What if I told you that 99% of knife breakages could be avoided by not batoning. Just use a damn wedge. If you don't have one, make one out of a block of wood.
Bushcraft knives should be made for batoning, if they can't take a bit of batoning they weren't meant to work on wood in the first place and shouldn't be used.

Sure, and 100% of knife breakages could be avoided by keeping them in a drawer at home and never taking them outside. But knives are meant to be used, and should stand up to the tasks people will actually use them for.

I don't even hunt and this smug bastard's asking me to shoot him. Low effort.
How viable, really, is living in a /k/ompound or some such thing? The idea of having a barbed wire fence, underground structure, store of supplies, armory, etc, basically my own little FOB, is extremely attractive. Setting up one in a decommissioned communications bunker or Atlas E site seems like it'd be possible. I remember there was a real /k/ /k/ompound being talked about nearly daily for a long time. Did that ever get off the ground?
It is viable, so long as you have money.
>>34790168
pointless when you cant be self sufficient, so you're just hardcore extreme larping.

But I'm in America...
You can shorten it a little, but the overall length must remain at least 26 inches, and the barrel length at least 16 inches, as per the US National Firearms Act of 1934.
As long as you don't go below those limits, it's a legal firearm.
If you go below it, you'll need a tax-paid registration from the BATFE, which will run you about $200 and require a background check.
Happy shooting.
How do you feel about wood furniture on modern weapons?
Cringey on AR's. Nice on AK's, FAL's, and G3's.

OP, you have earned your added title of faggot. There is a thread on this exact same subject, that has been on page one since before your op.
Any of you lads wanna hop in a squad in some Verdun or something? We could get a discord going if there is enough interest.

How does Chinese bullet of 5.8x42mm compare to Western bullet of 5.56x45mm? It is better, yes?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5.8%C3%9742mm
Better at what, exactly? They both fill the same role, poking small holes in things at high velocity.
>>34789471
You tell me china man, we don't have any 5.8 here
I'd bet the QC is shit. Chinese are infamous for cutting corners the moment the customer isn't looking.
Did the US decide which battle rifle theyll use yet to replace the M4?
This will take months
Its not replacing the M4
It will probably be abandoned before the end of the year once enough taxdollars have been drained
alright /k/, let's play myth busters for a second
>when a subsonic round is fired from a wet suppressor it makes less noise than the gun's action
>one shot to the brain/forehead, no matter what calibre, will kill someone instantly
>you can train your reaction speed until it reaches 100ms
truth or myth?
>when a subsonic round is fired from a wet suppressor it makes less noise than the gun's action
Definitely loath this meme.
>one shot to the brain/forehead, no matter what caliber, will kill someone instantly
Fair. Once heard about a guy who attempted suicide through the roof of the mouth, fucked it up and lived long enough for his family to find him and EMTs to arrive. Just had to sit around and watch him die, whole top of his head was a mess so there wasn't much they could do for him.
>you can train your reaction speed until it reaches 100ms
But you can, nerd. Its like catching a fastball, all practice.
>>34789555
>Definitely loath this meme.
It is half true
a .45ACP round getting shot through a wet decent suppressor makes less noise than the bullet hitting a steel target
>>34789296
>Depends upon the type of action. a suppressed single shot or bolt action will be probably be louder than the action.
>False. Plenty of people get shot in the head and live.
>Depends upon stimulus and what reaction you're looking for. Reaction speed is limited by the time it takes for the command to travel along the nerves. A visual stimulus and a desired response of clicking a button would require a genetic predisposition. However, most peoples blink reflex is already around 100ms.
Recently purchased an SLR-107R. Absolutely love the rifle. No malfunctions so far, accurate, very fun to shoot.
BUT
As a left-handed shooter, there is one thing that's really bothering me, and that's getting slapped in the face by a pressure wave every time the rifle cycles. I haven't been hit by any brass or anything, but the gas system just feels... overpressured? I'm not sure. This is my first AK-style rifle, so I don't know if this is common/normal, but does anyone have any suggestions? Is there any tweaking I can do to not get hit with this pressure wave and catch a mouthful of spent powder with each shot?
Very very normal as a left hand shooter myself I definitely feel beat up after running a brick thru my century
>>34789272
bump
>>34789272
Ak is [likely] intentionally overpressured. I feel the concussion every time someone shoots my wasr near me.
I'm after a gun for self defense.
You don't.
>>34789245
but there must be some way.
>>34789266
You don't you dumb underage.
I guess I'm just retarded. How do I put this thing on?
Never mind I got it.
People that doesn't have access to federal land, do you dislike going to a range? Do you wish that you had access to federal land or do you don't mind shooting on a range?
>>34788925
I wish I had enough private property to shoot on.
>>34789312
this
range is okay if you make it on a weekday during morning or afternoon hours. I'm generally the only one there, sometimes there's two or three others there though. It sucks to drive 30 minutes both ways but what can I do, I live in a city with a no shoot ordinance and don't know anyone with property 500ft from someone's house
