Literally added to Glocks to appease Fudd cops with shitty trigger discipline. Cops that had come up using revolvers with 85 pound triggers had lazy trigger discipline. Every time they'd negligently discharge (one big incident involved a cop 360 noscoping a handcuffed teenager) the dumbass cops would blame the Glock for being "unsafe" because it didn't have a safety.

I guess my point is, what about German military procurement and culture of the time allowed for them to be open to concepts, even during a high intensity high casuality war, that only the US (and to an extent Britain) would even come close to developing as their contemporary, let alone deploying, competing concepts? The hilt does have a small plaque which might have held some marking, but if it ever did it's gone now.
