Any idea what this is guys? I bought it at a yard sale with some other military surplus gear so I assume it's something military related. I've looked and looked and cannot find any info on it. On the bottom of the pad there appears to be an Ethernet receptacle.

Hi /k/. I have a dilemma that I'm hoping y'all can help me with. I know very little about guns aside from the basics and while cleaning out my fathers closet I found a couple of beautiful long guns. I'm hoping y'all can give me a little info on them. The first one I'm posting has a scope covering the info so I've included as many angles as possible to help identify it.

There's a stamp on the bottom. I didn't know if that might help identify.

Sup, anon from /tg/ here.

Would it have been theoretically possible for safe, breech-loaded matchlock guns to have been invented in the 16th or 17th centuries?

From what I've gathered, breech-loading was able to become a thing when some French company invented cased ammunition, and manufacturing techniques allowed these cases to be mass-produced. So it seems possible that a breech-loaded matchlock that was actually reliable enough to be used could have come about if they figured it out sooner.

Am I missing something? Does cased ammunition rely on advanced materials that couldn't have been made in the past, or something?

Pic related. These guns were made, but they had the tendency to burn people's hands, or explode in faces.

>>
The Ferguson rifle was a flintlock breechloader. Don't see why it couldn't be made as a matchlock.
>>
There were some breech-loading flintlock weapons. It would have been possible, but they would've been unique status item for royalty and wealthiest nobles rather than actual useful field weapons.
>>
>>33348782
That verticle foregrip makes it an assault matchlock.

Yes. Chicken winging helps you stabilize the rifle, but in turn causes muscle tension in your arm which fucks with your trigger pull and thus marksmanship. Stability of the rifle is far more important in combat than a soft trigger pull. A rifleman is not a marksman/sniper and vice versa and an unsupported standing position is not one you should be firing from in the first place, if at all possible.

all around is 4x
depends on what you're going for tho
>>
>>33348615

4x is my preferred magnification, but it really depends on what gun you're using the scope on, what you're doing with it, what distance you're going to be shooting at most of the time, and so on.

10x

It's probably failed attempt at coping FN 1900.
Might be Chinese, might be Spanish.
>>
>>33348529
I'm gonna go with Spanish, since it looks like it's done on actual machine tooling and by people who know what they're fucking doing.
>>
>>33348450
Too add: Selbstlader means autoloader in German. If it is mispelled it's more likely to be Chinese, because they put those markings without knowing much about them.

Have any of you guys gone ahead and gotten a C&R FFL? I'm considering it, just wondering if anyone here already has one and if they're worthwhile. I don't know all of the specifics, but once you get this license you can have C&R eligible firearms shipped right to your house, correct? You also need to keep a logbook of purchases and sales, which the ATF can request to view at any time right?

So have you guys looked into getting one? Any idea how long the turnaround time is between sending off the application and getting a response?

>>
I had one years ago. Took 6 weeks turnaround for me. I used it a ton back when nuggets and SKSes were dirt cheap and just cherry picked the best out out of each batch I bought. Lot of impulse buying back then.

If you are actually into older and surplus guns, then it's a good deal I think. The license pays for itself in just a single transfer in some places. ATF hardly does 03 audits, as it's a waste of their time.

It's also good for store discounts, since many stores consider you a dealer (even though you legally aren't) Brownells is pretty much the only place which discounts are worth a damn though.

I didn't bother renewing since to use c&r in CA means more hoops and and you still have to register your guns. I've since moved, but turns out c&r is even more useless in Oregon.
>>
>>33348401
Yeah I've heard having the ATF actually check your logs is pretty rare. They need to come in person to check them, right?

As far as what is considered a C&R firearm, is it just anything made over 50 years ago or is it more nuanced than that? I know Ian made a vid saying that Colt SP-1s are now C&R eligible, so does that mean at some point in the future every AR lower will be C&R eligible?

And as far as selling goes, once you hold an FFL, do you need to do background checks when selling or is that not required for C&R FFL holders?
>>
>>33348356
I had one 7 years ago, bought a some slavshit and swiss rifles really cheap. There's nothing left really that's priced right, unless through President Trump's power the cool stuff C&R stuff starts flowing back into this country.

No issue in the UK,

I have access to shooting land so lots of fun to muck about with.
>>
>>33348340
Pastaland says it's not a firearm, it's a tool with low offensive capabilities (like knives, screwdrivers, hammers, whatever can stabbity stab or crushity crush someone else).
BUT you can't carry unless you have a need for it, and crossbows are forbidden for hunting if I recall correctly. You can hunt with a bow (provided that you have a hunting license), and bow is also considered a tool so you don't need any special permit to carry besides the justified reason.

Transporting in your car is fine, as long as it is not readily accessible to use as a weapon (keep it in the trunk especially in cities).
Absolutely no carrying on your shoulder in a city, in a smaller village you'll get away with it if you're a local, but a good rule is to always have it in a rifle bag.

Got a job working for an armored transportation company. Relatively small company compared to like Brinks or Dunbar, so vests and ballistics are supplied by the employee.

My question is what do you guys recommend when it comes to armor. Something that isn't bulky, and uncomfortable to wear while driving, but holds up and offers the most protection while still being comfortable. Price is a concern but obviously I'd prefer quality over quantity.

I don't know a whole hell of a lot when it comes to amror ratings either, so be conscious of that when explaining

I'm in the market for a quality semi-auto shotgun and the Benelli M4 is at the top of my list. I can get a hold of both the standard 18.5" version and the 14" version through my LGS but can't decide between the two. Is the 14" "Entry" model worth the SBS stamp and waiting period or should I go ahead with the regular model?

My neighbor has the 18.5 with the skeleton stock on it and a trijicon RMR. I wouldn't want the 14 for the lowered capacity
