So one of my friends wants to get into guns. Great! So I pull out my old Benjamin .22 Air Rifle and 5 .22 tins and take him to the local range to let him have a few rounds with it, practice some target and plinking. Figure let him get used to something "beginner friendly."
So as hes finishing up the first tin of pellets and puts the rifle down, he remarks to me "I got a question. I heard that if you have a suicidal history, that your aren't allowed to own guns period. Is that right?" I quickly grab the pump area of the rifle and bring it towards me.
"Okay, for the safety of both you and me, we aren't doing anymore shooting till I am 100% confident that you are "okay." I don't want to dissuade you from guns, but I want to err on the side of caution."
Now i'm kinda torn. Aside from this admission, he has never ever said anything or done things that would seem amiss. He's reserved, but is more than open and outgoing.
So now i'm in a difficult quandary. Do I just write him off as someone that would take a gun and kill himself? Would me telling him "No" cause him to go apeshit? Maybe he has no suicidal tendencies and is stable enough to be in the company of a firearm. Or it takes one trigger to cause him to go off the deep end?
Any advice?
Aak him how long ago it was and why. Go from there
If he wanted to kill himself and needed access to a gun, he wouldnt have told you.

If all he wanted to do with a gun is shoot himself with it he probably wouldn't care to practice marksmanship, all he'd have to do is buy a pawn shop shotgun and a box of ammo.
If you're worried he'll own one for a while then randomly decide to kill himself with it, he could do the same with a knife, by driving off a cliff or taking a nap on some train tracks.
By all means ask if he wants to talk about it, but freaking out and taking a pellet gun out of his hands probably just made him uncomfortable and less likely to talk about it in the future. He probably went through some angsty phase as a teen and wants to know if that will keep him from being able to buy a gun. Plenty of people have had their firearms rights stripped from them over stupid shit that happened to them as kids that they no longer have to worry about.
We know it can take out old Soviet monkey model tunks, but how well does it do against modern tunks?
I mean the gun, not missiles.
>>35177312
>muh monkey models
>>35177312
Honestly, bretty good desu.
If you consider the high volume of hits and exterior spalling, I'm sure a mission kill or firepower kill is easily obtainable.

Useless
If you had to choose 3 and only 3 guns to own and carry into a catastrophic civil meltdown, what would you carry and why?
I'll post my personal picks in a minute.
Something not too noticable WHEN HIDDEN , the last thing you want to hear ( implying if you can make out anything people are saying ) is them screaming that you have a gun. So a PDW with allot of ammo
Sbr AR-15, Mac-10 with suppressor and 1911 with a light.

No guns here but realistically this would make sense:
>A reliable .223 carabine
>A 9 mm pistol
>A small .22lr rifle
All common rounds, pretty much best for self defense, hunting small and even larger animals.
Post your best alternatives to a practical, working firearm. Discuss methods of defense (both home and personal) that will hopefully (probably wont) hold up in a court of law. Sob angry, autistic tears because your shitty government thinks you shouldn't be allowed to own a .22

i hope this thread will reduce the number of "eurofag here, is x a suitable replacement for a gun?" "britbong here, what can i use as a weapon in case of the zombie apocalypse?"
>>35176480
>expecting people who are too retarded to google things to use the catalog
Is a 40 caliber glock a good handgun to start off with for someone who's never owned a gun before?
And what are the odds of getting drunk and shooting someone in the face who wronged you like the guy that sold your dad crack or the guy that molested you? (perfectly valid question)
>>35176348
As long as it's a nigger you're ok.
>>35176348
>what are the odds of getting drunk and shooting someone in the face
If that's a concern, you have no business owning a gun
>>35176377
You didn't answer the first question
so anons. out of the major defensive calibers which one do you trust the least and if you were stuck with it anyway what would you carry in it?
Least trusted:
>9mm
What I would carry
>pic related
Reason
>uses to full sized steel pistols and I like the trigger in both sa and da

Wiped down the machine to remove all that powder, took off the shellplate, wiped that area down, then vacuumed the bench and workspace.
Then proceeded to make another mess.
Just depriming 9mm cases so when I wet tumble them the primer pockets will get cleaned.
Where do y'all get your stuff from?
Gunpowder, bullets, casings, primers, etc.

Describe the process you do for primer pocket cleaning, I am interest.

Is the Roland Special a real thing or fuddlore? Basically a SF mod for the Glock 19 that is being used in oversea operations. I am strongly considering the front serrated Glock over a Gen 5 to make this.
>>35175428
Techincally it's mall ninja lore at this point
>>35175428
Bored Vet gets KKM to spin up a comp for his G19 just because his Surefire x300 lens gets coated in carbon when shooting since it extends beyond the barrel. Then his buddies get him an RMR slide G17 for his 40th birthday that he falls in love with.
He combines the concepts and the Roland Special was born.
Now what people do with it now could indeed be high speed, but it quite literally started as "I hate cleaning my flashlight"

Did you lose your home, were you looted, are cops still around? Who in FL is still without power?
Im in Jacksonville and I only just got power this friday morning, so I assume southern FL residents are worse off than me, I stopped seeing cops on the street during the night wednesday and sat on my porch the last 2 nights in the dark and had to scare off several groups of blacks, my neighbor down teh street who had a generator said he almost had to shoot someone last ngiht, and we are both glad powers on. But now that we have power again on I realize there might be fuckers worse off than I was.
I know the Santa Fe river flooded last night, rose 20ft or something? How are the rest of you fuckers doing?
>>35175410
Kissimmee is fine, and fared way better through this storm than it did through Charley. It seems to me that the people bitching the loudest weren't here for the last big one.
>>35175410
>"who doesnt have power"
op how do you think they can post on 4chan
South Florida, west of Ft Lauderdale. Lost power for about 4 hours. Didn't even get the generator going. Fired up the grill for dinner and made some steaks and burgers. Power came back on around 10 pm. Lmaoing at you poorfags
Are Reapers visible from 25k feet when I'm on the ground?
Does the reaper have its own laser designator?
Also how precise/accurate is the reaper with Hellfires and Paveways in practice?
I've read the Paveway has a CEP of a few metres at most, but surely it's not that accurate in real combat situations.
Also how accurate are the hellfires in practice?

>I've read the Paveway has a CEP of a few metres at most, but surely it's not that accurate in real combat situations.
You're a retard. It is. I suggest reading any technical paper about laser guidance, it dates back to Vietnam so finding one shouldn't be a problem once you learn about breathing through the nose.

ISIL, AQAP, AL shabab, taliban, go back to your cave.
What score did you get on the ASVAB? As in the actual test itself at MEPS, not the practice tests. I got a 97 was pretty proud of it until I got permanently disqualified for failing that fucking hearing test and couldn't hear all the beeping sounds.
So you aren't even medically qualified yet you made an entirely new topic to brag about your asvab score?
>proud of a 97
Same score here; you shouldn't be proud of being able to breathe and walk at the same time. Any score under the 90s is dumb, anything under 70s is literal mouthbreather tier.
>>35175072
Man I remember people at my recruiting station needing multiple tests and waivers for their low scores when I joined in 2007. How do you fail this shit?
>Buddy there are guys in the world right now who ate 5 or 6 wounds from an AK to the torso and survived. Compare the bullet wound from that to what happens if a dinosaur puts a tooth the width of a shot glass, or a claw the size of a railroad spike. You're fucking retarded. Modern technology is meant to kill PEOPLE, not dinosaurs.
It's time this pasta got called out for its bullshit and this is the only board with the know how to do it.
So /k/, is it true? And how would YOU put the Saurian menace should it ever return back on the extinction list?
>>35174954
Here's the thing, dinosaur teeth only penetrate to the gums, whereas 7.62 can penetrate much farther since it's not restricted by primitive length.
If you shoot it in the chest, the round will go it it's lungs/heart if you have a big enough round. The comparison of bullets to teeth is obvious here, since teeth can't reach the lungs and heart, they'd at best get the ribs.
This kills Barney.

Why did Hilter abandon the paratrooper idea after one failed insertion?
Same reason I gave up on your mom after one failed insertion
Costly, messy, smelled like death
>>35174790
Money/supplies and the fact that they were getting slaughtered in the air and needed ground forces/troops more than specilized Air assets.
>>35174790
>after one failed insertion?
Two very costly deployments, in fact: Netherlands and Crete. It wasn't worth the losses. One of the very few sane decisions of Hitler.
>cavalry "saber"
>has a straight blade
What did Patton mean by this?
>>35174550
He meant that you're a dumb nigger
>>35174550
Run a nigga through, kill him in seconds not minutes, don't be a bitch, hold on to the sword.
There's a number of sabres from the late 19th century and onwards that have straight blades. The modern sport fencing sabre is also straight, and odds are that it's the straightening of fencing sabres sin the 19th century that resulted in straight military sabres as the men who designed them (officers with a fencing interest) would tend to have been raised on a sport fencing diet. Patton himself is a late example thereof, being a pretty accomplished sport fencer, seen here competing against lieutenant Mas Lattrie in 1912.
