When I go camping or just hiking out innawoods, I carry a 9mm since its the only time I can OC in FL. I know the chance of me ever having to use it, but for Gators, Feral hogs, coyotes, and the very occasional black bear which projectile would be best hard cast lead, solid copper, JHP?

On one hand, Solid copper makes sense to me, because for big animals like hogs bears or gators, penetration makes sense to be more important as well as thick skulls and bones that might make lead ineffective? But generally JHP or lead are used for self defense because they cause more trauma? Im just confused by the whole thing.

>>
I havent seen any tests or done any myself but i would think hardcast lead would penetrate deeper than copper. Ive shot deer for years with 255grn? Hardcast in 45 out of a 1911. Dont listen to advise of internet experts .though. id go to homedepot and buy a 10 ft 2x10. Cut into 12 in long pieces. Screw together to stacks of 5 and shoot with whatever loads you want to try. No wood doesnt = bone but will prove a point
>>
Haven't heard of too many people going toe to toe with a bear using 9. Personally I'd use something bigger against all the animals you've listed. But that's just me. As for your inquiry at hand. I'd go with the solid brass for penetration because against those kinds of animals you need everything you can get out of a 9mm

>gators

You can take them of your list because you can kill them with a .22. I grew up in Homestead FL and use to ride my ATV in the glades, killed many a gator with a .22

Is pic related still valid or would there be recommendations for upgrades?

My rounds are
>.223 (Colt 6920 18"),
>.308 (Tikka T3X CTR 20")
>.22LR (Ruger 10/22)

I hunt with Tikka. Whitetails, buck. I shoot kill shots with it up to 100 yards in average, never beyond 200 yards. I currently have an illuminated Burris Fullfield E1 3-9x40 for it. It's a good optic I think, but for someone else maybe.

6920 is my home defence. That's what I practice with it. I have no optic for it, just open sights.

Ruger is something I shoot sometimes. I'd like to have a nice practical optic for it too, though.

out to 100 yds on deer you might want to stick with the variable power. Consider a 1-4x or 1-6x. From what I've heard the bottom of the line 1-4/1-6x Vortex suck ass for image clarity. Probably worthwhile to pay a bit more towards 1k.

Primary arms is also on the $150-250 list. I've also heard good things about the sig sauer micro red dots. Check out the gun deals plebbit. Lots of good deals on the budget red dots recently.
>>
I have a Burris FastFire2 I got with the AR i bought from a friend. It was on the 45degree offset sight. Since the rifle was set up for 3 gun. Though I took the leupold mark AR and the burris off to just shoot the rifle with KAC irons.

is Burris good enough to use on a Glock 19 MOS or on a KSG?
>>
>>33422486
what happened to cheap primary arms? didnt they have something for 70-80 bucks that used to be recommended. did it double in price cause of popularity?

I know nothing about guns but what role does the kord machine gun serve? why would you need a heavy machine gun over a light machine gun? are you supposed to shoot at people with it? it seems too overpowered to use that big of a calibre on people and expensive and it looks too cumbersome, I can understand using the .50 cal machine gun but 12.7 x 108mm seems unnecessarily big,I'm not shitting on it since it looks cool as fuck but someone please explain what role this serves.

Hi-Point Carbine sighting-related question:

Just got a 4595TS. Really great gun, but when I got it out of the box, it shot 8" low at 25 yards. This is assuming that I hold the peep sight and consider the tip of the front sight post to be the target (center hold).

After adjusting the rear sight all the way up, so that it's raised as much as possible, the rifle shoots around 5" low instead.

Anybody else have this issue? Any suggestions? It's otherwise a very functional gun, and when I hold for the elevation with the maximally-raised sights, I can get very consistent groupings. But this definitely isn't the way I want to continue.

I have a Swedish Mauser M38 and around 3k 6.5 rounds stored.

I use my rifle for hunting and a bit of range fun now and then.

My friend wants to trade his Ruger Scout in 308 for my Swedish Mauser and the ammo.

Should I accept the offer? Is the Ruger better than my Mauser?

/k/ how do I dispose of bad bullets like these?? I don't want to just toss live rounds in the trash and have them explode in a garbage man's face.

I just turn them in at my local range's desk
>>
I assume you don't have a reloading press.

Get pliers
Wrench bullet off
Dump powder
Go wild with an inert round
>>
>>33421565
the top one is fine.

if you have more like the bottom one, pull the bullet out with pliers, pour the powder out into a sink.

then drop the brass at the range i guess since you have no way of removing the primers.

Just FYI, the range is setup for newbies or old crusties. Any shenanigans that are typical with the /k/olorado meet ups of the past will get you kicked out really fast. I'd suggest innawoods as we've done in the past.
