen hipster startup that lasts 6 months tops. My question is, how can I be a POG without being a tool?
Find an Air Force ROTC Detachment. Some have recently (this is the first year) offered 1 and 2 year courses for college juniors and seniors. It's quicker than OCS and you might even get a scholarship out of it. Even if there isn't one at your school, they'll work with you.
Det. 685 here, SCO BEAVS.
Bumping, I'm not deluding myself by pretending I'm going to be a lean, mean, killing machine, but is there anything more I can do?
>>35099969
Good to know, I'm a junior in college and kind of clueless about how to go about preparing.
What's /k/'s opinion on Acogs? I've always been impressed with the stories of them stopping bullets and surviving fires but I'm guessing since you're average civilian isn't engaging man sized targets at medium to long range to often and the price means there are smarter choices than a Acog. So are they just for show or a practical choice?
I love mine. The miniscule eye relief means it's impossible the have both buis and a comfortable cheek weld. It's crisp and precise enough to plink NRA rams at 550yds.
In all honesty, though, it's a gucci item because it's expensive for what you get. I only bought mine to complete my A4gery
>>35099777
i have one of the cheep chinese airshit ones.
Its not too bad for being 1/10th the price of a real one.
but you wont find me spending 1k on one.
im not going to war and dont care about the overly rugged aspect.

what makes certain uniforms more/less IR reflective?
which materials are the least IR reflective?
i heard solid black uniforms stand out extremely bright against NV compared to the environment, is this true? what about O.D and khakis?
last and most important question, if you were to make a ghillie suit from scratch, which materials/dyes would you use to make it as NV-proof as possible?
pic possibly related, second uniform stands out bright compared to surroundings, whereas the first one blends in well.
actual operators makes their own ghillies with hessian
IR and NV is not the same
>>35099964
>IR and NV is not the same
I mean...NV image intensifiers intensify light that is high frequency infrared and near infrared.
NV just enhances the light and makes you see better
IR detects heat
to hide from NV using the shadows actually works, since all it does is enhancing light. Also use same colors and break shapes to blend in, as you would during the day
it is insanely hard to hide yourself completely from thermal goggles while maintaining line of sight
speaking from experience
