I've been really curious, on how effective 7.62x39 is, when it comes to defense/offense. I know 8M3 is pretty damn violent. Acutal pictures would be great. Thanks

Gun: P220
Movie: Heat
Refined, efficient, utterly professional but old fashioned.
Gun: HK USP 45
Movie: Collateral
Very good choice for Tom Cruise' character, Vincent.
Character is supposedly ex-US special forces. Would've probably trained with a .45 caliber 1911. USP 45 is a logical "modern upgrade" because the safety lever is in the same place. It's kind of a big ass gun to CC all night, but, an assassin, with 5 targets, some of which are heavily guarded, would need a bigger gun that's easy to shoot with better capacity. Also, the suit is tailored around a gun anyway.
I'd describe Vincent as modern, but kind of old school - he dresses modern, carries a cell and uses modern tech to track targets and get the job done. At the same time, he is very traditional; he insists Max buy flowers for his sick mother, and he loves classic Jazz music. He has grey hair and a beard, but yet he looks rather youthful.
He signs up for a job and commits. He keeps things simple, as far as gear and even the way he carries himself.
USP 45 is kind of the same way; it's a modern polymer gun, with controls similar to an old design, and shoots a caliber that (back then) is going on a century old.
Like Vincent, the USP is no frills, but refined at the same time. It doesn't quit on you either, again, just like Vincent.
I feel like Michael Mann thought a lot about what Gun Vincent should carry, and it shows; it is a ridiculously appropriate choice.
gun: smith and wesson model 36 "cheifs special"
movie: anything with a rugged old detective
old school, but reliable. Shows us that he or she is stuck in their ways, but those ways are proven and they work. They dont need a fancy new automatic to get the job done, and keep their own service revolvers for sentimental value, remembering the "good ol days". Often ribbed by younger characters for carrying something so old school, those same characters ironically often carry them as a back up gun
Mateba Autorevolver.
Movie: Blade Runner.
Looks pro, but is a fucking cyborg.
I just bought a CZ 75D PCR, but I'm having trouble with the sights. The gun constantly shoots to the left, even when I'm resting it on a bench and focusing as hard as I can.
I've never had to adjust sights before and I don't have any tools, I was just gonna take it to the gunstore I bought it from and ask if they could adjust the sights for me. They install sights for all types of guns, so I think they should be able to.
Would it be a better investment for me to just buy the tools and try to sight it in myself, or to leave it to someone who knows what they're doing?
>>34888012
you stick it in a vice get a punch and wack it with a mallet. that said the new gun should have been sighted in from the factory and come with a target showing a group. it could be sighted in perfectly but its you.
All CZ shoot left, it's a shit tier gun. I have no idea how these slav retards sight their crap in factory but they're doing it very wrong.

What can /k/ tell me about bunker busters?
I understand that they use KE to penetrate the earth before coming into contact with concrete bunkers or caves but I don't know the specifics of how these things work and how frequently they are used.
How reliable are these weapons?
How often are they used?
Any famous cases of use?
Are they still relevant today?
Thanks /k/
Something I've been wondering in case someone knowledgeable comes by.
Could bunker busting weapons be countered if the bunker had some type of reactive armor?
>>34887351
OP here, spinning yarn so take this with a grain of salt.
I understand that they penetrate the earth after gaining significant kinetic energy due to the altitude their dropped from and their weight.
I think considering the size of these bombs if you could detect it, ERA large enough would probably stop the threat by either slowing it enough to prevent penetration or causing it to detonate before it hits the ground.
Either that or a CRAM style defence could work.
>>34887389
Or just a deeper bunker.

How often will people fire off rounds while dying/right after death?
Wouldn't dying cause you to tense up and squeeze the trigger?
>>34887179
Depends where you get shot
>>34887179
I woulds say that it almost never happens. I've seen people blow their brains out, and even that kind of shock to the nervous system doesn't cause a lot of spasms. It usually results in the body doing one quick flinch, then falling over.
>>34887179
I saw a woman die once and she didn't fire off a round or anything. Granted, she didn't have a gun and I doubt anyone in that part of the hospital did either.
Shit you hate in the gun community.
Let's try to refrain from arguments, since all of these arguments have been had a million times already.
I'll start:
People who buy into this c-clamp bullshit. Maybe I'm just jealous since my left thumb is fucked up and I can't do it, but I far prefer the magwell grip personally. It just seems a bit uncomfortable to hold your arm out in an unnatural, straight position. With a magwell grip, sure, you have less recoil control, but you're shooting a .223/5.56, not a 12 gauge; recoil is manageable. With a closer-in grip style, I can manoeuvre more easily in close quarters.

Holy shit, /k/,
The royal crown in Albany has decreed that I shall be granted the privileged of owning a pistol for my personal use!
I have been thinking over what pistol I wanted to own for a long time, I was feeling good about a .357 Ruger GP100 with a 6" barrel. But I am still in debate of whether to go for the blued steel or the stainless steel?
My local gunshop has both versions and I am struggling to decide which to get.
I like blued steel because its got that classic look, especially in partnered with a wood grip
Stainless looks nice and shiny and is apparently less maintenance, but heavier?
Help me /k/ which should I go for?
>>34886431
Well hypothetically, if you ever feel like carrying it, the blued finish won't catch the eye as much
Not like anyone would brake the law here
>>34886431
Blued finishes are for old fudds, stainless is the most common revolver finish for a reason
I occasionally like a nice, blued finish.
Of which Rugers do not have. Get the stainless.

What does /k/ think of retrofitting old subs with new tech?
The Oscar 2 subs (949A) are getting modernized to carry Oniks missile instead of Granits, instead of 24 Granits, it will carry 72 Oniks missile instead. The Oniks were used as Land Attack Cruise Missiles in Syria, they are mainly used as anti ship missiles too. They are nuclear warhead capable. The cells are slanted therefore it will not use UKSK because it will be costly as shown in the Admiral Nakhimov refit. It's not as stealthy as newer subs but it's quiet enough to get into standoff range and fire and then leave. Pic related, an Oscar 2 getting modernized.
My gripes with it is that it should've carried superior YJ-18 cruise missiles. Why can't they just buy Chinese?
>>34885691
If it keep the subs in service longer, I support it.
I'm always sad when a old ship/sub gets decommissioned and scrapped.
>>34885691
The YJ-18, a superior original Chinese version of the now defunct Russian Caliber-NK missile system, can be packed by 4's. This means it could've carried 96 missiles instead with superior range and intelligence. Plus it can be launched via torpedo tubes making it 104 missiles per sub. Impressive.
