Oh boy, another internet elistist .
Here's the rundown on Cold Steel. Most people on /k/ only know the new improved Cold Steel and aren't familiar with how they were before, thinking all the crap people talk about them is memes.
Swords:
>tough and durable
>otherwise bad
>terribly balanced
>not put together very well
>some of the new ones are actually good (the ones they bothered to consult an expert for)
Knives
>strongest locking systems
>have upped their game in steels and grinds in the past 2-3 years
>cheap knives are good value or acceptable only because they're cheap
>mid-tier knives are great
>high-tier knives are overpriced for what you're getting
Machetes
>a bit expensive for a machete, but otherwise serviceable
>main appeal is vaguely resembling swords and selling like hotcakes to mall ninjas
Self Defense products
>relatively sturdy but otherwise super gimmicky and mall ninja
Other
>has a history of shady business practices
>known for biting off other manufacturers
>also known for frivolous lawsuits
>marketing team is the equivalent of the internet tough guy or the guy with a tapout shirt at the bar who wants to fight everybody

Did anyone here go to SHOT? It was pretty average, Warwick had the same shit with the only update that they now have their own factory to make the WFA1, but it will still cost the same and probably won't be shipped till 2019, anyone still gonna buy one?
Just bought this for my MVP, wanted a strike eagle but couldn't justify the cost. Recommendations for rings?

tacticool douche who thinks owning an ar makes him badass or something. he's like 95% of gun youtubers out there.
Creepy little Asian man who unironically smokes to 'look cool.' Like most gun youtubers he believes that his (almost always flawed) opinion is gospel. At least he doesn't keep a clearing bucket.

ITT: dogs of war
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTSkvK7jmwY
Dogs have been in war since we invented it. Its part of why we took them in. The pack leader chooses to move in on the losing side, winners see it as favor of the wolf god or w/e. In comradery, we share the plunder as a sacrifice. They follow us home, become useful grunts and later sentinels.
>>34602694
Did you let them slip?
>>34602694
That's really cute, did the dog come with them after?
What was your first gun? Do you still have it? What did you learn from it? Would you make the same choice again?
My first was a Norinco SKS. I still have it and shoot it from time to time. The most important thing I learned from it was that you shouldn't fuck with a gun's original design and purpose too much. If you need something different, buy a different gun designed for that role. Tried putting a couple different tactical stocks, optics, etc. on it, but every time I gravitated back to its traditional wood and fixed mag configuration because I found it the most comfortable and reliable. If I could go back, I'd choose an SKS again, though in retrospect, I sort of wish I'd gone with a Yugo instead.

Mosin. I learned J&G sales will give you a sewer pipe barrel but it was so cheap at the time I didn't care. Got nicer mosins and that one is gone.
10/22. Pimped it out and then sold it upon realization that all the invested in such an average rifle could have been spent on a high quality bolt action .22.
Since the 5.7x28 mm is becoming quite popular thanks to its ability to penetrate body armor, why not neck down a 45 ACP to 5.7mm with a 40 degree shoulder angle and put it in a 1911? You should be able to get at least 750 m/s at the muzzle with the right powder.
>>34602294
I don't think that would feed very reliably.

There's one advantage revolvers will always have over automatics: their cartridges are not limited by the size of the human hand. Trying to fit long cartridges into an automatic gives you this ungainly monstrosity: the Coonan.
>>34602206
I wanted one of these very badly until I actually found one and felt that grip. Then I settled for a 1911 in 10memeameter.
>>34602229
To be fair, automatics can compensate for shorter cases by bottlenecking. 38/45 Clerke has about the same ballistics as 357 magnum, and 400 Corbon is about the same as 10mm auto.

What actually is a 'thot'? I don't keep up with millennial culture. I've heard the word around quite a bit in the last year.

The contrarian counterculture of the 60s-70s that promoted free love and tolerance and equality and all of that has now become enough of a mainstream thing that contrarians have wrapped right back into traditional values purely to spite the prevailing wisdom/paradigm

hey guys, i dont normally post, but ive worked my way through half a fifth of vokda purely out of sadness and loneliness over some girl. Currently the only thing keeping me from becoming another statistic used against personal gun ownership is the lack of 7.62x39.
That being said, unfortunately i live in a place where most of my options are indoor ranges and i need something not magnetic. any suggestions?
