Alright /k, I have a couple questions here.
About a year ago, I bought an AR15, but now im seriously beginning to question If I should have gone with an AK platform. It feels to me like a 7.62 round would be more likely to kill, or wound more seriously with one shot, while the 556 would only wond them.
So heres my question -
Should I have gone with an ak platform
And
My rifle is a 16" barrel with a carbine length gas system and A 1 in 9 barrel twist.
I want to make some sort of upgrage to greatly encourage tumbling or "exploding" projectiles.
Can/ should I upgrade to a 20" barrel for better fragmentarion and general ballistic wackyness?
Or should I just stick to soft points in a 16 inch

I'm writing a story /k/, and I figured this would be a good place to ask.
People often say firearm and ammunition design has basically peaked.
What I'm wondering is, considering current trends, do you think firearms and ammunition are likely to change drastically over the next two to three centuries?
Is it likely, say, 9mm and 5.56 will continue to be standard even in the 23rd Century?

Sup, /k/, /tg/ here. Gotta question for yas.
I'm adapting Anno Dracula to WW1 for a tabletop game. tl;dr - Dracula's serving Kaiser Wilhelm, vampires are out of the casket, and the "new born" are uncommon but tolerated. Both sides have them, both sides use silver on the battlefield to kill them.
Which is where the question comes in. If WW1-era forces regularly needed silver bullets, how would they field them? Would they be (relatively) inexpensive enough to use in MG emplacements? Would you pick an infantryman or two per squad to carry a magazine of silver rounds?
I can just make some shit up, but I figured it might as well get some grounding in reality.

Sniper rifle with build in silencer.
But since supersonic bullets render silencers useless, then they had to use subsonic bullets.
But subsonics bullets have a higher bullet drop.
And bullet drop is no good for sniper rifles.

Bought my first handgun today. M&P shield 9mm with thumb safety.
I was in muhreens and I'm used to safeties. I can always leave it off, didn't seem like a bad idea to have options.
It was on sale for $350, got a free mag and $75 dollar rebate. The store had another sale for an extra $100 where I got 200 rounds, an extra mag, a box of defense ammo, and a shitty holster.
So for a little under $500 I got a new shield, two extra magazines (total of 4), 200 rounds FMJ and some hollow point.
How'd I do, guys?

Here is my AK-47, which I purchased near the time when CoD MW2 was out. I liked the look of the gun in that game, and decided to model mine after it. Tell me what you think. It handles well, shoots well (its an AK) I like the look and feel of it, and my groups are good. If any anons are interested, its just your basic cheap TAPCO furniture plus a rail I got from midwayUSA and an AK-74 style recoil compensator in 30 cal.

Well, /k/, I actually had to use a knife to defend myself the other day. Will give details if anyone is interested.
The reason I'm making this thread though is for people to post tips and techniques for defensive knife fighting. I was successful in defeating my attacker, but he didn't die, and I also got disarmed at the end. I want to do better if it ever comes to this again.
