How realistic is this?

Pretty realistic.

Unless the /v/ fags play tank sims (actual ones, not WoT) they dont stand a chance.
/thg/ is a thread for discussion about tanks and other armored fighting vehicle.
Please keep things civil and cite sources.
In 1933 France started to issue requirements for a replacement for the WWI vintage Renault FT-17. This replacement would become the Renault R35, a mix of obsolete and cutting edge. The French were aware of the shortcomings of the design but rushed the R35 into production in 1936 anyways due to the need to match German rearmament.
The tank was – in theory – well armored, three centimeters with a good slope. However the casting technology used produced poor quality armor, leaving it vulnerable to 25mm guns. Capable of 20 kph the R35 was considered mobile enough for its role as an infantry tank, in fact this is twice the maximum speed called for in the 1933 requirements. Armament consisted of a 37mm SA18 from the FT-17 and a coaxial 7.5mm machine gun. This was a rather lackluster armament.
The biggest disadvantage to the R35 was its one man turret. The commander was forced to act as commander, gunner and loader at simultaneously. This massive overloading was not helped by the poor ergonomics of tank.
In combat the R35 was decidedly mediocre, hampered by its distribution into pennypackets with the infantry and the general state of disorganization that quickly overtook the French army in the Battle of France. Despite this some R35 equipped units did see limited success, particularly against the Italians. After 1940 captured tanks used by the Germans in the Baltics saw considerable success, as the light two-man tanks were able to traverse the narrow mountain roads which defined the region the light armor was immune to the partisan’s small arms.
Tank and AFV news as per the format:
- Pakistani has entered into talks with Ukraine about a purchase of 100 Oplot tanks.
- Rumors about an Iraqi purchase of T-90 have solidified into a confirmation of a purchase of 73 T-90S/SK tanks.
- Turkey has decided to start a program for an indigenous AAV.
- Boeing and GDLS have announced a partnership to build a SHORAD vehicle based on the Stryker.
- Turkey moves forward with the Altay program, soliciting bids from three local firms for production. Value is estimated at more than $10 billion.
Would the Bv206 type design theoretically work if upscaled for a large and heavily armored tank? A joint like that allows it some rather absurd mobility:

You judge guns that you have no experince with by how well they perform in vidya. Dont even try to deny it.
>>34843379
Nah, I watch youtube videos and read forums so people can tell me my opinion on the subject matter.
>>34843379
I judge them by youtube videos. It's why I thought the FAL was inaccurate and the G36 overheated easily for a while.

I remember playing host on N64 as a kid and thinking it was the hottest shit.
Just woke up hungover like a mad cunt with a new shotgun and a mcdouble on my bed. Think I drank half a handle of shit whiskey and played Call of Chernobyl til about 7 in the morning. Society implies I should be ashamed, but feeling pretty alright all in all. How /k/ and or white trash is your day going?

Fucking awesome, mate. Keep up the good work. I've been in your position a couple times. Drank more rum than I should have and woke up on the floor with my nugget in my lap and dressed in full Swiss alpenflage gear with an M40 gas mask by my side.
>drunk /k/ is best /k/?

It's not fun. It's borderline milsim and full survival. It's a comfy game if you can get into it. But the worst thing is someone that is into it recommending it to you. Because that person is broken and seems to enjoy it. And if you go into it expecting it to be as good as that person told you, then you will have a bad time. It will run on a potato and lemon wired in series, so anything you own can run it. Nothing online it is too old. No mac compatibility that I have seen.
It's a good game if you really want to see some shit.
>sitting outside the bar area

Hey /k/, since Gander Mountain is going out of business all their shit is like 60% off, and I saw an H&K p30s for $629 (normally ~$1000 . I am really tempted to get it, but at the same time I just bought a glock 23 last month. It is my first pistol, and I like it so far, but man the p30 looks nice.
I have the money to get the p30, but I am not sure if I should. Should I just stick with my glock for now until I get good at shooting?
>>34842602
If you have the money, get it.
You will not regret the purchase.
>>34842602
I mean, if you figure out you don't like it then turn it around for $800.

So I'm visiting my dad, and he's showing me an old WW2 Japanese Rifle, that was given to him by a friend who had been in WW2. Does anyone know what it is?
Type-99 rifle.
Posting a couple more photos for reference.

My EDC pistol has a dot, a gas pedal, slide lightening cuts, a magwell flare, and I usually have an extendo.
They say carry what you shoot best and fastest and all those things matter.
Was there a period where black powder metallic cartridges used ball ammo? This is the only picture I can find of one.
Also, would a ball even benefit from rifling?
>>34842492
A ball wouldn't benefit for anything than being a ball.
>>34842492
>brass shotgun shells loaded with lead shot
>shot are circular pellets
>therefore ball
sure thing OP
By the time mettalic cartridges came around people had already realized that longer bullets with faster rifling usually flew better. There is information for "gallery loads" for some cartridges that use a ball, probably for reduced recoil. Whether these are historically accurate or not, I don't know.
Will magnetically-accelerated weaponry ever be scaled down to the small arms scale? Would it be possible for these weapons to be fully automatic, if not semi? What are the chances they would dominate the market, and make conventional firearms obsolete relics?
>>34842387
Weight, battery, ammunition, water falling from the sky...
I feel like if they could be scaled down they would become too good to be true, able to pierce through any body armor imaginable. It's hard to imagine a reason anybody would buy anything else
>>34842387
yes, yes, and low.
energy storage is a big problem, fast-acting discharge is a problem, and the rails or coils are a small problem.
You'd need a good plot device like room-temp superconductors.
