Are there any good 10mm compacts other than the G29? I'm looking for something a little more concealable than my Witness that I can ammo share with.

So i live in the communist republic of california where guns are bad.
I am a firearm enthusiast and i was wondering if anyone had any info on california ar15 laws.
Im planning on buildin an 16inch barrel ar15 with an uncompleted 80% lower reciever for a shtf build.
I have no intention on completing the 80% lower unless a zombie appocolypse. Im an enthusiast and i love ar15s but id rather build this than have a good replica or an airsoft gun.
Is this legal?
Is this legal if i have a 5150 and am not allowed to own fire arms?
Would it be legal to put a 10.5 barrel on this bad boy?

There's nothing illegal about having a pile of gun parts. The moment you make that 80% a 100%, you need to get a serial number from the DOJ to put on it, and then you need to comply with all state Assault Weapons Ban laws.

I remember hearing X years back that California implemented “assault weapon” registration, telling gun owners that the database wouldn’t be used to seize their guns, then turned around and banned “assault weapons” and used the database to seize guns.
Can someone point me to a link detailing when and how this happened?
I’m not talking about the recent legislation but an event that happened back in the Clinton administration?

A used aimpoint or eotech should both be in that price range
Vortex has good budget red dot optics if you want to spend less and should be good enough for average use. I've banged up my Strikefire a pretty good amount and it's done fine.

5.45 outdoes 5.56 in ballistic coefficient and has a better case taper, but at the end of the day there isn't a great difference to justify one or the other beyond politics (for militaries) or what gun you want (for private owners).
6.5-7mm class projectiles seem to be the trend for getting better performance from an intermediate round.
