To be honest I would love to have an effective air rifle that performs similarly to a firearm.

A lot of shooting competitions use only air rifles. You can shoot them in your backyard and usually nobody cares. I mean what good is owning a 1000+$ firearm when you can't even shoot it but 3 - 4 times a year because the closest range is an hour away, whereas with an air rifle you could shoot it year round all day long. Granted I don't think I'd spend more than 400 on an air rifle, but if you're using it for hunting you might want one like in the OP.

Though technically it's still illegal to shoot an air rifle in your backyard, nobody cares.

Learn to fucking shoot. The 'power' of the 10mm is exaggerated by neckbeards who can't actually be bothered to train. If you're lifting weights to be better with 10mm, then you're better with 9mm, too.

Start practicing how to actually hit things. A hit with a 9mm is better than a miss from a 10mm. Learning shot placement means caliber is irrelevant.

Why would you want one? The chief reason why people buy 9mm guns is for capacity. If you get one that's single stack, you're defeating the very purpose of 9mm. If you want a 1911, just get one in the cartridge that it was designed for: 45 ACP.

For example, 99% of hunters will NEVER need the increased range and power of a magnum rifle cartridge, yet 300 Win mag is on the shelves of every gun store in America. The AR is a decent rifle, but it's not different enough from other 223s to fully explain the zeal of AR consumers. The model 29 was never a really good handgun--it simply had too much recoil to be useful to anybody but a bear hunter--but they flew off the shelves after Dirty Harry came out.
