Hi /k/, my son is 16 going on 17 here in a few months, and I've been wanting to get him a nice little beginners gun. The only issue is, my first gun was a 38 sp revolver when i turned 24, so I have no idea what would be good for him. I figure a .22 lr would be the best caliber. I've been leaning towards a 10/22 or a marlin lever action. Any ideas?

10/22 lever guns are for fudds
>>
>>33208798
I can't speak for the marlin, but the 10/22 is probably the best semi auto .22 rifle out there today, both for it's reliability (as far as .22's go) and it's extremely vast aftermarket scene. Versatile little things. I owned one for a while and I miss it since selling it. I'm honestly gonna pick another one up sometime soon. Great rifle.

So whatever the hell happend to the 60 round quad stack (not a drum) magazine that Magpul was inventing for us?

The guy I talked to at the magpul booth at shot just said that they couldn't ever really get it to work amazingly. He also said that the D60 exists now so there really isn't much of a point for them.
>>
Is the drum decent? Shits too expensive to buy if it's a lemon
>>
>>33209050
It's the best of the extended-capacity AR mags on the market (including the Surefire coffin mags). It's still not as reliable as a 30-round mag though.

What's the best gun for pocket carry, /k/?

>pic-related, my current pocket gun
I love everything about it, but it has the occasional malfunction which gives me second thoughts

>>
Anyone have experience with a glock 42?
>>
Every gun will jam every so often. Ive had Glocks lock up so bad that I had to disassemble them completely before they would work again. The kahr pm9 is the only other decent 9mm pocket gun I can think of and it's worse in every way but reliability.
>>
>>33208853
It's too big for pocket carry unless your wearing cargo pants. The shield is too.

>>
LL Bean? You have more money than sense. Nice bags, but why spend all that just to be a billboard for them?

Also more attractive to thieves; "Hey, look, and LL Bean bag.... I bet there is a bunch of expensive upscale shit in there, let's steal it...".

Go to Home Depot, get a tool bag for a lot less that will do just fine.

That's a nice purse you have their mam

Won't it negate MAD and allow conventional warfare to rear up again between nuclear powers.

>>
Generally, you're not going to get 100% reliability against a peer that's actively trying to lower that reliability rate.
>>
>>33208441
how many nukes do you think could be launched simultaneously by either the US or Russia
>>

probably a couple hundred.

is it lame to wear a chest rig to the range even if it's just to hold your shit
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
It's pretty lame, but no one's going to give you shit about it.
>>
>>33208405
Not really, especially if worn over relatively normal clothing. At an indoor range, yeah it's retarded.

There's merit in shooting with stuff you might wear in a worst case scenario though, so fuck what anyone thinks really.
>>
>outdoor range?
>movement while shooting?

no

Indoor range?
in a booth?

yes.

So i've been in South Africa for the last few weeks. I had the pleasure of visiting a MOTH (like an American VFW). The interesting thing about the MOTHs is that they've welcomed in the expat Rhodesian soldiers. So the MOTHS are more than just South African bush war vets. This particular MOTH has a great collection and display of historical images, patches, insignias. weapons, uniforms, medals, awards, letters, maps, and plenty of other stuff. They were nice enough to give me free roam of the facility before their meeting started. I shot about 200 photos there. Now you get to see them. I'll drop a few here and if you want to see the full set, skip ahead to here:

My favorite is the letter from Mugabe to the former Rhodesian soldiers.

Enjoy....

My favorite. It shows how bat shit crazy Mugabe is. That fuck just turned 93 and as nutty has he is he's still walking, talking, and doing public speeches. I bet he lives to 100.

There's going to be more coming this week. Another 600 or so photos from other military sites.

Whats the better way to aerial refuel? Basket or whatever the pump thing is?

Alright /k/ what is he smallest force that could reliably take on a singer US Carrier Strike Group and have a decent chance of winning? A group of strategic bombers? A Russian/Chinese CSG?

As a reminder, a US CSG consists of:

1 Nimitz-class CV
2 Ticonderoga-class CGs
3 Arleigh Burke-class DDGs
2 Los Angeles-class Attack Submarines
A combined oiler & supply ship

And Russian/Soviet carrier groups follow a defensive doctrine, they're not really comparable.

one could argue that the p229 was designed for that new cartridge. however we all know the USP .40 is a better gun in every way.
