Non American resident.Not atf bait.
Given that the average american urban home is built on -rather- light materials, are you concerned about overpenetration and collateral damage in self defense scenarios? Especially rifle rounds must slice through rooms with ease...
Just wondering.
>>34695193
No, because here in real America we don't build things close enough together that it matters.

I reported you to ICE Paco.

What about the suburbs?
Hi /k/. Let's talk about personal armor.
Advantages/Disadvantages? Types of body armor through history and their effectiveness (everything from leather to IV plates)? Armor you wear for an EDC if you live in a shitty area? Everything.
To kick it off, this modern armor looks great for the average Joe still living in the hood. It protects up to 9mm and .357 which is what you'll face on the street, is lightweight and able to be worn under clothing to not attract attention, and is also stab-proofed in case your corner meth head's shiv hand gets twitchier than usual.

What do people thing about Cold War era flak jackets? As a poorfag they are the most in my price range and you can get unissued US and German stuff for cheap. Shrapnel is the biggest killer on a modern battlefield is it not?

Wrong hazard pictogram. It should be GHS08.
I hate the finger grooves on my gen 3, and there's someone offering a stipple job like pic related for $75. What is /k/'s opinion on stippling your Glock?
The guy probably also has a Tapco'd SKS he'll sell you for $800 if you ask nicely.
>>34694778
If you wanna, do it. Just don't expect anyone to buy it from you. Or at least, not at stock-condition value.
>>34694778
Make up your own mind. You have 3 options: do it, dont do it, do it yourself.
This board is a joke. It is full of argumentative and judgemental faggots that think they know everything. Asking a question here, especially like this question, is going to get you fucking nowhere.
But here is my opinion anyway. I would be suspect of anyone offering a stippling job for $75. The job usually costs 2x that. But if you think you trust them, then whatever. You will lose some resell value doing it, even with the best job. Also the lava rock pattern is the easiest for a first time DIYer. But the lava rock pattern takes the longest too.
Im thinking of starting to collect Martini Henrys and military rifles between 1850 and 1915. What have you guys got in you personal collections fitting this category?
My 1895 production M92 Berthier.
i've got a couple francotte martinis from the nepal cache and a bunch of various guns in that age range. i like that blackpowder transition/colonial period.
Got a M1868 Remington Rolling block a Krag M1896 and a M96 Mauser in the rifle dept
ITT newfags try to talk me out of buying a Sub2k.
PROTIP....YOU CAN'T.
>>34694731
What caliber and what magazine
ITT Poorfag tries like they can but pistol caliber carbine. Just buy a hi-point an go getting blasting with Tyrone

Buy*
/k/, what are some aesthetic or otherwise neat .22s that can be gotten for under $400? I'm in the market for a .22 rifle, and unfortunately most of the stuff on the market is purely utilitarian. Right now I'm considering the Marlin Model 60, the Henry AR7, or a Henry levergat. I don't have any specific needs for reliability or "combat readiness", I just need a plinker that is cool or looks nice.
>>34694620
Don't buy the Ar7
Get the Henry Golden Boy, it's legitimately one of the most accurate guns I own and I got it for ~$300 because the barrel was dirty, but it cleaned up in less than an hour to a mirror shine
>>34694620
All other sub $400 22LR rifles < CZ-452 Ultra Lux
One on the left has been in my EDC for a little under a month, which I leave on my nightstand while I sleep.
Is this safe to shoot?
No it's completely rusted.
>>34694484
Perfectly fine, just a bit tarnished.
Yes. Just don't count your life on it for self defense.
So I got to fiddle with a mini 14, I like it considering it's a nice alternative to the ar15.
Problem is I fucking hate the rear sight on it. The peep hole is small. Normally, I could just add a scope or red dot to fix the problem of not using the sights, but I just want iron sights on a mini 14. Is there a way to make the peep hole bigger on the rear sight? If there is, I might buy one.
>>34694400
They need to make it bigger and more in appearance to that of the m1 garand and m-14. I'm sure it'd be more expensive, but anything for the A E S T H E T I C.
>>34694400
Drill it out
Buy a new rear sight...
Love the mini btw. It is worse than an AR in pretty much ever way, but its still a great rifle. Points so well.
Any reccomendations for a cheap mount that works well but doesn't involeve drilling and tapping? If I get a rear sight mount what would be a good budget optic that has long eye relief?
inb4
>get a finnish mosin
>>34694093
Don't be a bubba. Do it the way it's supposed to be done or buy a different rifle.
>>34694105
drill and tap you mean?
ATI good enough?
also what optic with the ati?
>>34694123
The right way is to not do it at all, you bubba fuck
Would it have been effective if it entered production in mid/late 43?
>>34694081
If by "effective" you mean "capable of changing WW2 in any significant way" then the answer is no. By '44 America has B-29s and by '45 atomic weapons. Even if Hitler had a plane that could bomb DC itself (with the pilots picked up by a uboat, as Germany studied), all it would have done is piss us off more and render Germany a higher priority against Japan. Which isn't a small thing, because if Germany isn't dead by summer '45 then Berlin and Frankfurt are eliminated. Even if they still somehow held on, by '46 we have the B-36 and by '47 jet fighters.
However, it would have greatly changed the dynamics of the Cold War. Had Japan not surrendered (or had surrendered then was invaded by the Soviets) this greatly changes how America responds to Red China in the 50s and would have likely prevented the detente Nixon brokered in the 60s. Which would have made WW3 a much likelier possibility in the 80s and 90s, as China wouldn't have opened up meaning they would have allied with the USSR politburo if they had a civil war (say, due to an extended economic downturn).
>>34694081
>>34694159
Additionally, the war itself (for Germany) was largely decided in winter '42 when German troops froze to death outside of Stalingrad. The only way Germany could survive WW2 is if they have the he277 in service by summer 1942, and they use it to airdrop supplies onto German troops outside of Stalingrad while bombers annihilate the city from the air. In which case, Hitler would have moved onto Moscow itself while building a both a 4,000 mile pipeline between Baku and Dresden and 100,000 me262s before '45 and hoping America doesn't just build a better missile to deliver their atomic bombs.
In other words, many more components are needed much more quickly for Germany not to get slaughtered. But even then it's debatable as Germany would still not have atomic bombs. The same would have applied to Stalin if it wasn't for the Rosenbergs selling nuke plans to them.
Is he /k/ approved?
Any thoughts on this guys knowledge?

as you know, shooting spots around the salt lake keep getting shut down due to litter. many of the areas I shoot at are getting pretty bad. even though I always leave the place better than I found it, I can't do enough on my own. I figure a few men with trash bags and a pickup truck could make a big difference. I'd like to schedule a /k/ meet up and end it by cleaning up a few areas around skull valley road, near Tooele. If you are in the area and would like to contribute, send an email -

I was thinking in a week or two or maybe in the fall when it cools down. thoughts?
>>34693904
murrican state borders are the most disgusting.
you need a thousand years of war to form proper borders.
>>34693915
You know state borders are mostly just administrative, right? We can cross from one side of the continent to another without a passport. All that changes is who the local public infrastructure gets their taxes from.
>>34693904
OP, you know that shooting area closures aren't really about litter, right? It's about money. The state can make more money if the area west of Utah Lake gets developed by high end housing developments than if it's just left undeveloped because rich boomers buying McMansions have dumb wives who don't like hearing gunfire in the distance. I doubt you have anything to worry about west of Tooele.

Anyone have a ruger SR9E? Or just SR9? How is it?
I have an SR22
>>34693717
I have an SR9.
It's okay, the sights are plastic and got damaged during use, I've had occasional reliability issues with some ammo through it.
I'd just get a Glock
is KAC overpriced meme shit?
Basically yes. Thats not to say its not good, but it costs far more than similar products for no clear reason other than the rollmarks.
Overpriced? Yeah.
Shit? No.
That is my initial reaction, but it does seem as though you are getting some quality parts for the money (gas system, E3 bolt, trigger that performs similar to Giessele SSE, etc.)
Any opinions on KAC versus DD, LaRue, and some of the other big boutique AR makers?
