Why did the A3 Nimbus have such a short service span? its fucking beautiful and so sleek, nothing else flew or handled quite like it. Who's retarded fucking idea was it to retire it after 4 FUCKING YEARS of active service for the infinitely more shit TIE/LN?

Had tons of software bugs, couldnt land properly unless on a perfect surface, was a pain in the ass for maintanance crews, oxygen system broke down, was way over budget and late

Do I need to continue?
>>
>>34521339
It wasnt more shit, the TIE system was a maintenance dream, was as fast as an Xwing designed years later, and had superior sensors.

V-wing was a solution to a problem that didnt really exist.
>>
>>34521339
>4 years

The V-wing predated the TIE by over 10 years

At 6-7 seconds you see the muzzle sticking out, some fake ass muzzle flash and no muzzle flip whatsoever

Planning on buying a Glock 23 (Gen 4 obviously) for my CCW, but I'm open to any suggestions of a "better" compact pistol. I have a G30 but it's just too damn beefy, sits really uncomfortably and is hard to truly conceal unless you're fat or wearing a lot of layers. I'm pretty much just going by experience here, and the only other handguns I've carried are a Sig226 in .357 and Kahr Mk9 in 9mm, the former being too expensive per round and too big a gun for CC and the latter being too small of a caliber for me to confidently travel with. The availability and performance of .40S&W along with the size of the Glock is enough to sway me at this point.
What does /k/ think?

I'd prefer 9mm but for ccw a compact glock works fine.
>>
>>34521239
I have a 23 for my duty carry. I guess it depends on how you're carrying, iwb or owb or whatever. I have mine owb with something overtop. It's slightly bulky for different types of carrying.

Have you checked out the sub-compact line? I know your sacrificing a few rounds for a thinner smaller gun, but it may be better for concealing.

Just buy a G30s, the dimensions of the slide forth is the same as the g19/g23 and you have the benefit of already owning g30 mags and having .45 ammo (if you do have ammo)

Just saying, I own one and it's great, though a littler snappier on the recoil since the slide isn't as thick. I think it would be the best budget choice, but if you want something the size of a g23 I'd just go with the g19, it's the gold standard and I don't know if it's a meme or not but I've always heard .40 is shit and it's harder on the barrel/gun

Anyway take all that for what it's worth

I wouldn't worry about it, inexperience isn't stupidity. Just continue to enjoy shooting as best you can where you live and dream of wide open backyard ranges.

If I only had a collector's piece and I needed a working gun(working as in one I'd use for an actual task like CCW). I'd sell the collector's piece and buy something modern that was suitable to my requirements. I wouldn't trust my life to 75yr old parts unless I had no choice.

My apartment doesn't allow firearms or ammo in the lease agreement. In my state at least, you can keep guns encased in your car as they are considered an extension of your private dwelling. And in extremely "gun free zones" such as a college campuses, state Court has ruled students can keep guns in their cars.

So my question is this; can I keep guns/ammo in my car parked in the complex without breaking my lease agreement? My vehicle is my property not theirs, however my vehicle is ON their property which is what I'm not sure of. The lease probably covers all apartment property because it also has a similar rule for shooting off fireworks on the premises.

The reason for this is I ordered some ammo online and it will be shipped to my apartments mail center. They don't check our mail but it might be obvious what it is.

I lived in a no guns apartment for 8 months and it was absolute hell. Just keep your guns in there and fucking dont say anything. Get a case and bring them in and out at night. Or what >>34521112 said. You do have certain right theyre not really supposed to infringe upon. My landlord found out eventually I had guns and it was pretty much a quick talk about it and never mentioned again.
>>
Many states have laws that prohibit this. Check state and local laws.

If there are laws in place keeping you from lawfully keeping a gun in your residence get a guitar case.

Fuck off, that was a pretty good video. I was also surprised at how open to learning Lindy was when it came to guns, when he lives in a place that actively discourages guns of all types.
>>
>>34521091
Ditto.

British people trying to impersonate an American accent of a French-Canadian name (Lindy's drawl wasn't half bad) and 'ear defenders' made me smile.

So approximately how many bongs would have to get interested in old rifles for the Brits to consider letting their citizens own bolt actions in military calibers again?

Is there a reason I shouldn't buy this, other than "HUEHUEHUE TAURUS"?

>5 rounds of .380
>implying that moon clips aren't a PITA to carry compared to speed strips and mags

I'd try to get a LWS .380 instead, but they are expensive and hard to find. 13.7oz loaded, 6+1 capacity, incredibly concealable.
>>
>>34520733
Looked into it. They're too ammo sensitive and the manual arms is pants-on-head retarded thanks to the stupid non-removable safeties.
>>
>>34520753
The mag safety is indeed quite silly, and it has a euro style mag release, but ammo sensitivity isn't such a large disadvantage for a mouse gun that doesn't even have sights. You'd probably only shoot it enough to cycle out old defensive ammo. Not exactly comfortable, just intended to be as concealable as possible.

I'd say so, the steel would be too thick to resonate properly when hit, so there'd be no reverberation on the inside.

Spalling would be the biggest issue but that seems to have been avoided due to the composition and manufacturing methods for metal fortifications.
I'm probably stupid but I have a hard time following all the archaic names for certain types of iron and their method of construction, But I have come down to 3 types of iron that I can say were commonly used in fortification.

In order of most effective to least the 3 types of iron fortification I read about are: Rolled, Hammered, and Cast (Referred to as Chilled iron).
Additionally malleable metals of about 18' proved to be more effective than hard/face-hardened metals measuring 20-23" thick because they wouldn't shatter after repeated hits.

Any gun just fire in the air or shoot one guy and they will shit bricks and run they only do this because they know they will get away with it hence the masks. Only few will see consequences.

When Sally Snowflake or Frankie Faggot is walking your way with a lit Molotov in hand, shoot him in the fucking dick. Any mag fed centerfire rifle will suffice. Repeat as necessary to stop the threat.

A semi-automatic rifle has a bolt that will move once you fire it. On a gas-operated rifle, disconnecting the gas piston (or just shutting off the gas block) would stop the rifle from functioning. This means it would basically work as a straigh-pull bolt action rifle.
Since the bolt would not move in this case, would it improve accuracy?

On a semi-related note, just exactly how much energy is used to cycle an action?

Ask Australians, that's how they butcher rifles to make them complaint
>>
>>34520343
>would it improve accuracy?

It's more about the fact that the bolt is not slamming into the breech. But in theory yes

>just exactly how much energy is used to cycle an action?

Depends on the rifle and its cartridge, but not enough to make an appreciable difference. When comparing bolt action and semi-auto, the difference in velocity, given equal barrel lengths, is usually within 60 feet per second
>>
>>34520343
>Since the bolt would not move in this case, would it improve accuracy?
No. The bullet is long gone from the rifle before the bolt is even unlocked.
