What oil do you use and why?
I personally like the Hickock45 method of blasting everything with ballistol, let it sit for a minute or five, then wipe clean.
Non toxic, protects wood and leather, doesnt harm plastic, disinfects cuts, smells like a comfy bowling alley, tastes ok too. What more could you want?
>>34651940
I too use Ballistol, mostly because I live in a poorly ventilated apartment.
I only use it to clean and lube small stuff, though. Things like rails and lugs get Lucas Red 'n Sticky grease.
>>34651940
>What oil do you use and why?
I use water
sea water is best when you're near the coast. its abundant and has the added effect of being able to clean out dirt and grime
>>34651940
Similar stuff to ballistol only without any smell. Much cheaper too here in Ausfagland

Texas Thread: fuck Californian immigrants edition.
Alright Texas fags report in. Ammo check, raifu check, who else waiting on CHL renewal here?
>tfw on a cut and not eating whataburgwr
>>34650934
As much as it sucks, Texas will be CA 2.0 in just a few(4-8) years. After the majority of my family died in the Civil War, they moved to west TX to farm cattle and cotton. They made a fortune, but sold the last of it a couple years ago for obvious reasons. Last time I checked, its just wasteland owned my some multinational bank for spics to squat on.
>>34650934
This exact same shit happened last night.
Why the fuck would you make a Texas thread at fucking 1am texas time you dumb thick fuck?
protip californians don't actually move to texas because of high property taxes, the people you percive as californians are gay texans that are moving back since they got priced out of SF
Is the Century C308 a gun worth having?
Classic has a deal on them, which would make the gun about $530 after the cost of shipping and transfer fee, but then it has a $50 mail in rebate as well. Is it a good deal for the price I'm paying? I've really been looking to pick up some more guns that aren't the same old bolt action rifles I've had forever.
>>34650841
No don't do it, the new ones are Century only and they suck.
>>34650865
What makes them so bad? They can't be too terrible.
>>34650865
>the new ones are Century only
Actually most of the parts are made by PTR.
> and they suck.
A Century assembled gun will be hit or miss, look at the old WASRs. For $530 you really can't go wrong, but don't expect a quality rifle.
>take mossberg shockwave
>hand load shells with .357 powerheads bought off your friendly Amazon
>load powerheads with CCI revolver shot shells
Would this be legal, or is each round considered an individual SBS?
More importantly, is this viable for home defense?
>>34650813
Why do you want to take a powerful shotgun, set it up to fire a pistol cartridge, only to turn it into a weak shotgun? Just use it as is or get a .357 revolver.
>sitting at taco bell with my dad
>small talking about bullshit
>eating disgusting tacos
>enjoying the view
>off to my right i hear the distinct sound of a slide locking back
>my father and i look at each other like it's the last supper
>off my right i hear the distinct sound of a slide slamming forward
>my father and i both look towards the sound expecting a shootout
>behind a structural pillar at another table is some kid messing with text message sounds on his phone
Two things I took away from this. Apparently I ignore the vast majority of sounds that aren't pertinent to my safety. The other being that no one else in the joint even flinched at the sounds.
It makes sense to me now when they are interviewing people after a shooting when they say something like "it sounded like a broom stick being broken" or "I thought the screams were from a party". People are fucking oblivious to the sounds of danger.
How can someone not be alarmed by this sound? I'm sure people have heard it before in all the movies that are out there.
>TL;DR
Why are people so oblivious to danger?
>pic kinda sorta maybe related
>>34650654
Hollywood always over dramatizes effects, especially firearm effects. The average normie can't distinguish a slide racking from a padlock being closed.

this
.45 is unironically better than 9mm
9mm is passable and works but it's not good as .45 obvjectively. .45 has a much obvious more power, bigger exit hole bigger kick bigger bullet, it does more damage and does kore kick and kill
9mm can still pass and be killablke but it doesnt perform as well as the .45
its a cheap round because its weaker and not as kill friendly and it isnt as good
not saying 9mm is useless but it's not as good as .45 bjectivly
also this captcha is gay shit, it takes 10 minutes to load a new tile afte i click, how can i expectto do that while drunk, fuck mootshima
Heh.. It's called shot placement kid
>>34650417
Both suck
>>34650417
.45 are kinda pricy compared to 9mm

Shoot it
Encase it in tree sap until it turns into amber.
Encase that in a maxwell fluid.
Encase that in plastic blister packaging

Posting this in /an/, but I'm not getting much help... I'm looking for a GUARD dog, one that can defend my home, and one that will act as a companion to my current dog.
I have an amazing golden retriever that I absolutely love, but he's no guard dog. I was thinking of picking him up a buddy but have been having trouble deciding on a breed, I'm pretty indecisive when it comes to big decisions like this. Just wanted some outside opinions.
My preferences:
Sociable to some extent. It will be raised with the most loving dog breed of all time, so I shouldn't have to worry to much about them arguing anyway. I still want a dog I can socialize, however.
Larger the better, something over the 10lb range. My Golden is about 85lbs at 2 years old. Want something bigger than him.
Low/medium energy. I don't want a Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd, or similar breed since it has so much energy to burn on a daily basis. I have nearly a half acre yard for them to run about in, plus I take my golden to the dog park every morning before work, so playing around at the park with other dogs, the golden at home, and some light fetch outside should be enough for it. Another way to put it is that it should have similar energy levels to what a golden retriever might need, not TOO much more. Training isn't an issue, however.
Preferably no exotic, hard to come by breeds. I feel like highly exotic or low volume breeds with very few breeders in the US will lead to inbreeding, and that's out of the question.

Preferably no show breeds, it should be a working or field breed that isn't genetically fucked up for the sole purpose of being a show dog.
Most importantly, is fine living in a hot climate (southern Nevada) regardless of being an indoor dog. I don't want the dog to needlessly suffer not being in a super cold climate if that's what it was bred for.
Would likely be Schutzhund trained or trained similarly like my old shepherd was. Training isn't a major issue, I never had a problem making time.
I know I sound picky, but it's for good reason. This is a companion to me and my dog (puppy pic above) and a battle buddy for when we go hiking/home defense
I was looking at getting a Rottweiler puppy, since it meets most of these standards, but was sort of wanting something a little larger.
With whatever breed you suggest, if you have a recommended breeder for me to look into as well, feel free to mention them. Thanks in advanced!
>>34648816
over 100lb range*
>>34648816
Posted in other thread, should get a husky, they're great dogs if you can deal with the fur, your retriever would love them too.
I just upgraded from a highly rated amazon $40 scope to this. My first words looking through it were holy shit. The cheap scope had like a half inch spot where you could see through it. The vortex has like 2 inches of sweet spot and the picture somehow fills up the whole glass.
Just thought I'd share.
Da, is good scope comrade.

>>34648694
you'll never buy a shit tier scope again.
Just got a Ruger Precision Rifle.
6.5 Creedmoore
24 inch barrel.
Commiefornia, so I gotta wait for the cool off period (do other states do that too?)
How'd I do /k/, it's my first jump up into long range shooting. I already mastered my .22 bolt action and have a pretty good understanding on windage and elevation.
>>34648577
Better options out there. You could still take it back and get that sweet, sweet Finn action.
RPR is fine. Tikka is nice but RPR has amazing barrels that you can throw on yourself (with a go-gauge) for dirt cheap.
Check your handguard and barrel if they're cock eyed (a few QC issues on some of them) but they're great rifles. When they started they were amazingly priced and no real competition but there's other good options as well. Get some decent glass, shoot it, develop a load for it, and enjoy the snot out of it!
>>34648577
Florida has a cool off period of a few days if you purchase from a gun store or ffl and our laws are pretty lax.
