It less about looking down on DIY stuff and more about making "mods" to already fine military rifles because muh inventor. For example you modify some 10/22 with some random shit in your garage people would care less. You take a mid 60's Soviet SKS and stick random shit on it and people get pissed.

Nope, Just tested my best revolver (S&W model 19-4) against my best semi-auto. (S&W SD9).
The SD9's trigger felt like a wet sponge. Even when I was right on target shots were firing very low. The 19-4 was right on target with extremely tight groups center mass. With that said, I'll admit it may not be a fair comparison and I plan on replacing the trigger on my SD9 as soon as possible although I learned today that I much prefer revolvers over semi-autos in general. With that said, neither of them malfunctioned once which is nice.

It's not a bad shotgun, but it's pretty useless for hunting, and for the same price range you can get a home defense pump gun with more capacity.

The old list needs some updating. Currently the go-to guns seem to be the 10/22 and the Maverick 88. For a little cheaper then the Mav, you can have a Stevens 301, which are nice, or for even less a $99 Hatfield, which aren't nice.
