Newfag and poorfag here. Just bought my first gun today (Mossberg Maverick 88). I bought some shells along with it, was planning on breaking it in tomorrow. I was going to just run one box (25 shells) through it tomorrow, but in my excitement to get the thing, I neglected to get a cleaning kit.
I'm fully prepared to go out and search for what I need, but I'm a lazy motherfucker. If I run 25 Federal Game Load shells through it (6 shot, low brass) should I go out and clean it afterwards, or can I neglect it until next time?
>>33275910
First of all, congrats on the purchase. To answer your question: it really depends on when you are going to shoot it next. If it's only going to be a weekend or less, you should be fine. But, any longer, and I would highly recommend cleaning it. Since shotguns shoot black powder, they oxidize more quickly, and gunk up just as easily. Once you get a cleaning kit, I would try to do it after every shooting session. Have fun, OP!
>>33275910
Neat, just got a Mossman 500 for $230 the other day, how much you walk away with yours for?
>>33276026
$200 even, 214 after tax. Guy cut me a minor deal, tag said 229.
Bought 75 shells of Federal Game Load 6 shot and 5 shells of military issue Winchester 00 buck. Cost me 25 dollars.
What you playing? I'm enjoying playing Wildlands as BIGGUH BOSSO

Is there any significant difference between CG/RPG? Is there really a point in using them on a modern battlefield?
>>33304784
>Is there any significant difference between CG/RPG?
Like difference between an AK-74 and a M16A4. Operationally different, more or less same purpose.
As for purpose, it's to blow up shit that you can't usually blow up effectively with a grenade launcher. Essentially more firepower.
Both launche large amounts of boom-boom in a rather straight line, of course they have a place on a modern battlefield.
Both have a variety (a fuckton) of ammo types to choose from, ranging from anti-infantry to bunker penetrating and anti-armor warheads.
CG has more ammo options.
Illum. Smoke. AntiStructural thermobaric.Flechette. Tandem HEAT. HEDP.
What did he mean by this?
Retardation.
>>33302117
it's not so much the weight of the impact as it is the hole it pokes in the person which lets the blood out. let somebody poke a few 9mm holes in your chest area and see how much you laugh about how that felt like 10 pounds dropped from less than an inch.
sage shitty b8 threads
>>33302117
They forgot to add that the 10 pound weight would have a 9mm cross section.

Are torpedoes still relevant for naval warfare (when they aren't used on submarines)?
>>33300931
Maybe.
>>33300931
>on submarines
Somewhat ambiguous. Do you mean used BY submarines? Or used AGAINST submarines? Both?
Other than that, not really. The only places you really see torpedoes equipped anymore in modern navies seem to be sub-to-surface, surface-to-sub or air-to-sub.
>>33300931
Of course, especially since anti-torpedo technology is decades behind anti-missile technology.

Why doesn't the USA employ transport gunships like Russia? Seems like a neat idea to me.
>12 blyats onboard helicopter
>like 20 chechens shooting at helicopter with machine guns trying to get you to fuck off
>It doesn't work
>choo choo the landing zone with rockets and drop your conscripts off
>get back in the air
>brrrt brrrt the remaining villagers with your cannons
Doctrine, mostly.
>>33299559
Because the US has this crazy thing called money and could develop different helicopters for different purposes. We also went through this war called Vietnam, you heard of it? Where in we learned smaller faster and more dedicated gunships were needed for clearing out LZ's and attacking mortor teams and reinforcements while the slower troop transports landed.
After during and Afghanistan, Russia reluctantly developed their own dedicated attack helicopters for these very reasons.
Really makes you think
>>33299599
Obviously, but it makes no sense to me as to why they don't just use a helicopter with greater air support ability than Blackhawks and Chinooks. Instead they use completely different helicopters. But why use more helicopters when you can have ones that can do both?

Jesus, go to /fit/ first if you have trouble even holding a pistol up for a few seconds without fainting. A huge part of gun training is having the physical ability, so focus on that.
