I found this at a thrift store today, it came in a little carrying case, and has the hood, but I dont know much about these, other than what I read on wiki, is it still good? did I do good on the price? It dosent have any external filters, do I need any? Also is the hood on inside out, the inside of it has camo it looks like.
I put it on for a minute and it seems like it seals well, the only air that goes in or out comes through the little black holes on the sides, but it was really hard to breathe in it.
I only paid 14.99 for it, they had a second one in the same bag, but no hood and the holes on the sides with just open, but seemed in good shape otherwise, should I go back and get the second one? Is it worth it since its missing parts?

>Babby's first gas mask
Those "lil black holes" as you so tenderly put it are the filters. They're a bitch to change and basically specific to that one mask.
It's a gas mask alright, it'll do the job granted you can take care of the filters by yourself, but I wouldn't say it's a good mask unless you're in full MOPP

The carrying bag with strap.
>>34962362
Really? those are tiny compared to the stupid big filters I see on most gas masks, is it worth anything? How much are filters? Are the ones I have any good? it also had a spare just loose in the bag
Sling mounted at the front of hand guard or at the back of the hand guard by the front of the receiver?
Where do you mount it and why?

That's about on par with foregrip placement. As in, it's entirely a personal preference and the best placement for either is whichever one works best for you.

hellyeah man good job. I've got an Expert in 9 like the pic. Anyways it has a pretty good trigger and reset, I'd love to find an expert in .45, just got a Tactical in .45 actually which essentially has the same setup as the Expert just without the longer slide.Pretty sure you'll like it but if not I'd be happy to take it off your hands
is this gud price?
Red pill me on British army please. Thinking of joining. Also about the subsequent paths that follow, like being a private contractor or joining a special forces unit.

you're not gonna have a good time in the military if you make plans for becoming a super leet special forces operator or some shit already, in the army you're gonna get yelled a like you don't know shit (because you don't) and you're just gonna do menial tasks and be treated just the same as anyone else because you're not gonna be special, and likely you don't have some sort of talent or gift to be better than anyone else. you'll absolutely hate half of your job but enjoy the other half if you're cut out for it.
tl;dr tho if you're in good shape and think you can handle it sure
Is it a good idea to put pic related on your home? Or does it just advertise that you have funs and take away the element of surprise?
Would a combination of pic related and cctv signs be more effective?
I have a camera system but it hasn't really deterred anyone and when things get stolen from outside my home the police never find the perp anyway.

What does /k/ use? gun bags or gun cases? I'm looking to get one, yet can't decide which. I'm leaning a bit towards hard case. What does /k/ recommend and whats the average price I should be getting one?
I use a bag personally, cases are terrible space wise, only thing cases are good for is if you're sending them by mail or need an alternative to a safe.
I got my gun bag at Academy for $59 and it's pretty good, 42 inches and holds two to four long guns depending on their size. Buy a quality one once, don't buy a shit one, remember the stuff you're putting in them is usually 10x their value so don't cheap out
bags are the best. take up less space, won't scratch up my leather seats, can sew on cute anime patches

Thinking of picking up a H&B medium camp Hawk for my new camping/hiking axe. Haven't owned a 'hawk before, but I'm thinking I will prefer it to a hatchet for multiple reasons, but admittedly one reason is for its prowess as a historical weapon, and potentially for some 'hawk throwing for fun.
Anyone have good 'hawks they recommend, or prefer hatchets/boys axe/etc over a 'hawk?
How are tomahawks when it comes to processing firewood? I have a hatchet I take camping but I think tomahawks are neat, I just can't justify getting one when I already own a perfectly fine hatchet.
>>34961543
generally inferior, but it can be situational.
Tomahawks have lighter heads with a narrower edge geometry which makes them excellent cutters, but that edge geometry couple by the immediate flaring out at the eye of the axe makes them worse for splitting. which is really where hatchets shine around the camp.
Their shafts are generally a few inches longer than hatchets, but overall weight is often the same or less. I actually like the longer shaft and lighter head for certain wood work, it keeps the work farther away from your body. You can also easily pop the head off and use the cutting edge in a variety of ways, or simply choke up on the 'hawk itself for processing meat/game, and finer wood working uses.
Also, if you are truly out in the field away from it all, if your shaft ever breaks it's quite easy to secure the head to a new shaft with just some whittling. The head is put on from the butt of the shaft, which slowly tapers wider until it's held on by friction. The natural swinging/chopping motion of the axe keeps pushing the head further "out" where it's tightest, so it naturally lends itself to staying tight when you need it to.
This is all based on modern usage of 'tomahawk'. Tomahawk really just meant axe. And back in pioneering days a tomahawk could have been a hatchet(modern style axes are hafted from the top, and a wooden wedge holds it in place), a modern style 'hawk, a larger camp axe, etc....
Nowadays the biggest difference is tomahawk has a round eye, and is hafted from the bottom, which was the early method of making most axes. You can still make a splitter, heavier edge geometry axe this way.
Modern axes are hafted from the top, have a narrower eye, and are held secure with wedges pounded in the top.
