Why do Colt pistols from the 1970's cost more on auction sites and at gun stores than modern Colt ARs do today? I see 70's-era .45 pistols going for over $1K nowadays. Are they actually worth that much?
>>34572166
When Colt introduced the Series 80 in 1983, they introduced a firing-pin block into the pistol. Many feel it is unecssary, adds more parts that can go wrong, and suppossedly makes the trigger worse.
>>34572195
Why add the feature? Series 70s not drop safe?
>>34572195
the "GI" spec 1911 I built doesn't have that stupid thing, "series 80" or not isn't what determines the price.
believe me.
>>34572202
it was perfectly safe, Commifornian Jews wanted to make Colt fuck up their guns.
Is there any way Germany could have beaten the landings on d-day?
Would it have changed the war if d-day had failed?
>>34572158
Delayed the inevitable yes. Change the outcome in amy meaningful way? No.
Germany was strategically beaten at this as its resources was steadily depleting. One major point of the allied strategy in WWII was waging a long term war of attrition that they knew Germany couldn't keep up with.
The most important thing would be to stop the Allied air interdiction campaign against your railway stations, bridges, and fuel depots that fuck up your logistics, but you're going to need more than flak and a gutted airforce to do that.
Step one: steal all the doormats in town.
Explain to me how free-floating rifles work, /k/. What does it contribute to the gun and why do snipers cream their pants over it?
'Free-floating' means that the stock (or handguard) does not come into contact with the barrel, and thus does not affect point of aim.
It is only one small part contributing to the overall accuracy of a weapon.
>>34571736
It allows more consistent shooting (so also more precision) because the barrel is allowed to "vibrate" freely after firing, not touching the stock.
>>34571736
Free floating refers to the action of making it so nothing is touching the barrel of the firearm, and it's only connected via a small barrel nut that's very stiff near the receiver, like on an AR. Other ways of attaching may vary.
Free floating can do 2 things:
1. It makes it so that nothing it resting on the barrel when it's being held or propped up against something for stability. Obviously not having something possibly pressing on your barrel is a good thing
2. It can improve barrel harmonics, whatever that means.
Memes aside, how does a ramp work? If the aircraft has not enough runway to accelerate the ski-jump doesn't make it faster (probably slower, since it has do move upwards with the same momentum), it also doesn't provide significantly more height. So, where does the magic happen?
It angles the plane upward increasing lift
>>34571532
More Angle of attack = more lift
Catapults increase lift by having higher vilocity.
Ramps do it by having more aggressive angle of attack.
Theoretically you can have some system of discarding wing sections to increase lift by increasing area.
Someone please tell me things will be better.
>>34571532
you will never see anything with a less than very high thrust to weight ratio on a carrier with a ramp, because it just launches the planes up higher, allowing them the time and space to accelerate to a speed at which they can fly. Essentially it's an extension of room to accelerate. this is why the Russians typically don't fly aircraft that aren't Mig-29K or the naval variant of the SU-25 from the kuznetsov. They need that high thrust to weight ratio to accelerate up the ramp, where they'll have enough drop room to fall while they accelerate to lifting speed without hitting the water.
Guys walks up to rick with a mint condition Hi-Point 9mm, I'd llike to sell

I can't even imagine what our guns will be to future generations 300 years from now. Antiquated relics of a simpler, more savage time? Sought after grandfathered weapons before mandatory biometric registration and smart guns? Pitiful children's toys due to insane advancements in medicine as well as weapons technology?

If it works I'll do it

Could Anti-tank guns see a revival when APS make most ATGM's/missile systems dated?
Some APS can defeat APFSDS, so no, probably not.
>>34571458
Heavy recoilless rifles are more likely. The kind of AT guns required to combat modern armour are far too immobile and clumsy to operate effectively on a modern battlefield. They're an extremely niché weapon and not that good even at that.
APS are not really less effective against shells than missiles. The trick to beating APS is staying 1 step ahead of the curve with decoy technology. The most modern Kornet already has APS spoofing decoys.

1. Is the shit on top of those MRAPS a newer version of the pic? possibly?
