What's with the popularity of this gun nowadays?
>>33337445
I'm sure it's used in Africa.
>>33337445
It's been popular since it came out.

Its awesome, has been since it mowed down uncle Jim-bob and even the modified 7.62 variants are awesome.
>the original brrrt before Gatlings resurrection
Is just a good oiling enough to keep this from rusting again?
Rust started from fitting a old holster, i oiled the gun heavily and put it in a soaked holster. So that was my dumb fault. Also will cold blue touch up work fine for a semi long term solution?
>>33337271
What oil did you use?
Proper storage is probably the best thing you can do to mitigate further rusting. The oil helps, absolutely, but don't think that it will keep it rust free if you don't store it right.

hopps
Well /k/ i come to you with a very sad update. if you were on several weeks ago then you might remember my story. if you weren't then here's the gist of it.
>worked at gun store
>boss told us about manufacturer sales contests
>apply online and take a test and begi collecting points
>win guns from sales
>guns arrive
>boss steals them from us, puts them in store inventory
>pic related is one gun
>won't even reimburse me for taxes
I contacted the ATF about it. It took them forever to finally get back to me. Here's the bullshit the ATF gave me. They said that it's a private matter and that there's nothing they can do about it. They said my options were to report the guns stolen or hire a lawyer and sue him, which would of course be more expensive than the guns are worth. I asked them how he could legally take possession of firearms that were invoiced to somebody else, that he didn't pay for, that he didn't pay taxes on, and then sell it in his store. That's theft and tax fraud. I spoke to two different agents about this and they just shrugged and said "it was transferred to his store". I told them the Sig wasn't transferred to his store. It was transferred to an FFL in a neighboring state because im an out of state resident and he called that FFL and convinced them to transfer it to him.
>continued in part 2
>>33337268
Pretype this and report as theft
>part 2
Again they shrugged and said that it was won through a sales contest at his store. So i ask "so you're telling me that if i purchase a gun from another ffl online and have it transferred to a local ffl that there are no ATF regulations requiring the ffl to actually transfer the firearm? the ffl can just keep a gun that somebody else paid for and sell it?" The ATF said yes, that was the case. I asked how that would look in his aquisition and distribution books since he's selling guns that he didn't buy. They agreed that it is a case of theft and his books might be fucked up but they still arent gonna do anything about it. So clearly the local ATF is either incompetent or in cahoots with my old boss. Hiring a lawyer wouldn't be worth it. I have the invoices and i could report the guns stolen but he has a brother that works for the state police so that probably wouldn't yield any results. So there ya go /k/. My old boss found a way of exploiting his employees to get free shit and i'm out about $400 on fucking taxes for guns that I never even got to take possession of. So my only options are to be petty and make a bunch of fake e-mails and destroy his business with bad reviews online and call the manufacturers and let them know what he's been doing and hopefully they'll pull his reps as a consequence of his behavior. The ATF is so fucking useless. Goddamn.

So is Cabellas a good place to look for and purchase guns? I've never bought from a big chain store that sells firearms, just small mom and pop type places.
I was looking for a Ruger 10/22 and they have alright prices for them, I just want to know if I should be weary of Cabellas or Bass Pro Shop and their selection of firearms. They have that gun library which at mine has some expensive surplus stuff which is also interesting I guess.
General gunstore thread I guess too.
>>33336334
Over priced and shitty employees. Argued with some guy about 8mm mauser for an hour; he kept telling me I was thinking of 9mm luger. Dude was like 60 years old too what the fuck man.
look: yes, purchase: no
they charge more than local gun shops
>>33336334
For a low end mass produced gun like the 10/22, its perfectly fine. Prices will be about on par with online. Its the used and or expensive stuff you have to research. Sometimes a great used bargain can be found there but you have to know what youre looking at

>Norway couldn't singlehandedly-destroy USA in a week
TOP KEK AMERICAN PIG SHIT!!!
Oh believe you me, us Norwegians are ITCHING for a war with USA. We will fucking ANNIHILATE your dirty country. There wouldn't be a square meter of American soil that has running water, electricity, or petrol that isn't on fire, once our airforce and navy is done bombarding your defenseless country. Then, our army boys (we'd send the niggers and other mongrel races first) would swoop in, raping your women, and killing EVERY American pig shit they see. When Norway's done with you, we will have committed acts of genocide. Of course no one is gonna do shit about it
>>33336127
You've done Norway twice already. Pick another country. I suggest Latvia. Or Greenland.
Yeah, I get what you're doing OP, but it's just not funny. Like at all. Keep trying though!

I have a smith and wesson 642 j frame. The finish is warn off and it looks like hell. The finish doesn't affect the functionality but i would like to refinish it. Is there a way to blue it or buff the old lacquer off and re lacquer it? can i get auto paint and bake it? Should I send it to S & W and pay them 300$ to refinish it? It seems like i could buy a new one for $300 so theres that to. Any experience with this? These are photos of the wear on the frame.
So what makes a rifle worth $2000 to you? Features? Performance? Nostalgic value?
>>33335883
Some guy saying "pay me 2k for this gun" and the other guys going "da, this good price".
>>33335898
This.
If I want the gun for whatever reason and the market values it at $2000 then so be it.
