Let's talk military airships, /k/.

We know now that the height climbers were a technological and tactical dead end, did they actually kill the prospects of military rigid LTA aviation forever?

Imagine a world where the R38 and the Shenandoah weren't structurally deficient from their height climber lightened structures and went on to similarly successful careers with the USN as the Los Angeles had.

Would the USN have then been more willing to move on past the loss of the Akron and spend the money to fix the structural flaws in the Macon as well?

Imagine a world where the USN pursued a large-scale rollout of Akron-class successors as a long-endurance naval reconnaissance/ASW/ sea surface tracking fleet, like the K-ships but with legs like a surface vessel. What, if any, effect might that have had on naval operations going into and during WWII?

C'mon, /k/, this should be right up your alley. You don't belong here if the idea of the Bismarck being spotted off of Iceland by one of the Macon's successors and her P-40's doesn't get your dick hard more or less instantly.

feels bad, man.

better yet, imagine the sort of range that a CHAIN HOME-style system carried aloft on an Akron-sized ship could have had. It would have been an AWACS for the dieselpunk era.

Give thanks to Polybius and Archivefag for keeping /wfg/ afloat.

It's been unscientifically proven that a lack of (you)s for writers can lead depression, alcoholism, story abandonment, and an hero.

But it's so easy to make a difference in a writer's life. Just one (you) a day can make the difference between a happy writer and a writer on permanent hiatus.

Please, post now. Help make a writer's day.

how about this: post something you wrote and re-wrote a few times & are still insecure about, get two neutral replies that for all you know are from the same anon & one negative reply complaining about shit that wasn't even in the story, AND of course this one negative reply gets more attention than the story you wrote...

So I don't know a lot about guns, I'll just put that out there. Got an ex-marine friend who has 25+ firearms. Anyway I said I'll buy one, but there is only one he would sell, this Tec-9. It's been sitting in his safe for over 10 years he says, never used it much or in 10 years since he got it.

From what I gather, they are "decent" guns as long as you use factory mags, 115 grain, no hollows. So we take it for a test drive, I put 150 through it with no jams.

The question I want to ask, is how much would you say it's worth? Looking online, I see prices from 300 to like 1000, and I can't figure out why some cost so much more.

It's 1940 and for some magic reason, all of Japanese forces are automatically upgraded into late 1950s tech, including their knowledge and factories. Japan cannot share this technology with other nations. Can win their War? How would things have turned out?

So /k/, i've watched some brent0331 camo videos and...

Spotting him with camos wasn't so difficult, he was clear as daylight (literally)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw1RYl56JlA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckLNN_3eOBY
However, i got absolutely BTFO by a fucking OD single color uniform, couldn't spot the guy, not even once
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Prgqa463IwI

So question is, how do OD/khakis hold against camouflage in terms of concealment performance? especially the newest memes like multicam, ATACS, etc.

>>
>he didn't respect the power of the OD

Green is always a good choice if you're not sure about your specific needs. Shadows in daylight do the work for you.
>>
multicam is very desaturated. It's inferior for bright foliage. It works a lot better in his fall video.

Really if you want my honest opinion, I'm not entirely sold on modern camouflage, I can see the application of camo over-uniforms and shelter halves but I think generally a solid color main uniform works a lot better.

Recent Acquisitions // Pawn Shop Finds

I just picked up this Ithica 37 Featherlight in 2+3/4 from my pawn shop for $400. It was marked $550 on the sticker but I knew it had been sitting there a while so I offered $400 and showed him a gunbroker listing where there was a starting bid of $400. He wasn't entirely happy about it but he let me walk with it for $400+tax and I got a sweet skeet/bird/squirrel gun.

What have you guys picked up recently?

Inadequate aluminum welding technology at the time, today a lot of them (most?) are welded

Welds are too heavy, they are glued now that carbon fiber has become more prominent

Aluminium alloys are tricky to weld correctly.

>>
Now that even chinese type 56's are hitting $400, unless you really want one, save another couple hundred and get a WASR AK.
Or look around for cheaper used. It's following mosin nagant trend where demand is driving the price up, and the demand was from low price in the first place.
>>
Not anymore. You can "build" and AR that is of better quality and brand new for what a good SKS costs probably less.
>>
You're probably better off with an AR.
