So I want to get something 4x4 ( I have a smaller 2 wheel drive truck I use for most of my work / business related stuff ).. But I live in an area that gets pretty snowy in the winter. I am also looking for something to tow a decent sized trailer. I have a couple M116-A3 trailers already ( one for my MEP-803 ) and another one to haul heavy stuff in ( mostly firewood, dirt, gravel, etc ). I wouldn't drive it too far, or too often. Would a military humvee be a good choice? Are they difficult to work on? Can parts be had easily? I know a few places I have read, guys pick up 2 or 3 and usually use one for parts.

>>
>>34579874
Realize, they are pretty shit all over. Nothing about it is very comfy, they are going to come to you in rough shape regardless of how you've managed to get it. Parts exist, but have a decent price associated with them. They are total bitches to work on and most often have a rather major malfunction every 20k miles or so.

On the bright side, they can go for auction as low as $500 from what I have personally seen.

Don't buy unless you are a gearhead that is prepared for a potential money pit.
>>
Humvees are a fucking disaster, theres a reason the US military bought hundreds of thousands of them, critical failures every few thousand miles of driving is normal for military vehicles.

They don't make any sense for private use over a used pickup truck.

Hi, I'm looking to purchase one of these two pistols. For now it'll be my HD, and once I'm old enough to CC I'll use it for its main purpose. In the mean time I'm going to be spending lots of time at the range as well as plinking with it.

P238 advantages: caliber has less recoil than 9mm, plus the gun is slightly lighter/smaller

P938 advantages: caliber is stronger than .380, plus the ammo is more plentiful and cheaper (P938 is the clear winner in SHTF type scenarios). There is also a .22LR conversion kit which is a big thing for me.

I've only shot a P938 once and that was today. I handled the recoil pretty well considering it was the first time I've shot a pistol in forever. It kinda bruised my trigger finger but I looked it up and others had the same issue. It can be easily fixed with a new trigger. Right now I'm leaning towards this pistol. Help convince me that I'm either right or wrong.

I've owned two P238's (one was an HD). The alloy P238 was my first CCW back in 2013 and I carried it every day for two years until I upgraded to the P938. I have since sold both of those .380's (although I regret selling the P238 HD), and I've been carrying the P938 since 2015 - about an equal amount of time at this point as I carried the P238.

There's not a huge amount of difference between the two as far as carry goes. The P238 would just disappear inside my waistband, and the P938 is the same way, although just a couple ounces heavier, which I can feel with certain belts. I feel like the P238 was small enough to pocket carry, but the P938 is just a little too long in the slide.

Shooting them, there is a huge difference. The P238 was is mildly snappy (the HD was a puppy dog to shoot, btw), but the P938 kicks like a mule, IMO, which exaggerates the sharpness of the grip serrations and the trigger, as you noted. In the two years that I owned my original P238, I easily put over 2000 rounds through it, but I still have yet to crack 500 rounds through my P938. I find that if I slack too long between shooting it at the range, my groups open up significantly. Now I'm not saying it's not easily controlled or that it's hard to shoot - the trigger is great and once I'm in the groove, I can shoot it as well as any other gun. Just that unless you practice with it enough, your skills may deteriorate, and it's not really a gun that you'll enjoy shooting. Another thing worth noting is the trigger reach is more of a normal distance on the P938, but very short on the P238, which may matter if your hands are either smaller or larger than average.

The P938 has a few known issues that Sig has yet to solve, like the guide rod unscrewing itself and flying out of the front of the gun while shooting and the 7 round magazines occasionally dropping free from the gun while shooting. I haven't experienced the former, but I have experienced the latter issue.
>>
Also, the trigger pivot pin is notoriously difficult to remove. The very small diameter, combined with the fact that it's press fitted into the frame, makes it so some gunsmiths have been known to give up trying to get it out of certain guns. A better solution to the sharp trigger is to just sand down the serrations, since it's made of polymer.

I don't have any reservations about recommending a P938, and in fact, I recently recommended one to my father. Just keep in mind that there is a bit of a catch in shooting it because it's just not that fun to shoot, so you won't really want to get it out very often.

The P238 is easier to shoot and a little lighter, but I don't feel that it's light enough to really decide on weight alone (it's still like 15 ounces). I recently picked up a Ruger LCP II and with the newly enlarged and widened grip, it's now a viable IWB carry pistol, in my mind. It's also a super light carry pistol (10.5 oz) and the recoil is less harsh than the P938, so you may want to consider one of those as well if you're on the fence about the P238.

Thank you for this. I'm probably going to go back and try out my range's P238 side by side with the P938 later this week.

so i'm trying to reload .308 for the first time, but it seems that the inside diameter of my cases are too small, shearing the bullets. im using a dillon 550B, what can i do to expand the neck by about .004? i tried pulling the sizing die back, but then the bullet just drops through the middle. thoughts? pic unrelated

Try buying a new decapping pin/neck sizer for .308, maybe the one you got in your kit is a bit out of spec. Or measure the bullets you are using; they sell bullets ranging from .303 to .312 in every size, you might be using a .309 or a .310 bullet. Other than that, all I can think of is try to buy a decapping pin for a 7.62x54R, those bullets tend to come in a lil bigger.

Idk bud that's a weird one

Aluminum frame, with a steel pin seized in place.

Need to drive that shit out, I do have a proper size pin punch but the thing will not budge.

Will letting it soak in unfuck spray make it finally mobile ? Are there any other fucky techniques a home gunsmith could use to drive it out ? Will incessant battering with said punch make the pin mushroomed much like a rivet ?

A thread doomed to autosage, a thread dedicated to gunsmithing and idiots dedicated to the subject.

Let's talk about gunsmithing.

Do you have a good bench vise? If you don't secure your frame properly, driving out pins becomes extremely difficult. Wtf has a steel pin in an aluminum frame anyway?

Step 1. Soak the pin in penetrating oil. I prefer Kroil. Let it sit for a while before attempting to drive out the pin again.

Step 2. Apply heat. You can use a hair dryer or a propane torch to heat the pin. Attempt to drive it out while it's still hot.

If all else fails, use a milling machine or a drill press to drill the motherfucker out of there.
>>
>>34578947
sometimes you need to drive them from the other direction, and i would second the heat suggestion.

consider just drilling it out before you do too much crazy shit to it, sometimes it's just about minimizing damage.
>>
>>34579003
A proper bench vise is one of the only decent things present in my life, got a good set of non-marring jaws for it too.

However, will the heat from a hair dryer be enough to warp dem dimensions enough ? Direct flame from a torch or equivalent are off the table since i can't afford to damage the frame, it's an ancient offshore produced beretta 950 in .25acp. I won't drill the pin out because my drill press is made of chinesium alloy and can't be trusted for shit.

So by the end of the year, if the HPA passes, I'm gonna have 11 Suppressors
12g for a Vepr 12
1 two piece(basically two Suppressors) capable of handling 50 bmg
2 22lr Suppressors
1 ss 10.75 458 Suppressor
1 8.375 ti 458 pistol suppressor
1 7 ss 308 suppressor
1 7 ti 357 suppressor
3 8.375 ss 308 308 and 338 Suppressors
And a bunch of extra end caps and front caps and baffles(fuck off ATF, if HPA passes or the shush act or the share act I can have extra end caps)
It's gonna be all about 2500 dollars, maybe less maybe more if I decide to melonite treat them.
My question is is how do insure them and how can I insure ammo?

Moving with vast quantities of guns?

Soooo i wish to leave my cuck state in the future and am wondering if you kommandos have experience with moving a lot of guns.

Like 30 guns.

And 20k rounds of ammo.

And an 800lb safe.

I could part with a few of them but most I can't

What's the question?

Moving companies move your stuff.
If you do it yourself, you move your stuff.
>>
>>34578503

How do you ensure the safety of your investment?

We all know moving companies don't give a fuck. With guns though, there's no second chances.

"Oh sorry bruh, I broke your SVT 40 handguard. Sorry"

Rent a moving truck and do it yourself with the help of not retarded friends or family.
