My sks stovepipes and chews on spent casings constantly.
So far the fixes im trying next range trip are:
Putting the recoil spring in the correct way(Wobbly bit towards the front,although im 90% sure ive been doing this every time correctly)
Cleaning gas ports/gas system
Using other ammo to see if its the ammo
Anything else I should try before driving out to shoot?Its all matching except the magazine,so maybe that needs adjustment but im not sure where to start on that.
Im shooting chinese corrosive,and I strip it down to parts every time I clean it to try and preserve it as long as I can.
Cleaning with nitro solvent,then oiling the fuck out of it with hoppes.
Maybe too much oil?

How many rounds can be put through a 12GA shotgun (Mossberg 500) in it's lifetime?
I just bought a used Mossberg 500 that has a production date in the early 90's. When I bought it it was extremely dirty and grimey and I don't know much about shotguns but it looks like it's had thousands if not tens of thousands of rounds put through it in it's life so far. I took it apart and cleaned it up and every thing seems sound, it's actually a great and well worn gun. Very smooth action. I even cleaned the grit from underneath the safety. Still need to clean out the mag tube, lots of grime in there still.
Now I'm curious if I can put more thousands and then maybe tens of thousands of rounds through this gun as I familiarize myself with the art of the scattergat over the next few years and then expect it to perform in an extended SHTF scenario.
The gun itself was bought in Las Vegas and was wearing an old wonky ATI top folding stock (with tape on the cheek part and it ismissing the shell holder), I wonder who's owned this gun and what it's been doing over the last couple decades and if it wore the ATI stock on it for all those rounds. I've since ordered a hogue short LOP rubber stock. Oh, the saleswoman threw in a box of Federal #4 shells from what looks like the 80's with the gun, it fit the gun well.

I was wondering: why bother with calibers higher than .22?
The .22 LR rounds are still bullets and they are deadly, cheap and go through a lot of things, including 2x4, coconut, ballistics skull, and other materials. Beginners, kids, women, and old people can comfortably shoot the low-recoil .22. So why not carry a .22?

It's been approximately 96 hours since I was given a command of the depot/TP storage facility I work at, and in that time I've already got two DUIs and a rape of a minor. It's not even the weekend yet.
It wouldn't piss me off so much if it was at least boots doing this shit, it's fucking LTs doing weird shit in elementary school parking lots with underage kids. Then I have to drive down to the principal's office like I'm their dad and go through a half hour of paperwork before I get to watch a video of a grown man (normally trusted with $$$ equipment) doing gross shit to a preteen boy which is when I'm informed he's sitting in jail so I have to drive down there and pickup the controlled documents he was supposed to not keep in his car. Oh, and I'm down a materials handler with a forklift license so I can't move anything until he posts bail.
Meanwhile, everyone else is now trading pics of what he did like it's some yugioh shit even though those images are technically cheese pizza and half of the people under my command are criminals now.
