What's a good semi automatic rifle for someone who is just getting into guns? I have an 870 right now, but I want something with some range.
$500 is my soft limit
>>34553155
ar15 or sks
>>34553155
Get you an AMD from classic if you want an AK
>>34553159
>ar15
Can I even buy a good one for $500?
>Buy M70A
>four years later the magazines are still unobtanium
Anyone else get burned by this meme gun? I thought a 9mm tok for $250 would be the shit but Jesus. The mags are on eBay for half the price of the gun.
>>34553088
>9mm
That isnt the memetic gun, you got a retarded copy and still paid too much for it.
>>34553095
>9mm tok
>not a complete meme
And if like you to show me a local shop selling these for $200. You're going to be out $250 for one at the very least, especially online since you faggots always omit the tax, shipping and transfer.
>>34553088
buy mags when you buy the gun. or before.
>I know I'm resurrecting a thread from a couple months ago, but one little thing I wanted to pass along regarding Zastava M70A magazines: Walther P38/P1 magazines can be modified to fit the M70A.
I saw the question about if the Walther mags would work in some forum several weeks ago - don't remember which one. Since I have a P1 & a M70A, I checked fit and function. I held a P1 mag filled w dummy rounds in the Zastava, and cycled the slide. The cartridges fed & ejected, and the empty mag held the slide open. So far, so good.
In the last week I got around to ordering a couple of extra P1 mags & they arrived today. Since the P1 has a heel mag release there are no mag catch holes along the sides. Even if my experiment wouldn't work, I could always use them in the Walther.
Using needle files, I filed out a notch matching the M70A mag opening as closely as I could (measure carefully, file slowly). The results are in pics below. Hand cycling for function, it works. The angle of the mag base is slightly different than the originals - not pretty, but it works. I'll need to check it at the range - if it fails I'll report back. So, if you can't get extra mags for your M70A, you can make some from P1 mags.
Hey /k/ just bought this new 8mm Mauser for $375 from my local Point Blank, did i do good?
And yes i know its bubbad af
>>34552822
I was confused as fuck as to what the hell that thing was, then I realized bubba tried to turn a Mauser into a Steyr Scout.
Grind off the front sight post and it might actually look a bit neato.
>>34552822
You got robbed.
>>34552822
I like the Steyr Scout styled mauser stock
how is it?
Did McCain really cause the accident on the Forrestal or is that just a meme?
It's a meme but there are plenty of other reasons to hate McCain so it's alright

I'm thinking of buying the taurus pt111 g2 for my mom's concealed carry as a birthday gift. What are your thoughts on the gun?

What appealed to me the most was the price, safeties, size and basically most of the good stuff people say about it on youtube. You guys got anything else to add that I need to know?

New owner of a .45 glock handgun here, looking for a free, online resource for learning how to shoot well in defensive situations. Don't want to pay the tacticool tool at the range 300 bucks to take a course and get a certificate that means fuck all in the real world. Anybody know of something like this?

Watch Paul Harrell videos.
The Yankee Marshall also has great gun advice and commentary

This is bait. Ignore it OP. YM is a fucking idiot and will give you horrible advice.
Recently built this rifle and everything went flawlessly except there is some fitment issues between the upper and lower receiver. This allows a tiny wobble movement and was wondering if /k/ had any suggestions on how to fix

accu wedge. If you cannot afford make one.

You, me and everyone here know that .22LR is the best rifle round there is.
>cheap

>easy on newbies
>rewarding for the more experienced
>.22 guns are cheap
>is a great pistol round too!
>can take small game
>easy on the ears (still wear ear protection!)
>.22 is the old grandfather of firearm calibres. teaches you important lessons, is nice and easy on you and your pleasant memories with him will still stick around even when he is gone from your life/gun safe.

Was looking for some basic advice, what to see and what not to see, etc. I'm visiting a friend over in North Carolina, and wanted to see if any /k/ommando's wanted to plink some cans innawoods with an Ausfailian sometime within the next 6 months?
You can hit up my email [email protected] if y'all are interested, otherwise, tips for shootin' and visitin' the states as a 'Strayan.

>in the distance you can hear some screams and people running away
>you look down and have trouble focusing but can see the now still laid out body, oozing blood from the chest
>he coughs violently and some wet luke warm splatter hits your face

Why does /k/ seem to hate the browning hi power? In my experience, I hardly notice the shitty trigger and it's an excellent pointer, so I don't see what the problem is.
>>34551540
Muh lol9mm.meme
Price check on c&r eligible israeli surplus hi powers on gunbroker for ~$570.
Is this a good deal considering the state of the finish or am I better off waiting for a nicer one at the same price point?
>just missed out on a near perfect finish, non import marked one for the same price since seller pulled listing early while I was making arrangements with FFL.
>probably a fluke and will not happen again for a while
>>34551540
Retards incorrectly equate the typically gritty pre-travel with the kind of grit a bad double action trigger would have. It's worse when they use terms for it that they don't understand and confuse the other newfags. Every Hi Power I've ever shot has had a crisp trigger with virtually no creep at all and just broke like a glass rod.
>>34551571
I'm familiar with this seller, and their prices are generally on the high side of market value, but not unfair. That's just what you get with a buy it now style listing. When I was watching Hi Power auctions on Mach1 Arsenal's page, guns in this kind of condition would sell for as low as $450 sometimes, and as high as $550 other times. Auctions fluctuate based on the amount of retards who get emotionally invested in a particular gun and don't understand that there will always be more available later down the road. Once they get a fair amount of holster wear, they lose almost all of their collector value, so $450-550 (don't take an average, it's a fluctuating price) is simply a good standardized price for them.
Take a close look at the photos, understanding that the people who work at this particular gun dealer are retarded and don't know how to use a camera. Almost all of their photos will be too close and out of focus to see the actual condition. I ordered a gun from these people once and was incredibly annoyed to realize how much worse the gun looked compared to how their photos depicted it. Look for tell-tale signs of heavy wear, like patina in the finish, ugly scratches or spots of pitting. I would want to get a gun with minimal patina and minimal pitting. Sometimes these guns will have some pitting in the bore, but usually not.
Real talk: Why is this the only European country without draconian gun laws?
Don't the czechs have decent gun laws? Slovenia is not that bad as well, I think.
Thought Finland had okay laws
>>34551125
Slovenia is indeed cool. I'm not sure if they're allowed to have machineguns over there, but they might be.
Is the Kampilan a bad sword? does the unusual pommel offer any disadvantage?
>>34551094
It's probably decent enough. I don't see the pommel getting in the way, and I can't remember any major issue either from when I've held one, though that's starting to be quite a while since by now.
>>34551094
They are great for their intended purpose; killing other tribal folks (and Marines LOL). They are very large for a filipino blade.
That pommel would have some small degree of utility as a weapon in its own right, but its really just meant to keep it in your hand. Filipinos like that type of hand-catching action. You'll see the swollen pommel grips on the end of Goloks and barongs as a further example.
