So /k/ tell me about the ruger mini 14. I've wanted one for a while now. Tell your opinions pros and cons.

I for one love the way it looks with a wooden stock, chambered in .223, and high cap mags are available. But is it worth the $700 price tag?

I think it's a pretty cool rifle, but kinda expensive. Also doesn't help that factory 20/30-round magazines are like $50 a piece.
>>
I don't think it is unless you're in a cuck state that requires abomination ar15's.

An Anderson ar15 is 400. But for 700, you could build a rad ar15 with lights, scopes, and shit and have ammo to boot.
>>
>>33370961
It's a good rifle, I've owned 2. They get trounced because Ar's are so cheap to build and buy these days, and can offer more accuracy potential. Another problem is magazines. The Mini needs Ruger factory mags, and they're fairly expensive. Aside from that, they're well built, reliable and lightweight. I'd look for a newish production gun. They have heavier, more accurate barrels. If you look around, you can probably find a used one for hundreds less than the current retail prices.

Century Arms has a reputation of being hit or miss when it comes to their HOMEMADE kalashnikovs compared to their imported stuff where all they do is convert it. Also for some reason, the AKfags here would like to tease at you if you have a milled AK (Which is funny, the original Type II and III AK47s were milled, along with the licensed Type III variants that the Soviets allowed to their stallite states

I think it's pretty much just a meme people use when somebody talks about homemade weapons and silencers.
And most are still pissed about Ruby ridge

Purchase advice thread? purchase advice thread. post things you want to buy and receive advice.

I might have the chance to snag a Ruger 77/17 in .17 hornet with an optic for ~$100. I should jump on this, right? is there anything i should know about the 77/17 or .17 hornet in general before i buy? I've heard it's a great varmint cartridge with good accuracy.

pic related, it's a 77/17

>>
>>33369778
17 hornet is a fantastic cartridge but you will struggle to find ammunition locally for it.
I would buy that in a heartbeat depending on condition. Worst case scenario you can sell it for a profit.
>>
>>33369801
aside from bore and cosmetic damage, is there anything i need to look out for when examining it?

also how does .17 hornet prices fare in comparison to say, 7.62x39?

I'm new to guns. I've loved them my whole life but I lived with libtards so I just bought my first one when I moved out. I live in the city and buying ammo is expensive as hell. I'm thinking of buying a really high quality airsoft gun so I can train in my backyard and learn good cqb tactics. Is this a good idea, /k/? I'm aware that the experience won't be the same but if I get an airsoft gun that's extremely realistic, it will help my aim and control and I'll have the ability to practice everyday.

>>33368987
It won't help you get over recoil. Guns are expensive anon, fact of life. Get a 9 for carry, a pistol carbine to fuck around with and a .22 to go full retard with and not feel as bad. It could be worse, you could be gambling all your money away or spending it on crack.
>>
>>33369000
Also new to guns

Wouldn't a 1911 be better for carry?
>>
>>33369000
I totally understand. I'm just a poor college kid and I go to the range as often as I can but even then it's only a once or twice a week thing. Not to mention the money. Of course I'll still shoot whenever I can but having an airsoft gun to plink cans in the backyard for fun seems like a good idea for when I don't have the time or money.

Recent hasguns here, I'm looking to buy some earmuffs or the like. Probably going to spend like $50. Is pic related good or what do you guys suggest around this. Presumably there's gonna be some fag who claims only $200+ earpro is worth anything

All the same shit. Juat make sure they are comfy. You are gonna be wearing them for a bit.

Those are pretty much the poorfag gold standard. Own two pairs and they're pretty great.
>>
I own that same pair. Good for the price, fairly comfortable. Sometimes the seal isn't too good with glasses, but I double up just to be safe. Seen many people who use them, so surely they can't be too bad.

>tfw maryland assault weapon ban has a giant loophole in it that says if the gun has a heavy barrel its fine.

meanwhile california has to manually feed the round down the barrel which is bored open to allow this. Also to prevent accuracy in the event of a shooting targeting kids
>>
>>33368883
No, everyone in California just uses a meme wrap and totally never not ever unscrews it.
>>
I live in Northern Virginia. Maryland seems more like a joke than an actual physical place even to me.
