Is HK reliabilty and quality a meme or are they really as though as they claim? What's your experience with them? Am I just better off buying a P30 or is the USP9 thougher/better?

I currently use one for EDC. I've shot over 1200rnds through it without cleaning it. Runs flawlessly. Factory mags work great. Dead nuts accurate.

Only complaints: the stipuling really digs into your hand after 200+ rounds in one sitting, doesn't like low powered ammo(don't use the cheapo aluminum cased federal ammo from wally's. It'll jam. It's under powered), and the grip is a bit wide for my small-medium hands (size 8 for gloves).

The mag release is pretty nice though.

Do me a favor and go hug your favourite gun and take a moment to appreciate actually owning it.

Imma yurorich and there are wery few countries where you can't own a gun, of course semi autos are mostly restricted but :
a cap & ball revolver might not znd is in the 300€ range
a mosin or any milsurp bolt action from WWI or WWII coste in between 350€ to 900€
a good .22lr bolt action is accessible (even if United kaliphate of Bongistan (prices starts @ 200 for a basic and '(à FOR A CZ 452)
or if anything else is illegal, a good 12ga double barrel (I don't know a single country that ban them, even Poortugal has them)

so go pass a trap/skeet/hunting or sportshooting licence and become hasgun !

There is hope

The first rule of gun safety is that all guns are loaded. Therefore, you should never dry fire a gun unless it's pointed in a safe direction. A thin sheetrock wall is not a safe direction. If you have to dry fire, get a clearing barrel or just point it at the ground.

This is going to be a more hypothetical thread, but I wish to keep it grounded in practical self defence and disaster prepping.

Suppose monsters/ strange beings/ super-villains suddenly appeared in our world and became commonplace (think NBC's 'Powerless', the Marvel TV universe, Pacific Rim, or One Punch Man's setting), regularly wreaking havoc and mayhem on civilisation. While superheroes and organisations might (emphasis on 'might') appear in response to this threat, the average citizen is by and large unprepared for this sudden, out-of-context threat in their urban environment.

Thus, what preparations would you make for an attack that may be on par with a natural disaster, with the addition of malevolent intent? What would you carry on your person to protect your life from smaller threats while not attracting undue attention from authorities/heroes? If you decide to flee, where would you go and how would you do it? Finally, would you form a group, or go it alone?

literally nothing that could possibly injure anything that size could be comfortably carried on your person on a daily basis. Unless you're 7 foot 4 and 400 pounds of muscle you're not going to comfortably carry a barret in a sling. You're better off just running past the company of tanks that will be sent in to deal with the threat.
>>
>>34743067
A satellite phone, and my bug out bag as an EDC

You still need defense against rioters and thugs, but your best bet is to gtfo whenever shit happens

Also move to the country rather than a major city, and have a remote backup home

I think that a world with that kind of environment would rapidly experience the decentralization of population centers
>>
>>34743107
That's why I specified SMALLER threats, i.e. creatures roughly the size of a bear/gorilla, or your average super-villain, or even looters taking advantage of the chaos (that last one will probably be the most common, if not the most dangerous). In any case, you just want something that can keep whatever it is at bay long enough to run for help, leaving the heroics to the heroes.

That's one of the reasons I made this thread; too many monster and superhero movies focus on the big picture, far removed from the civilians scurrying away in the background. What must they do to survive in a world that's no longer their own?

Hi /k/

I just picked up a new Ruger AR-556 yesterday and im having a bit of trouble getting the upper receiver to hinge open. You see, when I pull both takedown pins, I can get about 1/32"-1/16" of wiggle space around where the pivot pin is, but when i leave the pivot pin in place and only want to hinge open the rifle, I cannot get even a bit of movement near the rear takedown pin.
Bolt is closed and gun is cocked. Safety is on. I have not fired the gun yet.
I seem to be having the same issue as this guy but this thread never lead anywhere. Same gun too.

http://www.xdtalk.com/threads/cant-separate-my-upper-from-my-lower.361009/

Any help would be appreciated.

You can't separate them at all or you just can't hinge?
