What's the weirdest "self-defense weapon" you've ever seen or heard of, /k/?

The weirdest self defense "tip" i got was when I was in community college from a fat weeb who said that what he was going to carry is a glock with "half rubber bullets and half real bullets" so he could shoot a robber with the rubber bullets and if he didn't stop, then shoot him with the real stuff. unsurprisingly he was also taking Kendo lessons
>>
The little metal ball wrapped with paracord in that monkey fist knot.

It is the dumbest invention for a self defense weapon.
>>
Well it wasn't intended as a self defense weapon but it happened that way.

I work in the O and P field and had a patient who was large but not really fat. 6 4 ish at 235lbs. He'd lost a leg in a motorcycle accident below the knee. He wanted a specialty foot so he could keep riding and used a cane for confidence cuz he royally fucked his knee on the amputated side in the same crash.

So anyway he kept fucking up his fake leg from various shit. Once a piece of road debris, another accident, and a drunken mishap with his cousin's boyfriend crushing his foot with a bobcat. This was over a period of ten years so not anything I'd call above average for catastrophic equipment failure typically seen.

So i made him a set of heavy duty motorcycle boots with a tool steel cage and a custom stainless pylon and fairing for a new carbon Kevlar socket. Looked sick and tough as fuck.

So some Yahoo tried to rob him and took his cane. So he popped his leg off and beat the fuck out of said yahoo with his fake leg.

Hey /k/, I've seen some of the enlistment general threads and I was hoping some of you AD or retired guys could offer me some advice.

So I just graduated highschool, I'm 18 so inb4 underage, and I'm looking to start my career in the armed forces.

Right now I'm leaning towards either Navy or Marine Corps. I think I'm fit for both Navy special warfare and MARSOC, but I just can't decide. And before you go assuming shit, I'm 5'9" 180lbs. My 1.5 mile time is 10:46, max push ups is 48, max sit ups is 68, so I'm good enough for any unit.

My biggest dilemma is officer or enlisted. Obviously officers are better and make more money and live more comfortably, but enlisted do more operational tasks. I can do both, but if you were in my shoes, what would you do?

Be like this cool guy. He put in the hard work. He works for a living. You want to work for a living, don't you?

If I as an enlistedfag can suffer, everyone else should suffer alongside me.
>>
Officer is probably a better career path, enlisted might be more interesting if you're planning on doing one deployment and bailing.

It all depends on how much you enjoy the suck.

Looking to buy my first rifle to use both for target practice and hunting. I've seen how cheap the mosin nagant 91/30 is and was wondering if its a good idea to buy one. What should I look for in buying one? Thanks

>>34508555
get a K31 instead. now that Mosins aren't $100 anymore, ther is literally zero reason to buy one.
>>
>>34508555
>if its a good idea to buy one.

They're just not that cheap anymore. Buy a Savage Axis or a Ruger American.
>>
Unless you want a mosin I'd get something else like a Savage axis or a Ruger American. Either will give you a much better and accurate rifle for just a little more at this point. 54r is getting up there and it will only get worse, whereas .308 and 06 will remain common and fairly cheap + you can reload them.

I like surplus more than new, but in this case I'd recommend you go with something other than a mosin, even if you want surplus you can get a surplus rifle that will serve you better than a mosin. An SKS for example, you can hunt just about anything with it and it's not going to have an issue with ammo any time soon. Enfields are good too, but ammo can be an issue. The 1907 is what immediately sticks out to me if you want a bolt action, you get a cheap, accurate, beautiful surplus rifle chambered in one of the most common hunting rounds in North America.

Depending on your location I would recommend an SKS though, it gives you the power to hunt deer and small bear and still be able to plink for cheap. I live in Florida and I got an SKS for these reasons specifically.

hey there k,
Just curious, If someone told you a story, how fucked up would it have to be for you to say, "you know what, fuck that, listen, go to this location, ask for mike, tell him ur name and that bill sent ya, he'll hook you up with a .45 semi auto and a silencer, maybe if he likes ya hell give some kind of .308ar he has layin around or at least a cheap yet mean shotty,
and some ammo."

What's the status of California's new laws? It seems like an absolute clusterfuck, where nothing is being accomplished.

>Several proposed versions of the new bullet button/"Assault weapon" laws have been rejected, and the deadline has been moved forward to 7/1/2018
>Missed the deadline for establishing ammo vendor regulations
>Correct capacity magazine infringements were successfully injuncted

It's starting to look like we're going to win by default, simply because the enemy is too incompetent to do anything right.

If high cap mags are legal to own/use in Ca if they've been in your possession since before 2000 how would the state gubmint go about enforcing high cap laws on people who have been residents since before then and just bring high cap mags from other states? Do they look for proof of purchase or something?
>>
>>34508145
That's just it, it's unenforceable.

As the law stands (not the new recently injuncted legislation), you literally have to admit to breaking the law. The 5th amendment asserts your right to remain silent. So you basically have to dig your own grave. The new laws would've changed that.

im not limp wrist. On the recoil the extractor is dragging it down into the gun instead of out. It gets wedged in there pretty good. I am ready to dump the gun.

Looking for a rational discussion without shit posting on whether the Tavor x95 is worth purchasing. I'm looking for something that isn't an AR and would be fun to shoot. My main concerns are that some reviews say it isn't a particularly accurate rifle. So do any of you guys have experience with the rifle or thoughts on it?

>>
>>34505203
i too have heard claims of its inaccuracy. of course, the counter argument is that its a combat bullpup, not a precision rifle and that it has, at the very least, acceptable accuracy. i think this is a vlid point. the reason i dont want one: the tavor does nothing for me. on paper and pictures its cool. after handling and shooting it, very meh. i havent shot an x95 but id bet theyre similar enough for me to feel the same way.
>>
>>34505215
Mainly looking for some honest opinions on the rifle. I'm sure there's a few people on this Cambodian anime board who own or have used the x95

I'm thinking of getting a revolver. I always loved them and have grown up shooting them. Recently I shot a 7 shot Ruger and I was excited and confused. I don't know why but I guess I had never heard that revolvers come in over 6 shots other than ones in .22lr. I like the idea of having an extra round but for some odd reason the idea of 7 rounds puts me off. I don't know how to explain it but it just feels wrong after all these years of shooting 6 shot revolvers. What are /k/'s thoughts on revolvers with 6+ rounds?
