Is it more risky to own a knife?
>can't be used for anything other than it's purpose
>only usage in cqc means higher risk it will be used against you
>have no propensity to hurt others or get into a fight anyway
Knives are cool and all, yet I am contemplating if I should even have one, let alone carry one and risk being taken into custody due to a confused police noob (I've had to point out the law to eager police cucks plenty of times before) and other messy situations if my regular response is to cop out anyway.
Even if some have a tool such as a window smasher I don't know if I would feel comfortable carrying a weapon just because of some function that you can just as well have as a non lethal designated tool.
It seems there's a risk of regret buying these even if it's a quality product especially if you have no training in handling this weapon. Which I don't. So, tell me, should I get a nifty pocket knife and have it collect dust or feel edgy having it in my pocket?
>inb4 just go with a dragon dildo
Jesus Christ I haven't seen anyone over think something so hard in a while and I'm kinda wondering how much of a mess you are in general.
It's a knife. Do you need a knife for doing the things knives are useful for? If yes buy a knife, if not then don't buy a knife ffs. Buy a leatherman or swiss army knife if you're so timid that you have to remind yourself it's a tool and not something that'll crawl out of your pocket and rob a bank.
And wtf is with people always saying this more likely to be used against you shit all the time. If a bad guy can take your knife, he can take your gun. And if it were that easy, you could just take it back in an everlasting Benny hill showdown. Luckily Jason Bourne isn't real and he isn't a mugger either
>>34682781
>Do you need a knife for doing the things knives are useful for?
Cutting? Yes. But I already have knifes in my home for kitchen purposed which is the only time I ever want to use a knife.
Just in case? I can't predict whether I would need a (combat) knife "just in case". Is that enough of a reason to buy this weapon though?
>If a bad guy can take your knife, he can take your gun.
Bull shit. You'd be dead before coming close to me if I had a gun. To use a knife you MUST be close therefor it IS likely at all that you will be overpowered.
If anyone used your reasoning to buy knifes a lot more people would have been dead. Do you know how many people own katana's and bowie knifes just to have them collect dust? That's not what their purpose is, and I don't intend on attacking anyone with a knife unprovoked. I usually get out of the way of a fight and a knife won't change that. That doesn't stop the majority of people mindlessly buying knifes because they're like toys to them just because it's fun to own. This is why I'm hesitant especially because it's a weapon that I'm not trained to use let alone be successful in a situation that leaves me no choice but to use it.
So you would actually suggest I buy a fedora and a dragon dildo. Thanks anon.
>>34682848
The only way you're knife gets used against you I'd if you're holding it out in front of you like a retard trying to threaten someone. If you come in stabbing fast and hard the other guy really would have to be Jason fucking Bourne to stop you. Remember that when it's time for a weapon, don't show and tell, skip right to the nitty gritty.

C96 Mauser is the most aesthetically pleasing handgun imo.. Let me know your favorites

I really like the looks of older revolvers.
Mine has to be the Mauser Kar98k. I've been getting into re-enacting almost purely as an excuse to own one.

I've been thinking about getting a navy colt for a while now.. They're actually pretty inexpensive and they look real nice

Can we have a gun belt/CCW belt thread? Finally gonna get a CHL here in Oregon, gonna be carrying a Glock 19 in an IWB kydex holster (no appendix carry faggotry, too chubby). There doesn't seem to be a clear go-to leather gun belt on the market, and it looks like there's quite a lot of variation in quality and price.
Alien Gear drew my eyes with their spring steel cored belts, but Hank's kydex-reinforced belts look good too; some redditfag mentioned the belt's kydex layer didn't extend to the holes, so that part of the belt is flimsy compared to the rest of it. I am okay spending money on a decent belt; I'm a big guy and need a belt that can keep its shit together. Anyone got a gud belt they're using to carry?
Anything with a double layer of leather and some kind of hard insert will do. I've been using the Aker Gun Belt since 2011 and it's held up fine through EDC and weekly training. You don't have to spend a whole bunch on a functional belt, though I recommend getting something in brown so you can wear it with a wider array of pants and shoes.
>>34682536
You may or may not want to check out SOE Belts. Though definitely youtube about them to know what you're ordering because if you fuck up they'll probably make a video about what a dumbass you are...fair warning.
Each of their belts are purpose built so make sure it's built for whatever the fuck you're into.
Just an option...you asked so I thought I'd just put it out there.

>>34682570
Thanks for another possible product to choose from, anon. I'll check those out too. The plan is to get a brown belt; I really don't have a need for a black one, though in the future I may get one just so I have the option for more formal dress. Never know when a funeral might get lively enough that you need a gat. All my regular shoes are brown so brown belt and watch strap are all I've ever got on me.
>>34682609
I know about SOE, though it looks like they don't do any leather stuff; it's all the super rigid nylon duty belt stuff.
Most of /k/indergarten throw shit at the T-50 for "lol RIVETS"! However, you can clearly see fucking steel (you can see the rust, alluminium or titanium don`t rust) elements, both horisontal and perpendicular to the centerline of the plane. And that is the fucking F-35 which is "oh so stealthy".
>>34682110
cont.
That was after the engine fire you fucking retard
>>34682110
The T-50 is not even pre-production, the nearest to serial production is T-50-10. We only have T-50-8 as of now. The rivets aren't that much of a concern since the test plane is literally equivalent to X-35.
Also that pic might be some test bed.

Every day to work he carried a case, inside was a loaded Browning BAR in 300 win mag. If shit went down he'd just take it out and start blasting wetback

Apparently in the 80s and 90s California was better than most states with regard to concealed carry. His edc was an interarms PPK/S in a rough out horsehide Clip Holster with another back up mag.
For deep concealment/ when he jogged he carried a beretta minx in 22 short.
He actually had to draw that once when some fine colored gentleman wished to reappropriate his wallet.

Unfortunately when I was born in 94 he sold all of them because of my paranoid mom.
He had lost interest in gun until I started picking up the obsession. For his birthday last year I picked him up a mint 4 inch Model 19-3. We shoot every month now and it's a great experience every time.
Unfortunately I don't have any of the pics of the Model 19 or him and his BAR. I'll try to dig them up later

Is there any money getting into gunshmithing?
>>34678749
Any pipe welder that can do a flat open root or a butt weld could have that working in no time. In terms of gaps, If you can step across it you can weld across it.
>>34678762
truthfully?
There's a reason it's filled with mostly old retired guys.
There is money, but you have the same chance of making good money in gunsmithing as you do becoming an AAA game programmer after graduating college with your CS degree.
more likely than not you'll sit in the back of a shop doing oddball jobs for fudds.

I do winter biathalon, fancy gear is like anything else. Decent gear is a huge improvement over crappy/no gear and REALLY NICE gear is ten to a hundred times as expensive as Decent gear for mostly marginal improvement. Like anything else.
But don't skimp on your barrel.
