Let's begin by saying I don't think this will amount to anything other than a set of prints and maybe one prototype, so if anyone actually likes this idea don't get your hopes up. The thought exercise is the point.
That out of the way, I'd like to slap together a straight pull rifle that is pleasant to use while leeching off of modern firearm production and aftermarket as much as possible, with the only custom machine work being a receiver, fcg (maybe), and modifications to a stoner gas bolt carrier group. Think of this as trying to prototype a rifle for Austrian military trials c.1900, but with the modern firearms industry serving as the available parts, technology, and manufacturing. The problem is, I don't have a solid idea of what makes a good-feeling manually operated repeating rifle. Let's talk broad strokes, in the same arguments everybody got into in decades past. Cock on open v cock on close, manual safety location (tang, bolt, thumb safety on receiver), provisions for any combination of sighting options or focusing on either irons or optics, etc.
Reading recommendations are also welcome.
Aren't there already straight-pull AR-15-derivatives?

I'm thinking of trying to fit the action into a Remington 700 stock, Winchester model 70 stock, or put a shotgun stock on the back if nothing else. At that point you might as well just use a side charging upper on an SCR lower with the gas system disabled, so I'd rather not. I'm also thinking of having an open top action that allows you to top off the magazine or feed it from a stripper clip if you so desired.

As someone working up a modern Lee Navy, I sincerely hope you fail so I can reap the money there is to be had in this market.
However if your design is better, I hope you win.
Could anyone tell the name of this? I don't remember

Let's say that the Stargate franchise does not exist so you have no knowledge of it. The US Air Force has succesfully opened it for the first time and you are now in charge of creating the team that will be first to explore as well as the back up teams. Assuming you have the same budget as the Stargate program of the show, where would you recruit soldiers from and what would you outfit them with? Feel free to recruit from PMCs, other countries, etc. Same applies to weapons, vehicles, etc. You have total freedom.
>>35118854
>The US Air Force has succesfully {place any task here}
Things that would never happen. Reminder that the USAF shoved themselves into Stargate as an advertisement piece, the same way they did in Transformers and the first Iron Man movie before they got mad at Marvel.
>>35118854
Why is air Force in charge of Stargate? We are hopping the Galaxy threw interdimensiol space portals. Soun

I'm just trying to stick to the show's scenario. Calm your autism.
Hey /k/
I'm a gun owner, mostly Mosin rifles, a few shotguns, and some 22s.
I'm looking for a proper hand gun. There is a guy looking to trade my shitbox for a Magnum 357.
Is the S&W 357 Magnum with a 6" barrel a good hand gun to have around?
Owner claims to have at least $800 in to it. Custom grips, 7 shot barrel, some other things. No pics yet.
My shitbox is worth at least 1k.
Good trade?
Good gun?
>>35118819
Fuck you; elaborate. What do you plan on using the gun for? It'd be shit for concealed carry at the very least.
>>35118891
>Hey i want to know if trading my gun for gun x is a good idea.
>My gun is worth $x, and the other gun has x and y on it. Good trade?
>"oh my fucking god you people need to elaborate. What do you wanna use it for? Where was it made? What was the makers middle name? How many atoms of iron are in it? Oh and giant revolvers are bad for concealed carry
Fuck you

Are there any sites you guys would recommend buying from or avoiding? I saw something on grabagun that looked pretty good but I want to make sure I don't order from anywhere shady. Any other tips or recommendations? Thanks!
>>35118546
Gunbroker is solid. Of course it depends on the seller though.
Cheaper than dirt can die in a dumpster fire. Other than that most are alright. Budsgunshop is alright pricing for new guns.
>>35118546
Just compare, and contrast. Check several sites and compare prices. Pick the best one.
That's if you're buying new. Personally I wouldn't buy anything used online without finger fucking it first. But that's me.
Should i a .38sw iver johnson?

Gimmicky shit, like ARs with special features. EG: the AR57, LR300 and Ares Shrike will feature on Forgotten Weapons in 2085.
How /k/ is this movie?
>>35118333
It's ok, it definitely has leftist/ progressive undertones, but it's not a bad action movie overall if you can look past that shit.
How /k/ is this movie?
>>35118395
>overall if you can look past that shit.
And what would you see then?
>finally find out that i can shoot guns in my freedomless country if i join a club
>join historical shooting club
>borrow some swedish mauser from the club
>cant hit shit
how do you get good at this?
>>35118217
Did you not bother to ask around at the club?
>>35118217
1. Get training (watch YouTube videos of nothing else)
2. Start close, increase distance
3. Zero the weapon
>>35118276
The range the club uses is for 200 meters. I couldn't even hold the rifle steady(it was a lot heavier than i expected) and i wasn't even sure how exactly the iron sights were supposed to line up. This was the first time i even held a gun let alone fired it.
I have this knife I like but it's too small for my taste. Its a nice combination of brass, damascus and bison horn and I'd like one like it but bigger.
No one? Hell, if someone can recommend a book or a source of information on making folding knives, I'll even take that.
>>35118169
How much money do you have to spend anon?
Why don't you google it.
