I have a few questions /k/:
I just recently bought myself my first rifle, and I've yet to take it to the range. Do I need any sort of special case for it so I can take it to the range? Sorry if it seems like a dumb question.
Also, because I live in Cook County and I can't have guns with >10 round mags shipped here, is it legal to have them shipped to an FFL in a neighboring county them just bring them home? Or will I get my pupper punished?
And is SKS a good starter rifle for someone who's never fired a gun?
>>33440922
>>33440715
Yes it's a good starter gun.
No you don't REALLY need a special case, I just use blankets wrapped nicely around ones I haven't got a case for.
What is the point of Glock making their slides square? Wouldn't it save money to just make it rounded off like everyone else? Big ass square wasting a shitload of metal and weighing down the gun is pants on fucking head stupid.
Nice critical defense.
>>33440706
It would then cost more to machine, I imagine.
>>33440706
Square is easier to machine.
Easier to machine means cheaper.
Cheaper means they can charge the same while spending less which means more money for them to spend on...well, I was gonna say R&D, but that just doesn't happen at Glock, so I'm just gonna assume they pay their workers slightly better.
What does /k/ think?
>>33440575
Whichever floats your boat, in my opinion though, I am a sucker for 1911s. I am also pretty sure Baretta has better and prettier guns in its arsenal.
between the two? 1911

I've been in the fence about joining the military for almost half a decade and after spending those years aimlessly pissing potential careers away, I still think about joining - I am however a dual national and have the option between U.S and U.K armed forces.
It's my understanding that you leave the British military with very little in terms of 'benefits' but it's a much more 'humane' form of existence versus the hell that is the American military which however provides better long term benefits.
Benefits being future qualifications, monetary compensation and programs (education etc).
I'm not particularly well versed in if this is the case but I'm looking for some enlightenment. At the end of the day I'm looking for post-service pros like working qualifications and potentially contracting.
just join the chair force or the reserves
>>33440342
I don't really see the point in settling for reserves, you have to do most of the work for almost none of the benefit, especially if you get called into action.
Isn't there an issue with dual nat when you join a military? Don't they revoke your other nationality or something?
For next purchase I'm looking for a rifle that can keep a 3 inch group or smaller at 300 yards, and has a hollowed out stock like the garands in pic related.
Anybody have a good list of rifles with cleaning holes in the stocks?
do k98's have them?
>inb4 qtddtot
the 1903 Springfield should have a hole in the stock too
Any quality AR with a 20 inch barrel and an A1 or A2 stock.
>>33440258
>k98s
no, I don't think so.
why buy this piece of shit when the Tavor is a million times better

it isn't better, at all
I here people talk about these. I don't get it. What's the big deal? Why are relatively so expensive?
>>33440056
TACOs work with just about any magazine, and they retain mags without having to actually cover them.
>>33440056
what type of taco does it fit? s kinda small for me
because the market is willing to pay it. if you look at the chinese ones they're much cheaper while still 75% the same but with chinese labor and chinese materials where applicable (cordura might be american if they use it as a selling point)
I'm really poor, and I need a weapon to defend myself in the hood. Any suggestions /k/?
Nope

I want to make a gelling agent for diesel. im using it for a flamethrower, so it must stay semi-fluid. i cant find a cheap alternative, so i decided to make it. how do i do it?

you got me,
>tfw bad at shooting
I am horribly inconsistent with a pistol beyond like 7 yards
Then start at ten feet on a tin bucket. Something that will go CLANG and give you that immediate video-game positive feedback when you do it right. Then at fifteen feet. Then twenty.
>>33439698
>I am horribly inconsistent with a pistol beyond like 7 yards
Congratulations, you are not proficient in the most difficult firearm to effectively shoot. I'll give you some pointers.
>learn how to properly grip a pistol
>front sight focus is key
>you should be able to pick out small scratches or a stray dog hair on your front sight from how much you focus on it
>sight allignment
>do at least 1 deliberate session of dryfire each week (I fucking promise you if you do this correctly, you will git gud)
You can practice on 6 inch circles at 7 yards or 3x5 cards at the same distance. Don't be discouraged, you can and you will fucking do it.
This is a good link on properly dryfiring and a good supplementary video on structuring dryfiring sessions.

The problem with a tin bucket is that it cannot show exactly where you hit it. OP is trying to make more consistent groups with a handgun and self gratification will not help.
What gun do you have, anon?
>>33439698
Are you in Colorado? I'll teach you how to shoot.
Just picked this guy up from cabelas in hamburg this afternoon.
Its a used rossi 461 3 inch barrel .357 magnum.
I paid $279. (Considering i had about $200 in club point + gift cards) How did i do ?
>>33439326
>used rossi
>$279
lmao
i know you're an itoddler so it's expected that you're retarded, but still.
>>33439326
Good buy man. That's not a bad price either. What kinda rounds you gonna be using? 357 is a super across the board round.
My .357 I found on top of a pay phone back in the 80s.
>>33439566
Im not sure what rounds im going to be using. I only picked up one box of fucchini 38spc because cabelas prices are crazy. Do you have a defence ammo recommendation
