irons are gay, and you're only putting yourself at a disadvantage by using them in the age of modern optics.

Rabbits are small game. So I'd say any would do.

Assuming you don't mean a BB gun, that'd just wound it. A pellet gun might do if you're a good shot.

I have a small bottle of Rem Oil and a small bottle of Hoppe's no.9. Which one would be more useful when coupled with a bore snake as an emergency cleaning kit?

Also, firearms maintenance thread.
32 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
I should mention the kit is for an AR-15.
>>
>>35125962
I dont understand, they are two completely different things.

Anyways....here is my carry cleaning kit
>otis wire
Because it has the most robust attachments compared to knock off brands
>small eye dropper size clp tube
They are really small, and clp is the only decent combo cleaner that comes in that size
>nylon tooth brush
Fastest way to brush off crud and mud
>small tube of hoppes grease
If i plan to be out for a while

I can literally fit all of this in my buttstock. But since A2 stocks are rare for people to use, you can fit this inside your handguard
>>
>>35126429
What I meant was that, if you could take one or the other which would be more useful. The kit isn't my normal cleaning kit, but an emergency one kept on my person.

Ah the 1911, the gun that comes in 15+ calibers. This type of statement never comes up when people being up the SAA
>>
>>35125890
1911 is... a weird gun.
If you buy anything but a .45 ACP single stack then people will crucify you (I don't even need to get into manufacturers).
Also apparently it's a gun which operates the absolute best with .45 ACP.
If you're looking for a carry gun, also stay away from the 1911. Every carry sized 1911 has been known to have pretty bad shit happen to it (fuddy-fahv Ayy-Cee-Pee or not)
>>
>>35126861
1911's have 5" barrels. They only come in one size.

Specifically Stalingrad, wasn't it the fact that the Soviets would try and get up close and personal in the rubble one of the factors that negated advantages like artillery, armor, etc?

Hey /k/, I'm looking for a recommendation. I'd really like to play a game not unlike Wargame: Red Dragon, but with turn based combat. Does such a game exist? I tried asking /v/, but got no valid responses.
Thanks!

I've been trying to play RTS games for 15 years. I haven't 'gotten good' yet, so I'd really prefer a turn based system. If its been done for small scale combat like XCom, I figured it might be available for Modern combat.

Why don't you do something useful like become a plumber or engineer? Society needs more of those, society doesn't need more welfare crybabbies who claim 80% disability because they have 1 too many blow jobs in the supply depot.

Learn a skill, every state needs plumbers and electricians and you can make close 100k a year after a couple years of doing it.

glock gen 5 vs M&P 2.0.jpg
96KB, 1274x547px
Please bear with me for the blogpost. I'd imagine a few other people might be in the same situation here.

I currently carry a gen 4 G19 and I'm thinking about replacing it. I've never gotten very good with it, and the trigger hasn't smoothed out at all over the few thousand rounds I've put through it.

Now, I went to a glock day event at my local range the other day and got to shoot some of the new Gen 5's and, at least for me, there is a night and day difference between gen 4 and gen 5 triggers. There is much more of a rolling takeup instead of a wall, and the break seemed much smoother. With my gen 4, the staging is much more pronounced, and no matter how much I practice and dry fire the gun, it always "shakes" when the break happens. The gen 5 felt like my S&W SD9 VE's trigger, but better and much lighter. For whatever reason I shoot SD9 VE's very well despite the heavy trigger, compared to gen 4 and earlier glocks.

With my first five shots out of the gen 5 I fired a better group than I do on average with my gen 4, and it only improved from there.

I also have a gen 1 M&P9 fullsize, and I like it a lot. I think it has better ergonomics than my glock, and I don't mind the hinged trigger like so many people seem to. I'd carry it if it wasn't too big for me to conceal. Now S&W has answered my prayers and made the M&P9c glock 19 sized instead of that weird inbetween size their previous compact was, and I'm very tempted to pick one up. It's preorder pricing is lower than glock's too.

My hangup here is that over the next few years I'd like to buy a few pistols, including my first gun in fuddyfive, but due to my severe autism I want them to all be the same line of pistols. I have 30 days to order a glock from the store that ran the glock day at a "special price" (what that is exactly, idk), and I'm not sure if I'll be able to test fire an M&P 2.0 before then.

Which brand should I go with?

tl;dr- Do I buy Glock gen 5s or S&W M&P 2.0's?

Was Iraq or Afghanistan considered a worse deployment?

I wasn't there for the early invasions. But Iraq gave up long before Afghans did. My 09 deployment in Iraq I call my do nothing deployment. Didn't even get a CAR.

My 2010/2011 was way more intense. Those fuckers in Helmand like to fight.
>>
First parts of Iraq were exciting as fuck.

The policing part was the part that sucked. Policing sucks.
>>
>>35125299
Just depends on when you were there and what part of the AO you were operating in. My first tour in 2007 was 15 months long in Baghdad and it fucking sucked, big time. Brigade lost alot of people. My second tour in 09-10 things were alot more calm, but were quickly heating up in Astan. I was never in these larger scale attacks that happened in Astan from 1k+ away, but rather smaller more precise street level engagements, constantly trying to watch every person near your unit can play hell mentally as well

I'm looking to purchase a gun safe. I don't have any kids so it's not for safety, but want something that'd be very difficult to open and extremely tough to remove from my apartment.

Any suggestions /k/?

at minimum american security
for actual cutting/prying protection you'll have to spend the money on a fort knox, graffunder, or liberity
look at the actual steel content, avoid anything that says "composite door/construction"
when securing it make sure the surface is concrete.
>>
not a shill or anything but this guy gives some good info about the big brands https://youtu.be/GHAyRO566sU

if you don't want to fuck around and want an actual safe get a vault pro or a graffunder, but expect to pay over 4k all the way up to 10k for the best ones
