I recommend checking out a few /k/ related youtube channels, shows and games. A personal favorite is Forgotten Weapons, but a lot of the non-shooting videos might be too technical for a newbie.

pro tip -- if you're not behind steel plates, sandbags and/or reinforced concrete then all your cover is really doing is blocking the line of sight so the shooter can't see what he's shooting at and will most likely miss his target

if you can somehow "see" your target or know where behind cover they are then shooting thru walls, cars, fridges, doors, floors, ceilings, is not that big a deal
