This is the most overrated cartridge in America. It's too small to be more than a marginal deer cartridge, and too expensive to be a viable alternative to 22 LR for target practice and plinking. It might be about right for killing coyotes, but there's no reason to own a rifle in a coyote cartridge when a deer rifle will kill them even more easily.

It's used to kill humans, why can't it be used to kill deer?
>>
>>33364858
It is not especially good at killing humans, and it is not especially good at killing deer. Intermediate cartridges, by definition, sacrifice power in order to reduce weight and recoil.

Former Braves closing pitcher John "fucking gays, trannies, and single mothers on the new york subway train" Rocker, had his truck robbed and his .357 revolver and 50 rounds of ammo stolen. He left it in the truck while he was inside a LA Fitness gym working out. The real kicker? This is the second time his truck has been broken into.

i am a simple fa/tg/uy with a simple fa/tg/uy related question,

would removing the friction from the barrel of a gun have any meaningful affect on how lethal that gun would be? for simplicity, lets just take pic related as an example.
22 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>33364686
It'd make it worse because the friction is what makes the rifling grab the bullet and force it to spin.
>>
>>33364778
This
>>
>>33364686
Well, it would increase velocity and this would extend the range it is lethal at.
>>33364778
Friction isn't responsible for that.

>>
>>33364337
Not OP, but if you're doing your own loading is it better or is the bullet itself inherently shit?

I'm pretty sure this asshole didn't serve in the Union Army.

What would you say are some smaller but still effective alternatives to a 9mm for CC/Self defense? I was thinking 38spl or 9mm Makarov.

PS- I already own a 9mm. Just have some extra cash and would like to have some options and try out some other calibers.

What do you guys use on your guns?
I'm looking for recoil mainly, i currently have an AFAB which is great with flash but i think there's better out there for recoil. I was looking around and found these 2:

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2367911460/pri-muzzle-brake-quiet-control-1-2-28-thread-ar-15

http://f-1firearms.com/dragon-slay-ar-brake/ with video:

so what do you guys use/ recommend?

If you're going to have something other than a flash hider or a suppressor, get a compensator.
>>
>>33363756
I was trying to use a general term to what you put at the end of the barrel, and I do have a flash hider it works wonderfully but im trying to see if i can get something for recoil just to try it out.

is the stuff that mickulek shills any good? i mean hes not bad at all. http://www.miculek.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=27

I'm looking for an inexpensive pistol for home defense. Something that would be cheap to shoot at the range. I'm not an enthusiast (cannot afford to be yet) But I am looking for my first gun.

Pic related is what was recommended to me. Seems like a good buy to me. Great reviews, can get for $300 locally. I wanted a revolver but they seem much too expensive for a solid one.

Not a bad choice, actually. Comes with 2 18rd mags, loading tool, holster, cleaning brush, and lock, all in a high impact plastic case. $350 or less.

I'm going to pick one up next month.

Caniks are good budget guns. Don't overlook used, especially police trade-ins. Good deals to be had for glocks and berettas for easily sub $350. You should factor in the fact that parts/accessories/mags/holsters will be much easier to get for those vs the Caniks

How is this not considered one of the best handguns on the market, or at least on this site? These things are amazing. A compact, alloy frame 9 / .40 for 2/3 the price of closest comparable SIG in price, with at least as good quality and durability if not better. Plus those CZ ergonomics Sigs can't touch. They're absolutely wonderful to shoot, and there's even a full-size version.

Is it all able to be chalked up to the CZ-hate meme? I know they trigger certain people, but people are pretty nonplussed when it comes to SIG these days, too (QC issues, over-priced, etc). If you want a alloy-frame, duty-quality semi-auto pistol, how many options do you have?

CZ hate meme??

The only reason I own my sp-01tactical is BECAUSE of /k/. I always thought they were cheap meme guns

I mean my beretta 92 double action is better than CZ but my CZ has better ergos and decocker only, which i prefer.

I have sort of a strange question for you guys but here goes. Over the years when I find a set of ceramic sapi plates cheap I usually buy them, I’ve collected about 12 sapi plates all together. I guess I’m just saving them for Armageddon or w/e idk haha so that my friends and family have something if shtf, wrol or whatever. Anyway my question is about stacking sapi plates, basically I want to store these away in a storage building, I’m thinking about putting them in a padded plastic container maybe 6-8 stacked on each other, but like because they are triple curved I’m going to pad the bottom plate with scrap clothing so that all of the weight isn’t resting solely on the corners of that bottom plate, the scrap clothing will help to spread the weight distribution over the entire bottom plate in the stack. My question is how many sapi plates do you think are safe to stack without over time the bottom plate and or plates possibly cracking from having too many plates and or too much weight stacked ontop of it? Would 8-10 plates stacked on top of each other be okay long term?

>>33363250
you are now in the realm of dealing with chemical decomposition.

How long is a saapi plate good for? Do they expire?
>>
>>33363250

Stack them virtically so each supports it's own weight. The curve will be a wide enough arc to stand on its own.
>>
>>33363250
Yeah they should be fine
