How many guns do you own? How many guns is too many guns? Have you ever purged parts of your collection because you felt like you had too many?
I talked to a guy at a gun show the other day who said he had nearly 50 guns in his collection but he hardly ever shoots and some have been safe queens for up to a decade with maybe 20-30 rounds through them since purchase.
I could never do that because I live my life by a very utility-based mentality and try to only keep around things that I need or have regular use for. For my gun collection, I try to limit myself to having a concealed carry pistol, an open carry duty pistol, close to mid range rifle/carbine, a long range marksmanship rifle and a shotgun. Sure, I have a couple extra milsurp/sentimental value guns, and there are plenty of guns that I think would be cool to have, but in the end I can't really justify owning more than 10 guns MAX. Even then I sometimes wonder if that's getting a little carried away.
Am I alone in not wanting to be a gun hoarder and instead wanting to have a smaller, more tightly tuned arsenal for practical usage?

Oddly enough my optics collection costs just as much as my gun collection... seriously +/- $100 close. That wasn't my intention, it just kinda happened like that.

Mostly because I like collecting more than shooting, the cost/hassle of driving to range or land, and because I see them as a good store of value, investment almost. I recently moved and had to purge a few long guns that were just taking up space and not really special. I've refined my tastes to be more towards handguns especially revolvers. I only buy used and have only bought 1 gun from a shop. Buy em right and they hold value well (dollar will keep losing value).

No, out of the box it's very limited in it's ability to pierce armour. You have to fire it through a gun to achieve the full effect.

Sup /k/ I was helping people research street legal armored cars for that riot.tours thing, and I fell in love with this VBL car, which has no examples of civilian ownership despite being sold to all sorts of other countries.
It's not appropriate for their project because a crowd could easily swarm and flip a VBL. It's a light fast moving armored scout car.
So I did some research on it..

Hey, /k/. A little challenge for you.
Assume you're homeless in a liberal city (no guns allowed outside) at 4 AM and sleeping on a street corner. You hear big footsteps furiously walking up to you. You open your eyes and see a 6'4" jacked meth head glaring at you and foaming at the mouth, out of his mind, on PCP (so he won't feel pain and will have super human strength). He lunges to attack you.
QUESTION: Other than a firearm, what non-electric, moderately-concealable weapon would be best to quickly kill or incapacitate him at short distance?
Keep in mind factors such as: you may not be able to hit him in a vital spot in an attack, you may miss where you're hitting and not have a chance to hit again, you may only get one or two hits in, he may get your weapon and use it on you, etc.
Hard mode: No knives unless they are 3.5" blade maximum and limited to the folding type (I don't think a knife would be best for this scenario anyway).

I have a 7mm-08 that's had iron sights for years and I really need some kind of optics for hunting season.
What's your opinion on Leupold vs Meopta? I hear that Nikon kinda sucks. I'm looking for a 4-10x or so zoom.
I really just don't want to end up with bad optics, it'll be a distraction.
